This Urban Barn is relatively new. It's in the Ottawa Trainyards, but the newer section where Nordstrom Rack, Figaro Coffee and Healthy Planet are. This Urban Barn seems much more fancy and upscale than the one I'd usually go to in Stittsville. I really like the displays. I don't even have enough room to even try to lower the front legs to shimmy it out ...again the company knowing I had a dishwasher should have brought this to my attention before hand and I would have had my granite counter tops removed so everything could have been done correct the first time.....the overall quality of work done in my home was poor and the overall response I got from the salesman and the owner of the company was extremely piss poor and I would not recommend Athens to anyone because of the lack of response...I know that sometimes thing happen and things can go wrong and if Athens would have responded in a much better fashion and dealt with my concerns at the time then just blowing me off like they don't care now they got my money I would maybe recommend them to others but this is a company that only cares about being paid in full then onto the next victim errr I mean customer.

In brief: The entire installation was done without sweeping/removing any dirt/debris from the floors. No attempt was made to secure/screw down the sub-floor The new carpet was laid, entirely, over the old carpet in the basement The carpet was overlaid on the old under-pad in the master bedroom, the master bedroom closet and 3 other closets The carpet was not secured on the entire upper floor. There is a missing piece of carpet in one bedroom closet The under pad used was dusty with dirty water stains. The company has admitted to the problems and wish to rectify but I do not wish to continue with such a company. They are refusing adequate compensation and wish to leave me with a big expensive mess and a summer nightmare. The following is one of the emails received from the company: Hi Paula, First & foremost, I would like to apologize for not following through on the details of your carpet installation in your home. There is no excuse for our installer not following through on those details other than to save time & make it easier for him. This has been dealt with on our end to ensure it does not happen again. While I am sure it has been of some inconvenience & stress to you, I assure you, I would like the opportunity to send one of our best crews to complete the details to your satisfaction. Should you wish, I can personally be on site during the work. The ownership would much rather complete the job at hand than to leave anything outstanding on any job. Bedrooms & hall We will lift the pad & carpet, re install after we sweep or vacuum the floor , screw down some of the subfloor, change any pad that was not changed & finally do some perimeter carpet tacking as well due to the base board being installed tight to the subfloor. Rec room We will lift the carpet & pad, re install after we remove the rubber backed carpet, scrape the floor & vacuum. We will move the furniture as well in both areas & everything should be completed in 1 day. As I understand sometime in September would work for you, but not right now. TL;DR/The Short Version: Garden Centre with an indoor plants…read moresection. Lots of seeds available too. The Long Version: I didn't realize that this store had indoor plants. I thought they just sold seeds and gardening supplies. However, my sister-in-law who knows I'm crazy about plants right now found a video on YouTube showing this store's newly renovated plants section. So I had to check it out. They have a lot of stuff. They have books about plants and even cute crocheted/knitted plants too. I came with 2 goals in mind. The first was to find a small terra cotta plant pot saucer (about 2" in diameter) and the second was to look at their indoor plants. I found the saucer, but it was $2.29 for one. I can get them at Dollarama for $1.50 for 3 but they are a bit bigger, like 2.5 inches. So I'm going to hold out for now. I might just end up getting the bigger ones to save some money. I enjoyed looking at their plants. They had Lithops, my favourite plant, but only green ones and reddish/orangey ones, which I already have. I'm looking for purple ones or colours I don't have already. They also had Fenestraria Rhopalophylla (Baby Toes) for only $9.99, cheaper than at most other places, but they weren't in good condition, so I passed. They had lots of string of pearls which were in excellent shape though. I found it odd that some plants were thriving while others were in rough shape. Anyway, I had fun poking around the store. I'm going to return with my husband to check out their organic vegetable seeds. He's in charge of our backyard vegetable garden ;) Lots of free parking available in their private parking lot. I wish they had longer hours but I get it. I love that they are making native plants a huge priority, and have made not selling invasive species a thing! More nurseries could learn from them! They always have unique gifts as well and great pricing on bird seed and peanuts for local wildlife.
