ENTERTAINMENT The highlight of the night was when the belly dancer came out for a good 20min show. Here I thought she was just going to shake her belly like a good belly dancer does but no. She had props as well!! Fans, swords and walking sticks! She even pulled some people out of the crowd to dance alongside her which really got the energy in the room up. After her it was back to the DJ to transform the restaurant into a Persian night club. Dance floor was packed with people dancing to modern Persian beats. Interesting place with unique food offerings. Went for lunch one day (so have no idea about dinner). The dining area is massive so it looks like it was designed for functions. For lunch they have a bain marie type setup with pre-prepared food waiting to be ordered. We tried a few of the chicken dishes (one was a square box looking thing of chicken and rice). They have multiple varieties of rice to choose from. Seating area is quite comfortable, and lots of room. Big window seats, but the view is of a car park. I came on Sunday afternoon $25pp buffet... It was a little bit hard to find parking over there, packed at the back of Coles. They are 2bar for food, one side is hot food and other is salad. the chicken shish and lamb shish are yummy. They have the lemon chicken, and One food is very deep green and sour taste, which I wasn't too used to the taste but they were okay. The beans one mix with the tomato sauce is good. I like the saffron rice, taste a little diff to normal home rice cooker rice and better. Love to mix the butter with the rice, which make it even more tasty :) One disappointing thing is their tea cups. I picked up 5... The 5th one was cleans, other was with little dirt sticking inside. I had the ice cream as dessert, but not sure how much extra. It is nice. With ice cream in between 2 waffles. The ice cream is mix with saffron, vanilla, nut, extra. Not sure what they mix in. What I know is, YUMMY !!! Hmm, if you are Asian, you would find food is little bit oily and heavy for you. And they marinated food with lots species. Loved the food, people and the atmosphere. They get very busy on the weekends because of the entertainment and live music so if you are into good food and a little dance, friday and saturday is best for you but if you are more of a quite type try thursday nigh. I've been there several times and my favourite is Sunday Buffett. Highly recommended. read more

Not cheap, but delicious. There are two options for lunch at Persian Basement - a la carte and a food bar. You got a serving of rice and a hot dish. The choices were lamb or chicken kebabs, lamb shank or lemon chicken, or vegetable, lamb or chicken stew. There was plain steamed white rice, and four options flavoured with herbs, legumes and dried fruit. I had a lamb skewer with the herb rice - every bite was a bit of heaven. My friend had the chicken pieces and only let me sample one bite. What bumps up the price is the yoghurt and pickle options. The condiment set up is pretty much a takeaway only- the small serving is several dollars and pretty big. It would would would be good to get a mini serving of yoghurt and pickle for $2-3 extra. Because what is a tasty roast meat without the cooling cucumbery yogurt or the sweet, umami blast of pickle? I have been here few times and each time had the worse service, drinks won't be served prior the dinner u need to fight over a drink for kids, and it's not coca cola it's the cheap COLA. Owner stands over customers and tells them not to fill their plate at a Buffett! Worst dining experience I have ever had. On my very first trip to the buffet as I was putting food on my plate I heard the owners voice speaking over me, I look up and he is staring straight at me with a stern look on his face and saying "do not fill your plate, leave some for other guests" I was shocked this was my first trip to the buffet, there was hardly anyone there, no line and my plate was half empty. I then explained I am getting food for both my husband and children who can't leave he table. He persisted to say I need to leave food for other guests. I felt disgusted really unwelcomed and wanted to leave straight away but we had driven nearly 2 hours and were meeting guests. Speechless I went back to my table, my husband could see I was upset and I explained to him what happened. He spoke with the owner and said he would come over to apologize. A while later he comes over stands over me again and says "Did I upset you?" before I could finish talking he interrupted me so I would stop talking and proceeded to tell me everything he did at the buffet and explained why he said what he said? I couldn't get a word in. Hardly an apology! So if you're reading this now here is what you need to know. DO NOT HAVE A BUFFET if you cannot handle customers filling their plate...Remember YOU CHOSE to advertise a buffet. NEVER tell your customer not to fill their plate, that is disgusting behavior and there is no excuse for it, people come to your establishment to enjoy themselves and have a good time not to be intimidated by the owner on how much they eat when they first arrive! People don't care what the last people did. GET AWAY from the buffet, people can feel you watching them fill up their plates and you are putting them off and loosing customers. It's clear you have an issue with how much people are eating, if you can't handle it remove yourself from the business before you lose it. if you don't want to serve people any longer SELL THE BUSINESS or retire and move on. Iranians are known for their hospitality you seem to be over it because your behavior at your own establishment is an embarrassment. Finally, I have seen many negative reviews and read your creative responses to these customers trying to defend yourself, which is a joke. The biggest complaint you have is charging a 1 year old at $25 a head which I agree is ridiculous because you did It to me. Your response is people should CALL AHEAD AND CHECK THE PRICING?! No one does that because Kids under 2 are usually always FREE because they eat practically nothing. My daughter's baptism was held at Persian Basement on 12 February. We had 55 guests (from various backgrounds) attending this event. All guests commented how great the food was. The service was outstanding and we were well looked after bythe staff. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for great food and service. read more
