She is an exceptional brow artist because she is careful, thoughtful and caring and skilled. I was also assured to know that she is an experienced permanent makeup instructor of over 10 years and I have seen her classroom. I was able to trust her to do my permanent brow makeup and she did an excellent job and I am forever grateful that I have beautiful brows now. I have also come to know that she is a caring and wonderful person and a delight to interact with during my treatments. I understand that some people may be interested in enrolling in the academy and are interested in a quality education, and I absolutely recommend it. I advise whoever reading my review to be very discerning about where some negative reviews may be coming from and what their intentions may be...because I have experienced nothing but the positive with both the owner and the business, and I'm speaking from personal experience and I am a satisfied and loyal client.

The true character of a business is revealed when concerns arise and mistakes happen, and based on my experience, Fox Microblading Academy fell short in several key areas. From the start, I felt pressured to leave a positive review before even receiving what I paid for as a student. After looking further into other reviews, I noticed that I was not alone in this experience--several others have shared similar concerns. The sign-up process is handled by Alan, the business owner, but once payment is made, all communication is handed off to Maritza, who oversees the training. Alan's role is mostly limited to IT matters, meaning there is little long-term accountability or direct support from him. This structure left me feeling misled about the level of involvement and guidance I would receive. The training itself was extremely disappointing and did not provide the hands-on experience I was expecting. While I anticipated learning practical skills, Maritza controlled most of the procedure on my model, leaving me with very little opportunity to gain real experience. My role was reduced to filling in a few lines, which did not give me the confidence I needed to move forward in this field. Additionally, my model was unhappy with the final shape--something that was outside of my control. We are looking for removal which is an extra cost to fix the problem!!!! Maritza's teaching approach did not align with what I would expect from a professional instructor. When I raised concerns, I did not feel I received constructive guidance. Instead, her responses came across as defensive rather than supportive. In my experience, a great educator should help students grow, but I did not feel that level of mentorship in this program. After multiple attempts to address my concerns through email, I received no response for over two months. When I eventually disputed the charge with my bank, I was shocked to see that in her response to my financial institution, Maritza characterized me unfairly, making accusations that I believe were completely unjustified. Another issue I encountered was the discrepancy between the advertised learning environment and the actual setup. The academy has since moved to a much smaller location, but their promotional materials still depict a more polished space. This difference was disappointing, as it did not match my expectations based on their marketing. For $2,499, I expected high-quality education, mentorship, and ongoing support. Instead, I left feeling underprepared and unsupported. **There are many other academies that provide structured training, hands-on experience, and continued mentorship--essential factors for success in this industry. For anyone serious about microblading, I strongly recommend researching other programs to ensure you receive the training and support you need.

Taking a person's word on whether they can duplicate what you are asking for isn't good enough for me. She does a lot of permanent makeup corrections from other artists mistakes. She also SOLELY does permanent makeup and therefore this is her expertise. Alongside, she's an attractive woman!! You want someone who looks good themselves trying to make you look good!!! I wouldn't want an overweight gym instructor to train me to lose weight, why would I want an unattractive person trying to make me look good? My first procedure with April was in 2007. I have short and thin eyebrows and had to draw/fill in the ends before I left the house. She did such an amazing job in making sure that my eyebrows would look NATURAL!!!! She even did my lash enhancement for me and added eyeliner for such an amazing combo deal with the eyebrows. 2010- I went back for a touch up- went on too many sunny trips and faded out my brows. Even when they were fading it was natural and no one noticed, but I did of course and needed April's touch! Jan 2014- Was looking for April's contact info because I needed a touch up (I need to start using hats more often to keep from the eyebrow fading) and saw all these horrible reviews and couldn't believe it! I felt the need to write a review on yelp. Just went in yesterday and the service is still great. I want my eyebrows a little thicker with hair strokes and so far so good. Should have taken an antihistamine before the eyeliner touch up because I looked like hitch with my swollen eyelids. Day 2 is better than Day 1. Eyebrows look so great and I am glad I trusted her with going a little thicker. Will be going back in 6 weeks for follow up retouch and added hair strokes for dimension. Just got done getting my eyebrows done today and I was nervous as heck! My hair stylist told me…read moreabout April from one of her clients. Her blonde client's eyebrows looked so great I had to get mine done right away! I booked my appt with April for the next week and then started reading and asking around about the pain, etc... I began to get very nervous reading about the pain and bad experiences people had at many places! People I know that have gotten it done before told me it just feels like scratching and it's not that bad. I am a big baby when it comes to pain and warned April when I got there :-) I got there and April was just finishing up on a patient and didn't have to wait for too long, but even if I did I understand that she's the only one in her office that does the tattooing, so I expected to wait. She got me numbed up for the full 45 mins and we discussed what I wanted and she drew what they would look like. After we perfected look, the tattooing began. At first it felt like she was taking an electric shaver to my brows, didn't hurt at all! Then as the process went on, being the baby that I am, it did start to hurt like a normal tattoo to me anyway. So if you've ever got a tattoo before it feels like that so expect some pain but it is tolerable. I am extremely happy with the results and can't wait till they heal to see the true color and total look. I will post before and after pictures when they heal. I will say don't be afraid to ask lots of questions, April will answer them all. I probably sounded really paranoid and mentioned I was nervous many of times :-) (This is the only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because I felt like I had to ask a lot of questions since I didn't know much about it at all and it just came natural to April since she's had so many clients, but a little more explaining of the process would help out a beginner client like me) Update......... It has now been 9 days since the procedure and I wake up every morning and think WOW, why didn't I get this done sooner! I LOVE my eyebrows and couldn't be more happy. As far as the healing process, yes the first 4 days or so they are pretty dark, but once the scabbing from the tattoo fell off by day 7, they look AMAZING!
