Ok I don't know what happened but it was like a new gal helped me but it was her. She tinted my daughter eyebrows and she looked like a clown, I had to go home and take it all off with baking soda. But the worst part is she was trying to convince my 11 year old that sunblock causes cancer and it is better to not wear it. I was super excited about my appointment with Julie based on reading other reviews, but left after my service extremely deflated with buyer's remorse. I've been trying to undo my lash lift since I left as my lashes are now a complete disaster. It also states everywhere you look about lash after-care including on Julie's website that lashes CANNOT get wet for 24 hours after service. She poured tons of eye drops in my eyes and they were wet and messy as can be. I specifically searched for the effect of eye drops on lash lifts and it explicitly says absolutely not for 24 hours. So that's a bummer that immediately after my expensive service, my eye lashes were soaked. Not to mention my puffy irritated eye lids and squished eye lashes in all different directions. Lastly, I believe any business owner should make all people feel welcomed and leave their political agendas and opinions at the door. Clients shouldn't be subjected to a litany of political complaints and anti-mask beliefs regardless if they agree or not. Time, place, manner. I was really turned off by her boldness on this topic since she has no idea where I fall on the spectrum. So she either made an assumption about me or flat out doesn't care what I think and wanted to use the appointment as her way of saying "F you" to Covid guidelines. I'm not sure but it was very bizarre to me. I'm not one to post negative reviews and understand many businesses are under a lot of financial stress right now. Incredible how unprofessional Julie is. I came to my appointment on time and Julie did not arrive until 10 minutes after my scheduled visit. Respectfully, I wore my mask because obviously covid-19 is an issue Orange County is still dealing with. She told me to "take off my mask" because she "doesn't do masks," and proceeded to complain the entire time how she despised masks and ranted about the stupidity of the pandemic. How awkward!! What an awful way to present yourself to a new client and very, VERY, unprofessional to push your political views onto your customer. Also, very rude how she was on her phone the whole time! Picking up phone calls in the middle of the service and texting. Can that not wait until I leave? She also does NOT accept card payment! She asked that I pay cash or Venmo her and her third option was the honor system of just paying her the next time I come in. Ma'am, how odd of you to assume that I would continue to come back. I'm not quite sure where to begin with this review of Julie. I arrived earlier than my appointment. Upon walking into the salon, she announced "Oh, are YOU the late one"? Er, me late, no...actually, I was 10 minutes EARLY! This greeting put a bad taste in my mounth and things just went downhill from there. First of all, Julie talked about her personal medical problems to other employees while she was doing my brows. TMI! I could care less about your personal medical problems, I am here to get my brows done, nothing more than that. She also has a rude manner about her. When I asked her if her waxing would be pain free, she said rudely, "Of course, I wouldn't have a brow bar if it was painful". Maybe so, but you could have told me that in a nicer manner. I also asked her to lower the chair since I am short and she just stood there and ignored me. My brows are so-so. I've had better work done by people who treated me a hella lot better. Would I return here again? Hellz no! There are way too many people in Newport Beach who can do brows and not treat their clients in this manner. Actually, Julie had an abrubt manner with me on the phone when I made the appointment, so I was leery of even keeping the appointment despite the all the glowing Yelp reviews. I've got thin, uneven, super blonde brows that have always been a mess. That is, until I found Julie. She did an amazing job at making my brows look even and natural. She also tinted them the perfect dark blonde shade (I've had them tinted before and they were dark brown - not a good look on a pale towhead like me).
