My initial interactions with Shawn began when I was looking to get a cover up of an old tattoo…read morereworked and cleaned up. From the moment I introduced myself to him, he was warm, friendly, and welcoming. He immediately put me at ease with a well thought out plan on how to fix up and rework the piece. He took the time to listen to my thoughts and offered creative suggestions. Shawn was transparent from the beginning that he stands behind his work fully and will do whatever it takes to bring your vision to light. Beyond his integrity, the thing that stood out most to me was how incredibly passionate Shawn is about the reputation of his shop. How deeply he cares about the business that he has undoubtedly put his heart and soul into building. How meaningful it is to uphold his standing as an honest and reputable shop. Shawn not only cares about the craft of tattooing but he genuinely cares about every customer that he interacts with. It is a truly daunting endeavor to put your trust in a tattoo artist in the hopes that they will take your ideas and design and transplant them skillfully onto your skin for you to display permanently. It can easily go so wrong. However, I am so pleased that Shawn was able to make it right.

BEST TATTOO SHOP IN NEW JERSEY FOR SURE!!! My bf and I came in for him to look at some tattoos. He…read moretold one of the tattoo artist that he was looking to spend $100-$150 on a tattoo. The guy said to get an idea of what he wants. After, looking he found a few that he liked. But, wasn't in his price range. The man then said well we do have an apprentice here today you can take a look at her art and let us know. My boyfriend was thinking okay I'm assuming she charges around my price range. He asked how much it would be and the guy said it is free!!! My boyfriend was all in at this point. He had an amazing experience with Claire and left with a bad ass tattoo. He even went back a few weeks after that and got another one. The owner Shawn is amazing!! He's super nice. Even talked about the New Jersey devils while getting his tattoo done. Over all an amazing experience. The vibe is great everyone just talking and laughing. Every single one of the staff members are great as well. Unfortunately, Claire isn't doing free tattoos anymore. But, he's definitely thinking on spending some money to have her to tattoo him again. THANK YOU NORTH JERSEY. ALSO SHOUT OUT TO CLAIRE. Wanna check her art out? Her instagram is @ckconnellydraws

I'm in town for a couple days and wanted to get a NJ outline tattooed on me with my friend Katie. I…read moredon't care how cliche or lame you might think that is.. I grew up in NJ... and now live in GA and gotta represent. I have 11 tattoos: they're all for me, and this is what I want. :) I emailed the guys here on Sunday asking if they take walk-ins because I'm only in town til Tuesday, so I was hoping to slide in on Monday. I thought it was likely they were closed on Sun and Mon because my normal shop in GA *IS* (and I think most shops are as well) - but no, SS is open 7 days a week. WIN! John got back to me pretty quickly and said come on in around 1:30-2 and we'll work something out. Katie and I showed up around 1:30, which is half hour after the shop opens. I expected them to be slow on a Monday, which they seemed to be. Good day to slide in if you have the flexibility to choose! Immediately I noticed how clean the place smelled and looked. I later found out they've been open for about 6 months, and it's apparent they take pride in their work space. Patrick, the owner, told me he and 5 of his buddies built the whole inside of this place - a shop that is attached to a dress shop, and you almost miss it from the road. There are couches in the front by the window on a clean light brown wood floor. The front desk is a wood and marble looking mixture and the walls are cleanly painted, simple and with awesome art hanging. It's just days after Thanksgiving and they have their Christmas tree up, which I love. There are 3 or 4 rooms to get tattooed in. John took Katie who was getting hers on the back of her neck. Patrick took me to tattoo my arm (inside by the elbow). We both got the exact same thing, so once it was on paper, the rest went by pretty fast. The actual tattoo took all of 4 minutes - and that was WITH he and I chatting about rescuing dogs and cats :) When all was said and done, I had a great experience at a great price at Sacred Souls.. and feel like I will definitely be back next time my Tattoo-needs and NJ-travels overlap :) I'd recommend anyone check out this conveniently-located, friendly and talented shop!

Not enough reviews on this place so I thought I'd chip in! Went there years ago and loved the work…read moreCole did. When you walk in, it looks like you're walking into a spa. It's so clean. There are no clip art charts cluttering the walls or anything. They are patient and kind. I do have a special story to tell. I recently lost my fiance to cancer, and there was a particular tattoo he wanted me to get, but he wanted to design. He lost the motor skills to do it. After he passed, I was driving around with a few things and I decided to stop in. At this point, I was letting fate guide me. Jacob was the one who greeted me at the desk. I explained everything to him and he asked the exact right questions. He asked me if I wanted him to call me when he was fine to check out his sketch and I declined. After the funeral, I picked up a giant painting that he had stashed at his parent's - it was the only solid piece of work I had of his. When I went in for my appointment, Jacob showed me his sketch and I nearly cried. He absolutely nailed it, just from asking me questions. I showed him the picture of my fiance's artwork, and he made sure he shaded everything in perfectly. I cried again afterwards :) I couldn't have dreamed of a better tattoo. It is absolutely perfect.
