They sold me a car, assuring me that it was certified, thoroughly inspected , no issues, and I even paid extra for the warranty , only to find out after my engine light came on after 1 month, took it to dealership to get checked out and was told so many things wrong.. been in a wreck, repaired improperly, missing parts, parts installed incorrectly, basically a total mess underneath, warranty voided due to modifications.. told not to drive it ,told to take it back, and I did, basically told me it was my choice to buy it.. they knew it was trashed, don't believe anything they say, I would not buy a piece of bubble gum from these people.. read more

They will sell you an overblown fake warranty for $3,000 that is conducted through a 3rd party and not worth a dime, cannot be used at any reputable mechanic. I DREAD car shopping. But when my old car died, my husband and I made the drive down to Rivergate to the land of the car dealerships to see what kind of deal we could get. Perkins Motor Plex had great inventory and several options of the vehicle we'd had our eye on. They handed us the keys and let us take off with the vehicles we were interested in. They didn't say a word to us when we kept them an hour past closing time on a Friday night (unbeknownst to us, of course, until we saw the signage on the door while leaving). Still feel bad about that one. Grant Gustafson was low pressure, a class act, and made the process incredibly easy for us. We made it clear that we had our own financing and they were easy to work with, making sure we had all the paperwork we needed. They were also incredibly patient with our kids as we signed the paperwork, who were tired of car shopping and were acting a little crazy. Overall, we feel like we got a great deal and we're so happy with the car itself. If and when we need a new (used) vehicle, we'll definitely return to Perkins to see Grant! read more

This was my first time purchasing a vehicle online without haven't ever seeing the vehicle first hand. Over all my experience was good but a few things I'd like to mention for someone doing this for the first time as well. Not seeing a vehicle in person can have some disadvantages. The vehicle it's self seems to be mechanically sound (driven only for 2 days so far) but cosmetically I feel some things wasn't pointed out by the dealer. When a dealer list a vehicle for a online sale I believe photos should be of high quality and very detailed. There is some cosmetic damages that was not pointed out and also some interior wear that was never shown. I can live with these issues obviously but knowing before hand would had been nice. The vehicle didn't have a owners manual which was never disclosed, the air filter for intake was never replaced through their inspection even though it seemed to be heavily clogged and in use for some time. Also the intake mounting is damaged, only 2 bolts holding the lid on causing a poor seal for the system. Second, the delivery of the vehicle wasn't what I expected. After agreeing to purchase the vehicle they send an email stating they would rather drive the truck +400 miles to me to help reduce cost. I didn't necessarily like this idea but agreed to it just to make the process easier for them. Second the vehicle was delivered later then the arranged time, close to 9:30pm in the dark and below a 1/4 tank of fuel. I would have imagined this to go a little differently but lesson learned. I just relocated to Nashville and the last thing I wanted to do was shop around for a car. Unfortunately, I totaled mine and had no option. Scott was VERY patient with me. We walked around the lot (it was 97 degrees) opening vehicles I was slightly interested in to judge the interior. I had to have leather, a sun roof, and low miles. Buying Experience for 2012 Ford Expedition: Purchased car based on listing in Autotrader.com. Car looked great in pictures and was listed at a fair price based on listed accessories. Sales person, Josh, was easy to work with and aided in getting a fair trade-in for my 2008 Nissan Armada, offering fair price for Ford, and working out delivery to MS. Once delivered though, I realized that some of the electronics did not work. I contacted Josh to make him aware. Josh of Perkins Motorplex reimbursed me $283.20 for the repair of items 2 & 4 below, and $60.41 for the control module that I installed after researching the internet for the fix for Item 1 (Love YouTube because the dealer estimate to repair heated and cooled seats was $600.00). The other items are deemed not covered by Perkin's Warranty and the manager for Perkins said none of them should have been paid for. The problem with that claim is this fact: The items were not working when the car was delivered to me though listed on the advertisement. This deal was made over the web. There is an inherent trust placed by the consumer (me) in the seller (Perkins Motorplex of Paducah, KY) that the item and it's accessories listed for sale are consistent with the advertisement. The deal was made based on listed accessories which implies they are working. Upon receipt the ones listed below were not and that just taints the whole experience. 1. Heated/Cooled Seats 2. Front and Rear Sensors 3. Remote Start - This item was listed in the NADA report provided by Perkins as proof of car value. 4. No Factory code for the keypad on door. 5. Rear control for Heating/Air Conditioning and The rear passenger heated seat unit I purchased another car (2007 Toyota Highlander for 16 year old son - his first car!) per an on-listing (cars.com) at a Lexus dealership in Birmingham, AL. That time, we drove to pick it up and all was just as listed. Great experience, and fair price. Comments: Josh Kennemore is a good salesman to work with on a purchase. He treated me fairly and in good faith and it the only reason some of the non-working items I took to get repaired or repaired myself were covered. Perkins Motorplex's car inspection process did not ensure that all items listed in the advertisement were operational. The current estimate from the dealership to repair the items is $200 to $1000.00. Scott Clap, Used Car Manager for Perkins Motor Plex, stated that it was a used car and it is understood that items on used cars do not always work and the items in question were not covered by their warranty. I asked him if they should be working when you purchase the car and he asked where do you draw the line. There are two sides but I wanted to tell mine. My husband and I visited TONS of local lots and I was (TBH) nervous about buying from a "smaller" lot. I have only ever purchased from bigger dealerships of the actual car make I was buying. The FIRST time we pulled into Perkins Motor Plex in Madison, TN, I immediately just felt at home. Every vehicle was open with ease to look and sit in vehicles as you wanted. That was a huge deal for me because we didn't have to wait time and time again for someone to run in and get keys. We first met Nathan H. and he was no-pressure and so friendly, I was excited to return later that week and see their updated inventory of what they were expecting. Next, we met Eric and he was a gem. He was open and honest about each vehicle and understood our budget requirements and what we felt comfortable with. When I fell in love with something that he really felt was going to be a stressful long term maintenance decision, he was honest and told us just that. Next visit (yes we returned a lot and each time we were never made to feel like a bother) we met Grant G. Seriously, one of the nicest men ever. I just think you can't go wrong with any of the wonderful salesmen that work there. Grant was honest and straightforward but eager to get us in the car of our dreams. He worked and pushed and made it happen and even had coloring books and crayons for our kiddos and the Disney Channel waiting on them while we did the deal. Overall, we will go back to Perkins in Madison for any of our vehicle needs. They are never pushy, understand everyone's needs and budget, and want your trust and relationship as a customer more than just being a number on their "car sold this month board." This post is far overdue. Let me start by saying that I, like most people, HATE going to car dealerships. However, Perkins was very easy to deal with and made sure I got the car I wanted at a price that worked for my budget. They also did not try to oversell packages and were honest that frankly, I didn't need it all. They had a warranty on the car, and when I had AC problems within the first few days, I brought it back and they happily fixed it at no cost to me. I was also overcharged about $30 for registration, and they mailed a check to me covering the amount. Honestly, I would have never been the wiser about the overcharge, and thought that it was amazing that they took the initiative to make me whole for something that I was unaware of in the first place. I've had my car now for 5 years, and I've had no issues whatsoever besides that one. The owners here actually care, and want to help you. I purchased one car before my Mazda, and one after, and Perkins was the best auto experience I've had. If I ever live near Nashville again, 10/10 I would use their services again! read more
