Wife just showed up for an oral exam that was scheduled 3 months ago. After the surgeon looks at my wife's mouth (no x rays, etc.) She returns to the waiting room to retrieve her purse. She tells me they are asking for $150. I asked why? She felt uncomfortable and asked me to come with her to ask. I asked why no charges were talked about before the exam. A woman behind the desk claimed it was explained in a "welcome packet". My wife says she never received a packet. I asked for a copy of this so called letter. While this woman was looking for the paper. Another woman came in to the conversation. She says it is a cost they were not sure insurance would cover or not. And would refund our money if they did. I asked why they did not do a pre-approval before our visit. They had 3 months. I got no response. She then goes on to explain how she was going to send partial pre-approvals for the whole job, because she was unsure if we would max out or not. So even after the $150 we are still not going to know the total out of pocket cost. Still no explanation of the no pre-approval for the visit. Still waiting for this welcome packet... I tell my wife this looks like a scam. They never authorized a charge the and now require payment?!? The surgeon my wife was seeing now comes to the counter. Aggressive and confrontave, saying what a reputable business they were. Seeming offended I dare question their sketchy practices. Now I have 3 people confronting me at once and frankly feeling attacked. I told him I did not need his interjection. Just the supposed copy of the paper we were suppose to get before we came. He continues to be belligerent and the first lady hands me the copy of the supposed letter. I didn't even read it. I told him it didn't matter at this point. The way he was talking and acting torwards me, he would not be getting my business anyway. After I walk out I ask my wife about the letter. She had never seen it before. And it was dated with today's date! In one part it reads "we will be happy to answer any questions you have concerning financial arrangements". Yeah, with a team of pissed off triggered people outraged you dare to question anything! I read on more and see the charge is $105 not $150. Never got to ask Dr Scam what the extra $45 was for. And frankly do not care. I did not authorize any charge. If insurance doesn't pay. They won't be getting it from me. We will find a reputable surgeon. And will be advising (our Dentist) to no longer refer to this place. BEWARE OF THIS ONE! I think another post from two weeks ago calls this place a "cash grab". Sounds appropriate.....

This office billing is very dishonest. They quote fees and bill way higher. I will never have treatment there again.

I was extremely nervous going in, but Dr. George and the entire staff were fantastic at explaining what was going to happen, walking me through my options, and helping me feel calm and informed throughout the process. The treatment itself ended up requiring three visits instead of the two originally expected. The area involved was larger than anticipated and needed extra time to dry properly before being fully sealed. I also had to return once more to adjust some remaining cement that was affecting my bite. While the additional visits were inconvenient, everything was handled carefully and thoroughly, and I appreciated the attention to getting it right. Because I had such a positive experience with Dr. George, I chose to also meet with the periodontist associated with the same practice, Dr. Yang. Unfortunately, that consultation did not go well for me. The recommendations were delivered very abruptly, and I ultimately chose to seek a second opinion elsewhere. I will be working with a different periodontist for that portion of my care. That said, I would absolutely recommend Salmon Creek Endodontics for endodontic work. Dr. George is skilled, patient, and compassionate, and his staff made what could have been a very stressful experience much easier to get through.

When I returned for my next due cleaning, the hygienist told me she could only clean 1/4th of my teeth due to periodontal disease and that i would need another appointment to complete the cleaning. Feeling a bit embarrassed for missing my regular schedule, I agreed. She then spent 30 minutes capturing the depth of my gum pockets because her aide was not well trained and could not record the measurements on her own. The dentist came and looked at my teeth and said I had a cavity to be filled and would need to come back for that as well. Total time in office including dental exam and cleaning 1/4th of my teeth - 1 hour. I came back for the filling which was done very efficiently (hence reason for not giving this business a "1" ).The hygienist then spent 30 minutes cleaning the rest of my mouth. Total charge for the cleaning and 15 minute cavity = $770! I made an appointment for my next cleaning and confirmed that these would now be standard teeth cleaning. When I moved my appointment back a couple weeks I confirmed - standard cleaning. When I returned for my "standard cleaning", I confirmed with the hygienist that this was a standard cleaning . She replied that it was periodontal maintenance and that once I had "periodontal disease" I could no longer have preventative maintenance and would now need periodontal maintenance which cost $150 using the Cigna Savings Plan, while standard cleaning was $90. I told her that I had confirmed that this would be a standard cleaning and that I was prepared to pay the $90 but felt I had been ripped off on the last 2 visits and would go elsewhere if they would not agree. She said that was my choice and I left without the service. I never questioned the additional appt but feel like I was totally taken for a ride paying $770 for 15 minutes of the dentists time and 105 minutes of the hygienist. This reminds me of when so many dentists were pushing the teeth grinding mouth guards. Now the periodontal disease is the latest over charging practice that is way out of line for the minimal increase in time that they spend. By the way, in my lifetime I have had gum gaps of mostly 2-3 with a couple of 4's. This hygienist recorded 4-5 all around my mouth and reported bleeding everywhere ( I have zero blood when I brush and floss). The dentist did a great job, but it seems their practice depends upon over charging for the basics.

First was the front desk scheduled me for a cleaning at the end of December (after I already had my two insurance approved cleanings that year). They're supposed to keep track of that stuff and let you know if this visit will need to be out of pocket or not, which if I had known I already had my two cleanings for the year, I would've gladly waited a few weeks till the new year for my next cleaning. Well they let me do it and then tried to charge me for it, but thankfully they realized it was their mistake and they didn't make me pay. But shortly after another mishap happened. This time they had referred me out to another office to go get X-rays on my wisdom teeth, which counted towards my insurance as a "oral examination". Nobody told me this and that it would take away from my next cleaning. So when I went to get my second cleaning for the year, they did it. But didn't inform me beforehand that it wouldn't be covered by my insurance.. they hit me with a bill and they said I had been seen elsewhere. After bunches of phone calls I figured out it's because the X-rays I had at the other place. I told them this is the second time they've not informed me beforehand about me being responsible for the bill, because again I would've waited had I known so I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. This time they told me they would not take care of it, and I was liable for it or they'd send it to collections. The cleanings themselves were always good, the dentist was nice. I just can't recommend going here when the front desk is always messing up scheduling and costing you money unnecessarily, and not taking accountability for it either. They should be more diligent and inform customers beforehand if there will be charges out of pocket. I won't be back.

However, the insurance verification staff could use a lot of improvement. My husband and I have ALWAYS been under the periodontal maintenance plan which is a deep cleaning every 4 months instead of every 6 months. We were on a dental plan in 2023 that had no waiting period for these deep cleaning at only $125 per visit. But the insurance staff told me this plan was terrible and that I should upgrade it because it was too hard to bill the ala carte delta dental clear plan on their end. So I switched the plan in 2024 per their instructions. Well, now there is a 12 month waiting period and my husband and I are not covered for exact treatment plan that they gave us for deep cleanings every 4 months. We need to pay $200 out of pocket for the treatment plan that we were given. And now we are paying a high monthly dental premium for no reason because what we need isn't even covered. We should have stuck with our original clear delta dental plan. Do your due diligence and call and check your insurance on your own before going here. Or go somewhere else where you aren't given conflicting information about changing delta plants/etc.

He also told me there would be no charge for the second ct-scan. Worried about my single-tooth problem I endured the second scan. A week later: Dr. Hovey sat down in his office with me and started to talk, not about the tooth I was sent to him for, but something completely different, something that was not even discussed with me at my prior appointment: He did the second full mouth ct-scan without consulting me for his hidden agenda, to sell me a $ 5000.00 Lanap laser treatment for a periodontal problem I did not even know I had. Unsure if he really tried to scam me, I later went to another Periodontist (who also had this type of laser in his office) and this Periodontist positively confirmed that a Lanap laser treatment was not needed in my case. I felt Dr. Hovey tried to scam me into this expensive procedure with a fake diagnosis. The new Periodontist fixed a small problem for under $ 400 and I had no problem ever since. Before I left Dr. Hovery's office after the dreadful appointment, I ask him about the tooth the actual referral was written for... He answered, 'Oh, no problem found there' (meaning = no money made there). Unbelievable behavior and in my opinion anyone should stay away from this office. Reading Dr. Hovey's other one star reviews, it seems like I'm not the only patient Dr. Hovey was trying to pressure into a Lanap treatment. It is just to bad that some so called professionals can't be trusted.
