I own a 2011 BMW 335i Coupe with 50,000 miles on the engine. I am the second owner having purchased the vehicle off-lease from the first owner with 14,000 miles after 3 years. The vehicle has been well-maintained with all regularly-scheduled maintenance complete and done on time by BMW dealerships. The car is in excellent shape and looks great. It has been gently driven, mostly highway - so much so that I am still on the original brakes. I love the car! So I was astonished when the car engine seized up while driving down a city street on a weekend afternoon in Chicago going about 35 mph. No warning lights of any sort. Just BAM! I had the car towed to Perillo BMW, who had been doing my service while I have been living in Chicago. After about 10 days of back and forth, BMW USA and Perillo agreed to replace the engine with just a small co-pay from me. Nobody can explain why the engine blew, but the maintenance records were complete (all BMW-certfied service and parts) and the vehicle looked to be extremely well-maintained. Also, I am of an age where it is unlikely that I had been driving the vehicle like a race car. BMW and Perillo really stepped up to the plate and proved the value of premium brands. The situation could have become unpleasant but they were consummate professionals - courteous and helpful at every turn. Israel Rodriguez (Perillo Service Director) and Angelo Montalbano (Perillo Service Consultant) at Perillo were particularly helpful. A loaner car was provided. Kudos to BMW USA and Perillo BMW for doing the right thing and delighting a longstanding BMW client. I am now more loyal to the brand than ever. read more

I recently purchased a 00 BMW M Roadster. The Radio needed a code to work. I contacted Perillo BMW and spoke to Angelo in the service department. I wasn't sure about the service because it was such an old car, but he scheduled an appointment for me to come in and got to work on the car himself. He came back 20 minutes later and said "no charge" and provided me with the code in case the car lost power again. Great experience and customer service. I will definitely be bringing my car in to Joe Perillo for future maintenance and work. Great experience with my first (used) BMW. read more

Service prices not reasonable compared to other BMW dealership prices. Under the guise of providing good service, they recommend all sorts of things that are not needed - when questioned, service managers agree that they are not needed. Example: your battery is 5yrs old and we recommend replacing - $595(!). Question: is there anything wrong with the battery. Answer: no. This is the second time I've left this dealership feeling nickel-and-dimed. I am not frugal by nature and happy to pay for good service and work. Where they really lost me though is when I got home and realised that they had branded my X5 with cheap plastic "Joe Perillo" license plate frames, suggesting that somehow I am interested in providing this dealership with free advertising everywhere I go. Is this even legal? =) read more

Can't say enough about how great my experience was here. I had my search narrowed down to a few vehicles and after going to a couple other dealers, I set up an appointment with Vanessa. When I walked in she was quick to greet me and had a car ready for a test drive. She was extremely knowledgeable and was quick to answer all of my questions. I had a tight window in order to get a car before having to leave on an extended trip. Sitting down after the test drive, Vanessa found the exact car that I wanted at another location and had it ready for me within a matter of days. Even after acquiring the vehicle, Vanessa continues to check in to make sure everything is going okay and see if I have any questions. Similarly, Sebastian made the leasing process a breeze. I look forward to continue doing business with them. read more

I came into Perillo BMW 1035 N Clark St with a flat tire on my 2021 X7 at 5pm on my way to the airport the EXCELLENT GUY ALEX PADALKO went the extra mile & showed care for me got my tire replaced & also approved for replacement under my warranty so I wouldn't have to pay because I was under such a slim timeframe!! GREAT GUY!! I'm sure to look for him ANY time I have to visit in the future!! That was VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! read more

I bought my x1 here and have been bringing it back for maintenance and service for four years with fairly pleasant results until today. I brought my car in for oil change and maintenance and wish I had stayed home. Only about half the staff are wearing masks correctly. Many have them pulled down to expose their nose or just wearing around their necks. Most customers in the waiting room are doing the same so there is nowhere to sit if trying to stay safe. Check out the owners reply and ask yourself if you want to do business with someone who divulges a customers personal info in response to a bad review. Terribly unethical. read more

Best of the Best!!! I had been shopping for my car for about a month. I kept coming back to a Pre-Owned 2009 BMW 328i xDrive with a manual 6 speed located at Perillo BMW in Chicago. Upon contacting them, I was responded to right away, even though it was an hour and a half after they were closed. Sean Cueva was very personal and informative and assured me that my 3 hour drive would not be wasted. So, we drove to Chicago and found the dealership. Parking was easy due to them allowing us to pull into the Service Department and we were promptly greeted in a very professional manner. We met with Sean and went for a drive. They offered us more than we expected on our trade in and we shook hands. Credit application was filled out and my wife and I went to lunch. Even though we are rebuilding our credit, Mr. Cueva was able to get us approved at a very competitive interest rate through BMW Finance. We agreed on final numbers, which included a 3 year/75,000 mile Extended Service Plan and gave me a check back to pay off my Harley-Davidson. We signed all of the paperwork and were given a great Delivery Presentation on the vehicle. I love my new whip... Love Perillo BMW... Love Mr. Cueva for his professionalism, commitment to excellence and personality. We will certainly visit again when ready for our next purchase. read more

My expectation was high. I guess you can say that's my fault‍. I thought that I would avoid the "classic" car salesman routine, you know act calm, friendly, get to know something about your customer & then hit them with an outrageous deal. Welp! I was hit with the Novice salesman that took things a step further & have me ridiculously high numbers & I left the dealership before the deal was finalized. I admit, I don't have perfectly good credit but I have established credit which should account for something. After I left the salesman get called me back & told me he was able to talk to his "friend" at the bank & they were able to work out a great deal! Once he explained I was ready to return with cashiers check in hand! Before I could make it to the bank I got a call from the Sales Manager, that the deal was being worked on for the other car I had selected(which I changed my mind before they even began working the numbers) I explained that my salesman & I had a discussion before he went into the finance office & he assured me he was getting numbers for the car I wanted. The Sales manager explained that I would need $2000 more to put down on the car I really wanted, I refused because I had set my downpayment amount and I was comfortable with the amount. So, I canceled the deal & left without the car I wanted. Without adding more money Down my note may have increased about $10-$20 dollars. While deal lost for that amount?! I guess that is the car sales way! I think I'll try Carvana, and see what I get! Thanks for nothing Perillo read more

I just brought my 2016 BMW in for service at Perillo BMW. Alex in the service department gave me 10. Star service! I was also given a loaner car because they thought the work would take 5-6 hours instead of 1-2. I had to take my husband to the suburbs for a CT scan. Alexandria in the office was so professional and got me a car right away. They had two mechanics working on my car and it was done in 2 hours!!! They also washed my car!!! Thank you Alex and Alexandra for your great services read more

Had a great experience here the first time I came in. I needed my front license plate mounted and when I called ahead they said to just come right in. I thought we were going to need to order parts but they recommended I check my trunk and sure enough I already had the mount. They mounted it for free in the matter of minutes. While I was there they topped up my cars fluids and answered general car maintenance questions that I had. Will definitely be back. read more

Perillo misplaced my car durning an oil change? Yes, for real. While I did not buy my car from Perillo I did bring it in for an oil change. Called, scheduled the appointment with no issue. Arrived a little before 9am to drop my car off. Arrived in the service area. I was not greeted by anyone (no biggie). I walked over to the area where the techs were standing where I was yelled to by a tech from across the service area, "just leave your keys in the car" (ok). I walked back, put my keys in the car. Walked back to the tech area and the was told to "head inside to the right". (Ok). When I arrived inside the ladies at the desk they said: "well if you left the keys in the car, there's no reason for you to be in here talking to us. You should be good to go" At 6pm, no word on the status of my oil change. I call & find out the car is not logged in for an oil change. Ummm what? Ok? After being on hold for nearly 30-minutes I finally get a service advisor, Shawn who tells me the car was logged for valet, no oil change. Said, "it sounds like it was a hectic day & basically the intake of my car was not handled correctly." Gee, thanks. So, I get to pick up my car after 8-hours, no oil change. No apology. No offer to make things right. Lovely way for a new customer to be treated. Super disappointing. read more

Pretty good guidance on buying my car. 320i BMW. Although I was given much more for my trade in at Carvana so I traded it in there and went back to Perillo. The battery died a week later and the dealership replaced immediately at no cost. GREAT car. I never received the mats they promised 2 months ago and the salt is doing some damage to the interior bottom so I guess I will go ahead and pay the 100 bucks for some new ones. With that being said, I would still recommend buying a car here. read more

They're great when you're buying the car, but when you bring it in for service they're awful to deal with. They take forever getting your car back to you, are rude, and only give it a complimentary wash half of the time. Last time I brought it in they told me it was ready and it would be out in about 5-6 minutes. Thirty minutes later, they couldn't find my car. It took another 10 minutes for them to locate it, only for it to arrive dirty. read more

The dealership is extremely transparent and helpful. I was paired with Ryan. He was extremely polite and always a phone call away. Called him like 100 times and he would always make himself available. The entire purchase was done online (thanks to the seamless process the team has created in the light of COVID). Ryan was extremely delligent took care of all the finances, paperwork and went above and beyond to arrange for shipment. I would highly recommend to ask for Ryan if you are making an out of state purchase. The guy knows everything. read more

I've received better service at much lower-end dealerships. No follow up on ordered parts, no loaner car offered, car returned with seats moved all the way up and mirrors not even close to original settings, waiting area similar to a Jiffy Lube type of place. And lastly an e-mail asking why I missed my appointment, (I didn't) maybe explains why no follow-up on the parts I was waiting for. read more

UPDATE: also notice how the business owners ONLY respond to the 5 Star Reviews. That says it all. Where do I begin? From the moment I ordered my car in mid 2017, it was chaos. I should've seen the signs and walked away then. Their sales department is a joke. Unless you're getting their top of the line vehicles they treat you like you're ordering a happy meal from McDonalds, not a 45-65k vehicle. Mahmoud was the sales person who ordered my vehicle, 2018 X1. A few months later when the vehicle arrived, I went to approve the order. He had ordered the wrong interior and instead of owning up to the mistake (i had signed and approved the original order with the correct interior), he was more concerned with placing blame and making deals with me to take the incorrect vehicle and taking some money off, if I remember correctly $500. The interior was worth more then $500. Since this was the first car I was purchasing I made the decision to have him reorder the car. But I had to wait another 3ish months. They provided a loaner since that morning I returned my lease. They gave me a loaner which came with base line options and a ton of rules. Mainly not being able to put on more than 75miles a day. When the correct vehicle arrived, I returned the loaner vehicle with an average of 53 miles a day. Almost 5,000 miles in the 3 months I had to drive it. When I returned the vehicle a tall blonde woman (name escapes me) told me how I shouldn't have put that many miles on the vehicle or I should've told them I was putting a lot on the car so they could swap it out. Oh I'm sorry, maybe if you had ordered me the correct car I wouldn't have put any miles on your precious base model BMW. And as I previously stated, I was under the average miles per day allowance. But super awesome of their team to make me feel bad for their mistake. This is a trend I saw often with BMW. Displaced blame. Within 2 weeks of getting the vehicle I had a flat tire. This was not under warranty. Because according to their service team I had NO tire warranty. When was this supposed to be offered to me? Their sales team never offered me a tire warranty. Over the next 12 months I would get 2 more flat tires. In December 2018, the last time I was in for a flat I mentioned that the car was pulling drastically to the left. Their system notes that I mentioned this but shows that no alignment test was done. Even though they recommend an alignment annually. That was at the exact year mark and I was complaining of alignment issues but they did nothing. They also use a text message system to communicate with the customers. My text feed with them shows me texting them after picking the vehicle up with the new tire and experiencing a drastic pull. I asked them what they found out about the car pulling and what was done about it....no response. And most recently, two of the tires that were previously replaced in under the first gear were worn to the wiring. No tread what so ever. When I touched the tire with my finger it pricked it and bled because of the exposed wires. How does a car that has under 20K miles and tires that were already replaced in that 20K wear down to the belt? They said it was because I was an aggressive driver. Yes, the person who has no tickets, no accents, is an aggressive driver that her tires wear to the belt. What a joke. Blame blame blame blame. When I brought the car in at the very end of April for the worn tires they also mentioned that the car is pulling to the left due to an alignment issue. SHOCKER! Didn't I come in 5 months earlier with this issue that you did nothing about? 5 months later the car can't be put into alignment due to a cracked knuckle. After a long weekend, I decided I was done with BMW. In under a year and a half with a brand new vehicle, I was out 5 tires and a broken steering knuckle in under 20K miles. The icing on the cake was the last day I was in the service department to pick up the broken vehicle to drive it to the new dealership where I was selling the crap BMW to and buying another car, Mahmound (the man who originally old me the BMW) walked into the service area. He recognized me said hello and asked how everything was. I informed him of the troubles I'd experience in 15 months and he laughed. He actually laughed. He asked what I was planning to do? I said I bought another vehicle. He said oh what BMW did you get? I laughed back informing him that I would NEVER buy another BMW as long as I live. Do yourself a favor. Lease a BMW never buy one. DO NOT GO TO JOE PERILLO. There is a wonderful dealership in Northfield that I used often when I drove a BWM for work. Honestly that car was a hunk of junk and the service and sales left so much to be desired. And that's all I have to say about that. Jackee read more

I've been going to perillo for a little over a year and haven't had a problem until now. They always came off as having snobby attitudes or bad customers service skills. I don't know by me being African American if I'm treated differently, but it's extremely ridiculous. They had my car for days they didn't provide any updates. The service provider Ana Salgado failed to follow up and had a terrible attitude when I finally got ahold of her. She failed to accommodate me and made a rude remark to as well for me trying to get her to solve the problem. I then had to get a ride up there to speak to the Manager Israel, which he gave me his guarantee that he'd take the steps necessary to make sure my car is properly diagnosed. Israel failed to reach out and provide me with details of my car. So basically he was telling me what I wanted to hear. read more

I bought a 2014 BMW 4 series coupe from here back in October of 2016. Great car at a great price but I was promised a set of carpet mats to go with the rubber mats that were already in the car. They didn't have the mats in stock at the time so I was told they would be sent to me. It's now June of 2017 and several phone calls and reminders later I am still without a set of carpet mats. I've given up on them at this point. Anyone can sell you a car, but when buying a vehicle worth almost $30,000 I expect to be given everything I was promised. There's a reason I drive into the City to work with these people - and just bought my 3rd BMW here. Always professional, always friendly, perfect personal service. This was reinforced when I brought my new electric BMW in with a question. If you have a BMW and are stuck having to do something at the dealer because other shops will not (like an alignment), don't do it at Perillo. Because they won't do it correctly. It's a MacPherson strut suspension on their most popular model ever made (the E30); how difficult can it be? And no, I can't go to any shop to have it done because the "computer says no" to BMW alignments and I have to step foot in the wretched dealership, where everyone's treated like immigrants at Ellis Island when dropping off the cars, accompanied by lough sighs, eye rolling and complaints of "ugh we have no techs today." - gee, maybe if y'all didn't suck so much, your employees would come into work. So, how is a shop only able to do "some of the alignment"? Ask Perillo. Why should a customer be instructed to come back to re-pay for and have the alignment re-done? Ask Perillo. Who was able to successfully do the alignment in one day, and correct the mistakes Perillo made? Patrick BMW. read more

My wife and I traveled over 700 miles from Pennsylvania to Perillo BMW to buy the car of her dreams a 2016 Mineral Gray with Coral red Dakota interior M235. We arrived early and Chris (I believe she was a new car manager) greeted us with a warm welcome and she took us up to the second level so we could admire the car until Mahmoud arrived 10 minutes later. Like I said we were early. Mahmoud brought the car around front and as we were test driving the car he was telling us and showing us all the historical facts around Chicago. My wife and I were highly impressed with the treatment we received during our visit at Perillo BMW and wouldn't hesitate about coming back again. We had a spectacular trip home with her new car! Special thanks to Chris, Gina, and Mahmoud!!! Best regards, Rick & Maryann. read more

Don't purchase your car here! They are snakes, lie to you, and don't even allow mechanics to look at your car before purchasing. I highly recommend buying from enterprise car sales. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience at the service center after we bought a brand new car from them 5 days ago!! Our brand new X5 showed Active Blind Spot Detection Malfunction right after we bought the car driving back home. Texted our sales guy, Alan, right away, he was very nice and responded and tried to offer help. After the issue wasn't fixed, we asked for a service appointment. We had roof cross bars on order with them as well so we decided to stop by after the roof bars were delivered. Alan was quick in getting this appointment scheduled and set everything up. Drove about 50 miles to get to the service appointment, the service rep Chris, told me that there are quite a few cars ahead of me so it would take about 2 hours to get things completed. I told him I would wait and that wasn't an issue. After about 1.5 hours I saw him pull the car up and install the cross bars. I waited for him to complete the installation and then walked up to him exactly 2 hours after the appointment time and asked him if the car was done. He looked at me and rudely told me that "Sir, you can take the car right now, if you need us to look at the malfunction issue you would need to wait because we are extremely busy" I was shocked at his rudeness and asked him how long was the wait. He again extremely rudely told me "I don't know may be 3-4 hours!". I then asked him why he was being so rude and giving me an attitude for a simple question. He got really defensive and told me again to take the car and that he didn't have time. I then asked him to bring the car so I could leave and take the car to another dealership. He brought the car back, left the door open and proceeded to walk away to his desk without saying a word to me. I asked if it was ok to take the car, he ripped some paperwork right in front of me and rudely without looking at me told me, you are all set to leave! He then started to look at his monitor and started cursing. At that point I asked to see a manager and spoke with Cesar Marin who apologized and offered to help. I didn't want to stay there another minute and left without getting my car checked. In 30 plus years of owning cars including 4 BMWs, I have never come across this type of treatment from any dealership, let alone a BMW dealership of all places!! Avoid Perillo BMW. The customer service is terrible, and customer sales are dishonest. I recently purchased a BMW 650 from Perillo. I had earlier leased a BMW 530 from Perillo. While I had not been happy with the customer service, I decided to buy my subsequent car based solely on the location. Their dealership and servicing center is very close to where I live. This turned out to be a big mistake. My 530 still had 3 months left on the lease. The sales person (named Ken Reffsin) told me that I could trade up to the 650 and would not have to make the remaining payments. I did the trade. BMW financing subsequently informed me that the dealer had no right to make the commitment and that I still owed the remaining balance on the 530. Ken Reffsin denied ever having made the offer to me. Perillo management did not address my complaint. His manager Salim Beg actually blamed me for not seeing "red flags" when Ken had recommended that I not wait till the end of my existing lease. So for 3 months I had only one car (the 650) but had to make payments on two cars. My advice to anyone considering buying a new BMW in Chicago - avoid Perillo. read more

They suck. I would give no stars if I could. I purchased 3 cars from them and have serviced them all there. I have never had a problem until I purchased my newest one 2 years ago when they implemented their new awful service model. I have had my car there 7 times for various service issues in the last 2 years which is totally unacceptable. I drove out of the service driveway once and the service light came on 2 miles later. I called the service manager to complain and he never called me back. I then called my salesperson and she had to put the squeeze on service for me, of course, after I threatened to never buy from them again. Friday I had to once again bring my car in because the head light was out (which they changed a few months ago) and for another service light. I pick up my car after they send you this new report "know your car" that explains what they have done with your car to give you "peace of mind" with how they do additional diagnostics while it's there. Well they changed the headlight but did not deal with the OTHER service issue! I am glad that they did additional diagnostics but DID NOT FIX what the actual issue was. This was Friday evening of course so this morning they picked up my car at my house and dropped off the loaner. This no where near makes up for their incompetence. I am convinced that they do nothing with my car while it's there other than wash it. They used to change your wipers during routine service but I have the same crappy wipers every time!! Joe Perillo, if you ever read this-something is very wrong with your service organization and if you have any pride at all you should stand by your loyal customers and get your act together. As for my business, it's way too late, you will never have it again. I will never buy or service a BMW at Perillo again. read more

I think my fellow Yelpers pretty much have this one covered. But after the latest screw up by the incompetents in their body shop (I say latest because I already got jacked over by these guys two years ago to the extent that Mr. Perillo - not Joe - refunded me the cost of the repair - and sucker me decided to give them a second chance), I called Mr. Perillo (not Joe - he owns a dealership - so he is MR. PERILLO) to set up an in-person appointment to share my concerns. I was routed through his secretary (yes they called this guy a secretary - hello the 50's are calling and they want their job titles back) and he returned my phone call five hours later and left the following message. "He is currently out of the office and will return next week. So I can maybe try to arrange something - a telephone conversation or something like that. However he has asked that just because of scheduling concerns if you would be willing to just write your complaint and send it in writing. It would give us a heads up and allow me to brief him on it. And hopefully then we could fit you in somehow." Oh - okay. Sure, would it be easier for Mr. Perillo and his scheduling concerns if I took a little more of my time to document in writing what my issue it????? Would that be easier for him? Cause that is what customer service is all about - what is easier for the business! It's not about seeking to understand where you can strive to do better. It's about putting the people that were compromised by employees who are incompetent and completely unaccountable through the wringer - just a little bit more. Yeah - I'll get right on that. But due to my scheduling constraints - how about I just e-mail you the link to my Yelp reviews for you and your body shop??? Thanks for the time and the concern about your business. read more

Me thinks not in terms of Sales. This Spring I needed to get a new car. I went to Perillo and the sales guy was so passive it was annoying. I didn't know anything about BMW (I planned to purchase an Audi A5 at that time). When I went in, all my questions were answered with "yes" or "no". There was zero attempt to help me identify any better features that a BMW would have over an Audi. I ended up going with a BMW only because of about $10K price savings difference on an Xi model, but I went to another dealership. So now I've had my BMW for about 6 months and the TPM light went on. I live in the city so until this morning and until reading all the reviewes on Yelp, I was planning on calling Perillo to get it checked out. I actually did call the service at 7:30AM, but no one answered. Their service hours show that they start at 7:00AM. I was hoping to take my car in at around noon. Well, thank you all my little Yelpers! From what you all say, it doesn't appear that their service department will be any better than Sales or that they will bent over backwards to get your business. My professional evaluation of this business is that there exists a high probability that results will be poor. I personally will wait couple more weeks and take a day off from work to drive out to Laurel. Maybe others will take a chance, but I recommend not to. There needs to be a decline in demand for this establishment for the service level to improve. read more

I was in the market for an X3 and contemplated going to where the best deal was even if it included the Burbs. A friend of mine said I should try Perillo because she received great service, so I did. To date I've had amazing service, starting with my Sales Advisor Bri to David the (genius) associate. Both have delivered excellent service. Bri made the buying experience pleasant with no pressure. She was attentive and paid attention to what I was saying and moved me into an amazing color choice. She gets 5 stars for that alone. :) Most recently I had an incident with the car and reached out her and she was able to take of it for me which demonstrated her desire to stay close to the customer. David has been just as helpful with my random questions I send him. It's unfortunate that some reviews have yielded bad experiences. It happens. For me I've only experienced the good. I have no problem recommending Perillo. read more

The spirit of yelping runs contrary to ad hominem attacks, therefore measured restraint is in order here. Be wary of visiting this dealership, the aforementioned reviews are correct, as the whole dealership reeks of dodginess and the hard sell. I speculate that Perillo has high car storage and operating costs due to its location. That may motivate them to squeeze, er revenue maximize, every cent from buyers. Be a smart yuppie, drive out to Motor Werks instead. As an aside, I once observed Joe Perillo Jr. partying it up at Redhead 5 years ago....and Joe Perillo in the flesh is who you would expect after seeing the Joe Perillo on the TV commercials. read more

NEVER EVER EVER buy a car from these guys. Service is horrendous. You buy a BMW and get Hundai type customer service. Joe Sr and Jr should be put in jail for running this type of outfit. Every single time I went into this place I left more things wrong with my car then when I went in. And how about the time the license plate holder fell off the front and they wanted me to pay for it even though I had supposed bumper to bumper coverage! They said it might not be a defect, someone might have stolen my plates. Or the time I needed to get a new key and they wanted me to pay $75 just to have the old key decoded?? Or the time they called to tell me my key was ready and to come pick it up only to find out they dont allow you to pick up keys on Saturday? What?? Not even Joe Jr has a key to get the keys on Saturday? What a baboon. I will never ever buy another BMW again and never buy anything from Joe Perillo of course. Hopefully this site helps less people make this HUGE mistake. Buy a BMW, get a Huyndai! read more

I have to give at least one star? A recent trip to Perillo BMW for scheduled maintenance and some new tires resulted in the usual SNAFU. Not only did they install the wrong tires on my vehicle and try to cover it up, but then they claimed the requested tires were unavailable. They even went as far as to claim the tires I requested were not BMW-approved. A few calls to tire shops around Chicago confirmed city-wide availability, and I then provided the dealership with recent articles outlining how all new 3-Series with the performance package would ship with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s I requested. Technically the last few runs of the M3 shipped with the tires, but I know my car isn't an M car. Long story short, the tires are available, and they are BMW-approved. After the initial run-around attempt, the conversation went something like this. Me: "Yeah, I went ahead and ran the DOT numbers through Michelin, and the tires you installed are in fact the wrong ones." Them: silence Me: "And here's the 800 number you can call for Chicago area tire logistics to get the right ones." Them: silence Me: "Oh, and the PS2s are actually shipping with new 3-Series and have been on the M3 for a few years. I printed out some service bulletins for your review." Them: silence I was surprised to see the dealership prices on tires were actually competitive, which was why I went with them since my car required service anyway, but when they wanted $310 for an alignment, I just couldn't do it. Right after I got my tires, I took it to a Ashland Tire and Auto, a well-respected shop on the near north side, for a standard $70 laser alignment. When the car was on the lift, I got a good look at what Perillo did to my wheels-lots of nice little scratches and gouges consistent with a sloppy tech knocking the wheels around when installing tires. I called my service rep right then and there (about 20 minutes out the door) and left a message outlining what I found. A few days later, I got a call back to bring the car in again. They stuck by their claim that the tires were unavailable. Not wanting to deal with them anymore, I told them to put my old tires back on and give me a full refund. This is where it gets good. I had to leave my car there overnight for them to do all of this, so I got a call the next day, and the service rep told me that the shop foreman could not find any wheel damage, and he wanted me to point it out to him when I came in to pick up the car. (fast forward) I point out the obvious damage. The foreman, Darren, looked at me and told me the scratches and gouges were from potholes and that he sees this all the time. The guy lied through his teeth to my face. In all his XX years of working on cars, he had never seen damage like resulting from tire/wheel service. Yeah. This doesn't surprise me at all. The fact is the car went in clean. Actually, when you drop the car off, they do a walk around and note any scratches, dents, etc. on a paper you sign before they accept the car for service. No wheel damage was indicated on this sheet when I signed it, because there was none! Why didn't I see this before I left Perillo's service department? I suppose it was my own dumb fault. I didn't think for a second I needed to check the work of a dealership whose cheapest car with no options runs $36,000 (?). This combined with the fact that your car comes back to you via valet in a tight garage with 5 people behind you all but laying on the horn to get out doesn't exactly make for enough time in a decent place to do an inspection. I do have a call into BMW NA who forwarded my complaint to the proper channels, but we'll see what that gets me. Hindsight is 20/20, as after the fact I read a few online reviews from people in the same boat, only the one that stood out to me involved an M3. Perillo BMW service department has a few truly outstanding service reps, and these people are why I've returned despite otherwise bad car service. The dealership there in downtown Chicago is just too busy. They must see a hundred cars each day, and with city union labor rules, they probably have to blow through work as fast as possible just to turn a profit (overlooking $310 alignments, that is). It's unfortunate they have enough volume that their service department can still provide shoddy service. Not that it will affect their bottom line in the slightest, but I guess all I can do is write this post and vow never to return to Perillo BMW. Everything posted by others here, I have also found to be true. But to be fair, Perillo should score high marks for consistency. For example, the service will always be ridiculously overpriced, even for BMW. And you can always count on it being next to impossible to get someone to answer the phone or return a call, unless they are calling to tell you how much money you are going to owe them. read more
