HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Stormy is a stand up guy, looking out for you, not your wallet. I had rodent issues with my truck for a couple of years. They kept getting into my cabin air filter, which would clog the air vents and eventually lead to one of them chewing on the knock sensor wires inside the engine. While visiting my parents in the area, I tried taking my truck to Toyota of Escondido, where they proceeded to quote me $7,500 to fix the knock sensor and a number of other "issues." $3,500 of which was just the sensor and $300 to replace the air filter. Which is absurd. My truck is worth around $8,000. Frustrated I went looking for a reasonable mechanic, and that's what I found with Stormy. Stormy did all the same work Toyota said needed to be done at a fraction of the cost, but wouldn't fix my knock sensor initially. He said he wouldn't take my money to fix it, just to have me turn back around and have him fix it again within the year. He gave me recommendations on how to rid my truck of the rodents, and once I did, to come back. You have no idea now much I appreciated that level of honesty and willingness to make sure we'd actually fix the problem, not just take my money because I was there. Other places (including Toyota of Escondido), would have gladly taken my money, not mentioned the fact that it could happen again, and taken my money again when the problem returned. Anyway, I tried his recommendations. The Mighty Mint spray (available on Amazon) did the job. After several months of being rodent free, I gave him a call and booked an appointment. And here's were Stormy once again proved his merit and won me over as a customer. After taking a deeper look into the issue, he realized my truck has a very specific design flaw. Something that would take him personally a longer time to fix than a friend of his. He gave me a call, broke it down to me, told me about his friends shop (Aloha Automotive), offered to drive my truck there (which he did) and made sure I got a good deal with them too. The whole endeavor took way longer than I wish it would have, but honestly, I'm glad we took our time to fix it. Because of Stormy my truck is back in perfect shape and at a beyond reasonable price. My truck doesn't often have issues, but any time I have them in the future, I will 100% bring my truck to him first. read more

Stormy is honest, knowledgeable, fast, keeps you informed, all the good things you want in a mechanic. I've used him before and I trust him completely. My 2003 4Runner with 203,000 miles on it runs great. Thank you, Stormy. I'll never use another mechanic. read more

This is probably the best and fairest automotive repair shop I have ever dealt with. Stormy is pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. He also doesn't try to upsell you specific to parts and repairs you don't need. Nowadays that's unheard of. You'll not go wrong choosing Performance Edge Automotive for your auto repairs. read more

I've taken my car to several different shops and spent a lot of time and money trying to get my issues resolved. Unfortunately, none of them were able to fix the problem, and it often felt like they were just out to take my money, charging way too much without delivering real results. Stormy and his team were incredibly thorough in diagnosing the issue. He found a problem that other mechanics completely missed, including something as basic as a missing seal. He also told me that my struts still had some life left, even though another mechanic insisted they needed to be replaced right away. The team gave me a very reasonable price, and I genuinely feel like they care about doing the job right. It's been weeks since the repair, and my car is running smooth as butter. I don't trust any other mechanics now. These guys are the real deal. Highly recommend. They even sent a thank-you card, which I've never experienced from any other shop. read more

I was searching around for a affordable, decent mechanic and found this place. The main guys name is Stormy and he is respectful, and doesn't try to up sell you. They replaced a front axle and 2 end links for a very good price. I'll definitely be back if I need any service. read more

I'm still taking my cars to Stormy at Performance Edge. I think I have brought 3 or 4 cars there now. Everything is still great! The time it takes to get my car worked on is usually within the same day. Pick up is often the same day or next. The work is solid and trustworthy... and so is the price. I do not underestimate the peace of mind I have knowing my mechanic is dependable and fair. read more

The shop is honest, trustworthy, and they do excellent work. We won't take our trucks anywhere else!

Stormy goes out of his way for you. Great guy. Great service. Great prices. Will never go anywhere else.

Will definitely continue to go here to get my car serviced. I had been to several other mechanics across SD who were advising that I needed a ton of different things done, and were not feeling as if they were being honest. Stormy quickly got me in and looked at my car, was super honest and upfront with me. It's hard to find a mechanic that's trustworthy, so would definitely give this place 5 stars! read more

Great service, very honest and Stormy mad me feel like my car was in good hands. Highly recommend his service.

Performance Edge Automotive is the best shop in town. Super friendly staff and exceptional customer service. Fairly new to the area, I was intimidated to find a shop that I could get big job done on my engine at a reasonable price. When I took my truck to Performance Edge, I was completely satisfied by the work completed and the customer service provided. Stormy, Kelly, and the Crew at Performance Edge have it dialed in and I highly recommend anyone who needs work done to look no further. read more

We tried this place out on a recommendation by a friend and come here exclusively now. Stormy is friendly, fast and trustworthy (more than you can say for your average sleazy mechanic). As a girl who knows very little about cars, I'm almost positive I've been swindled here and there over the years; Stormy tells you what absolutely needs to be done and what can wait. Friendly, affordable and fast. Your search for a mechanic stops here. read more

Recommended by friends and my experience was one of excellent service.i was concerned I would have a big bill for a full set of brakes and alignment and replace a door handle . I was pleasantly surprised at the fairness of all the work when I got the bill for It, it was less than what had recently Paid for just the front brakes. read more

Very Reliable and at a good price! Great guys over there and they have you fixed up quickly!

Excellent service! I work in the same business park and asked if they would have time to do it while I was at work. I just needed an oil change. I told the owner about a nail I had in my tire that both the dealership and discount tire told me had to be replaced entirely, and couldn't be patched. Stormy and his crew just patched it up. No need to buy new tires! And of course I got my oil changed as well. read more

I brought my Toyota pickup that failed smog to Stormy after going to 2 other shops that couldn't figure it out and he got it done in no time. The pricing was fair and he took the time to make sure I fully understood what the issues were that caused it to fail, not to mention he even handed the keys back with the smog certificate. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone that is looking for a quality mechanic. read more

Stormy is great. I called up at 8:00 AM and he was able to get me right in. I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser and the passenger side window just died while it was down. If you have never been there before it will require a little hunting to find it since it is in an industrial park and not visible from the street. read more

Disappointed in Stormy's billing practice. Over the phone, he quoted me $150 to drain and flush my gas tank. I was fine with that price because he was located nearby. I had contacted the Escondido Toyota dealer who quoted me $130 for the same service, but my car was in Vista and I saved money towing it nearby. I was surprised and disappointed when Stormy ultimately charged me $186, a 24 percent increase over the quote. I considered bringing my other car to him before I saw his bill, the tech was friendly and helpful. I can not patronize this establishment again. I don't like surprises when It comes time to pay for work on my car, I prefer to have an accurate quote at the outset when I decide where to take my car. read more

My family has been taking our vehicles to Stormy for years and he has always done an excellent job. Any time I have an issue with my car he gets me in quickly and the quality of work is unbeatable. Most recently I had an issue with my power steering pressure hose on my Infiniti and he shopped around to find me the best price on a replacement. He is incredibly reliable and friendly, I highly recommend taking your vehicle to Performance Edge for any maintenance needs. read more

I've never felt cheated or swindled when going here. I can rest easy bringing my car here, knowing that it will be treated with care and respect. Once again, Stormy was able to resolve my problem on my Prius. I left it with him one morning after the engine light came on. He figured out that it was an item that Toyota could repair AND it was under warranty. After taking it to Toyota, they fixed it for free! Surprised me because my car has just over 100K miles. Stormy did his research and saved me lots of time and money! I won't go anywhere else! read more

My son has taken his Toyota truck in twice. Great customer service. Fair price. Honest.

I had the best experience with owners Stormy and Kelly. My car made a horrible noise as I excited the freeway one night and became undrivable. AAA towed my car to Performance Edge Auto after hours and within an hour of opening his shop the next morning Stormy called me with the repair information and an honest quote. My car was up and running that afternoon! I've had several mechanics over the years and always thought they were "honest". Turns out Stormy is by far the most honest and reliable mechanic there is! They really took care of me and my stressful situation. Thank you guys! read more

If you need any maintenance or repairs on your vehicle this is the place! They do an excellent job and the price is reasonable. We took our 2014 Nissan Rouge there for an issue with the AC & Heater and Stormy researched, diagnosed, and fixed the problem. Now it's working perfectly!! read more

I went to this shop for years but will not return due to Stormy's recommendation of used parts. After putting one tranny in my 2001 Honda for $1600 ( straight from the junk yard), it needed to be replaced twice. Stormy promised me a discount on a replacement. Well $1600 later I had my third tranny. He also gave a great deal on some used struts that I needed to replace within 6 months. Needless to say the struts were replaced at another shop with new parts. After wasting literally $4000 I will never return. Where ever you go insist in high quality new parts. read more
