I went here for the first time after doing some research. They seemed to have good reviews and I wanted them to take a look at my car and check the brakes since it's been a while. Everyone i spoke to there was very nice and thoroughly listened to me, while also providing me information on what needed to be done. They quoted me a price and that was what I paid, they didn't try to get me to do anything more. On my first visit they also noticed a nail in my tire and put some air in it as it was extremely low and i didn't realize. Thankfully a discount tire is just down the street. If you need to drop your car off they also have a great shopping plaza nearby to kill some time while you wait. If you are looking for a new shop, id recommend giving them a try. When I got there, they took my car right away and figured out the problem within about 10 minutes. It ended up being a simple fix and they didn't charge me! The next day they even called to follow up and make sure everything was still working great. Seriously so kind of them to follow up!! Because of that experience, I went back when I needed new brake pads. I called ahead to schedule a drop-off and the whole process was super easy. Their pricing was super fair, they kept me updated throughout everything, and I also had an oil change and tire rotation done while I was there. When I picked up my car there was also a box of Girl Scout cookies left inside. Dropped off my wife's car the night before and slipped the key through the door mail slot. Received a call in the morning and said it was the rear brakes and suggested the oil change as well. Straight to business and no nonsense. I LIKE it! Was affordable and they did a great job breaking(pun not intended) down what was going on. Was shocked they had the car done so quickly. Price was great and the oil change was about $30 cheaper than one of the quick stop spots like Valvoline/Jiffy Lube. I was raving about them to my co-worker and she said Allen's Wrench is the best. They will suggest getting the part cheaper at an Auto Zone if it's available and will even talk to dads who want to make sure their daughter isn't getting ripped off. They are the best auto shop that I trust. I lived in San Marcos for two years, and Allen's shop was my go-to place. Then I moved away, now I just moved back to SD, and my car recently made a flapping sound twice on the highway. I was very concerned and brought my car in today. The crew was super nice and helpful, just like I remembered. They checked it out and found that lots screws under the car were missing, causing the cover to hang loosely and hit the bottom of the car, which made the noise I heard. They added screws back to my car, and didn't charge me anything, I really appreciate their service, honest, their kindness is a treasure! I used to service my 2005 Toyota Camry XLE, so I knew the place, now I'm back with 2017 Toyota Rav 4. It could be a long wait for an appointment, even for oil change (it's how busy they are), but even when an oil change is requested, it's also brakes checked, fluid levels are checked, all tire pressure are adjusted. The staff is freindly and all oil change takes less the an hour. So it's not only Honda and Mazda as advertized - it's Toyota also, not sure about other brands. read more

I had never been to Allen's Wrench before but my roommate suggested I try to go for my car troubles. I recently had my under carriage come off (luckily I had it still) so I went today to see if anyone could tack it back on. Thankfully they could! I was a walk-in so I was anticipating to wait about an hour or even longer, but I was out of there within 20 minutes!! They are super fast, and very helpful. They didn't charge me either, which is extremely kind. The card says Honda, Acura and Mazda, but I had a Nissan and they were ready regardless! Transparent and thorough. Brought our Mazda in for a number of fluid exchanges. AW did an overall check making a recommendation on brakes. Because of a "lifetime" package went to another provider for the work, but they claimed further and additional work was "necessary". It felt like the provider was being slimy and unethical. While I don't take my car there for regular oil changes (yes, I'll admit- Jiffy Lube is closer and I don't always have a flexible schedule for an appointment), when it comes to big stuff, I don't trust my car to anyone but Allen's Wrench. Originally I made an appointment for my car to get checked out before a road trip...but that morning, my car started making a weird noise. The car felt fine..but I knew there was something going on. Took my wife's van in for a brake job. They had the car up for about 45mins then told me that the pads actually look pretty decent, the rotors are good and fluid level looked good too. There was a $60 invoice but they said don't worry about it no charge, just bring it back when it's ready for brakes. They could have charged for the inspection, they could have just done the work even though it wasn't strictly necessary, but instead they were honest and told me to save my $ cuz it could wait til later. If they happen to see this feel free to contact me if you'd like to make things right. No idea why, but they went from being great at customer service for years to treating my wife and I like we're inconveniencing them with our business. I finally had to take my car to a a brand new shop that cares about their customers to get answers as to why my car kept overheating. Had Allen's Wrench taken my concerns seriously when I first brought them up, a lot of permanent damage to my trusty old Honda Civic might have been avoided. Now, it's unrepairable and I have to buy a new car. We were customers for the better part of a decade with this car and our Honda Pilot, recommending them to family and friends left and right, but now we'll be taking our vehicles to a couple of shops we've found that have integrity and value their customers. read more
