Have had several great experiences here over 10+ years. Always friendly service, and you can tell that they actually care. Several stereos installed, and some remote starters. A couple months ago we had an amp and sub installed, along with door speakers and sound damping. It all works and sounds great. Extremely impressed with the difference the damping made! Why havent we done this before? WOW! Less road noise, and the speakers sound amazing! They have told us about this product with each of our cars, but we never wanted to spend the extra money. Not happy with my experience there. Rupert their salesman needs a lesson in customer service. Rude and not professional at all. Install was ok but did not hook up my existing backup camera. Said the wire was shorted and wouldn't work. It worked when I brought it in but didn't after the install. Would not stand behind the install at all. It's been a few years since I've been down there. But people should know about the worst uninstall I've ever seen. There has been crackheads that stole my stereo and left the car better than Mike and the boys at performance auto sound. Amazon is cheaper, YouTube will show you how to install you don't have to be a professional to do a better job than they do at Performance Auto Sound in Kennewick. Had my back up camera stop working again and called to have them fix it. Dropped it off and later that afternoon they called me and said it was ready to be picked up. I asked them what they found? Thinking the camera had failed (2nd time). That wasn't the case somehow I got a stick stuck underneath and it finally wore through the cable. Replaced sound systems in my last two cars. Both worked perfectly. This last install, I purchased the system the week prior to install and when I came in, they were running a store wide sale. I didn't even ask for it, but before starting, they checked if there was a price difference from my purchase to my install date, to possibly refund or credit me, which they found, and made right. Installation took less than an hour which I'm very happy with When they came across an option mid install that would have cost extra. He stopped and asked me before going through with it. After both installs, since they were several years apart, he walked out with me and showed me how to connect my phone, and also change all the settings on the new system. I don't know anything about cars or stereo systems, and I appreciate these guys for being so thorough and transparent with all their customers. I went into the Kennewick store to get an estimate for the complete replacement of my 1999 Mercedes SLK 230 audio system (speakers, amp, and head unit). Rupert gave me excellent recommendations for the replacement equipment as well as for adding damping material to improve the acoustics for the door speakers. After selecting the components, I was offered to have the work start that same day. The installation was completed and the results were amazing. Not only was the new system installation done extremely well, but two rear woofers that had never been connected were identified and connected to the new amp. I was able to get my rzr into the audio shop the same day. To me it was an emergency because I didn't have sound and I wanted to ride it over the weekend ha-ha. Went in the other day to get some help on some Walmart cables I bought (Scosche brand). I was worried because there were two different power ratings on the same brand of cables (one was an amp kit, the other was an extension amp kit). I feel bad for not remembering the guy's name that helped us, all I remember is he was a bit older than me, wore glasses and said he was from Moses Lake or something. He was awesome in helping me make some informed decisions with an audio installation I was doing in my car. I took back the Scosche cables and bought the Mesa cables that were available through Performance Auto Sound and even got a Pioneer mono amp for the subwoofer I was installing. The associate that helped me walked me through a lot of information that I was a bit shaky on. I know how to setup speakers and can do OK wiring jobs and am familiar with how power works and the numbers to care about, but I'm no professional and after leaving PAS I feel like I could open my own shop now! Ok maybe not, but the point is that PAS was awesome with me. They even showed me their wall of bass to drive a point home in regards to power, reliability, and what can be achieved when you don't try and stay with bottom-dollar equipment. I finished my installation and am very confident that I'll never need to change out the cables or worry that my amp isn't what I need it to be because PAS helped me make sure I wasn't selling myself short by using bad equipment. If I ever have pressing questions or need audio gear, I'll definitely be checking out PAS in Kennewick going forward. They have wire by the spool that you can pay for as well, which I may eventually need. I had a car alarm installed by Performance and at the time the installation seemed fine. The products are extremely expensive, but I was short on time. I needed a system removed and a new one installed. After picking up my vehicle, that's when the disappointment began. I was sold on a product that had extremely long range of fob to vehicle. However later I learned the system is not tied into the horn, nor does it have its own speaker. The only lock indication is a flash of the running lights. Although the system supposedly has extremely long range, it's impossible to use at any distance unless it's midnight and in your line of site. There is no audible of the lock for car finding or any safe locking indication. I asked performance if they could hook it to the horn and they explained that it is possible but it will cost more money. I guess I mistakenly assumed money spent north of $800 would at least buy me a beep from my vehicle, apparently no. Furthermore, I imagine during the original installation it likely would have been nickels worth of an effort. Clearly, their business plan isn't customer service or return business. Although they were more than willing to do it AFTER the install of course for a significant fee. Buyer beware from Performance Auto Sound. read more

I'm a snob when it comes to stereo stuff, so when I really want it done up in a big way, I just do it myself. Performance does everything else for me. I'm constantly impressed with the customer service. The staff are very friendly and will take some time to ask good questions about what you need and want. I was going to buy a new head unit for my truck, but the salesman actually talked me out of it because he said the new model features would be closer to what I wanted and cheaper! How often does that happen with stereo stuff? The quality of their work is very good on the standard to mid-range stuff. They are very reliable on their time estimates and costs. During the install of my basic (head unit + 4 speakers in factory locations) they worked on my beaters (a 1990 Town Car) doors to make sure they were tight - even replacing some screws and gluing some old trim! I was happy when other shops didn't make the doors worse - but this was over the top! They even finished half an hour early and walked me through how the head unit worked and setting up the bluetooth. Few new cars get this kind of attention, let alone a hooptie. Equipment selection is pretty good, although they won't have the super-high end stuff in stock. Prices are competitive - typically a little lower than Best Buy or Crutchfield. Installation costs are reasonable ($45 for speakers). Overall they are hard to beat for quality work and value. The only bummer is that they aren't open Sundays. read more

They installed my new car stereo today and when I discovered there was a problem with the Bluetooth mic they dropped everything to figure it out, even though it was closing time! Excellent service. Scheduled an appointment for a stereo installation and got there about 10 min early. There wasn't really anywhere to park so the best solution is to park in the lot in front of the jiffy lube. Went in and they took the car. There isn't really a place to chill so I just chilled at the Arby's near it. They said it would take about an hour and they didn't lie. Got back an hour after dropping the car off and they were done. Not only did he tell me on the phone he was willing to wait for my arrival on his own time and to be late to a birthday party but he took the time and care and came out to my truck after the subwoofer was installed helped me with a quick wiring issue and also dialed in my amp. In my professional opinion as a manager Mike was all about this business and the customer this was what they call ABOVE AND BEYOND I highly recommend coming here and please if you can ask for mike. I went in with my 2004 infinity G35, coupe. Off the bat they told me what they can't or won't do, then only guessed on what they might be able to do. The shop was busy, the service workers was nice people. Unfortunately, they said to wire my car and do it right, they would have to charge me 6500! Lol, that's what I bought the 13 year old G35 for. Yes, I understand labor costs but dang they really didn't show me they was willing to work with me. A firm 6500 to wire my amp, head unit, it costed 799. The amp cost 499. It retails at 299. Not your average car audio shop. I've been to ghetto ones, large city shops, and this store (and chain) are the best for quality products, knowledgeable staff and super experienced installers. They go to the consumer electronics shows, talk directly to the equipment manufacturers, personally even with the engineers who hands on design these products. I want the best for my car. Mike patiently and fully explained to me what I'd need based off of my budget and needs. I went to performance, they tried to update but would not take an update. They removed my radio, put my stock radio back in, and sent my radio to the factory. I originally went to a few shops around the tri city's to get quotes and everybody else used pre fab boxes, and I left those other shops looking for more. I ended at performance auto sound and they went above and beyond, they made a box specially for the woofers, but more importantly they blew me away with there knowledge. We had originally planned on using Rockford fosgate slim woofers because i was limited on mounting depth, but once they dug into my truck and took hard measurements they suggested I go with pioneer TS-D series woofers. It was a tight fit but they made it happen, coming in under the original estimate and getting me a better product for my application 10 out of 10 read more

MUST READ BEFORE BOOKING ANY APPOINTMENT!!!!!!! I have to say that I never write reviews. I've worked in Retail for many years and as a banker and I get the customer is always an a-hole! LOL :-) So it pains me to have to write a review that shines a company in a negative light. That being said I wanted to write about my experience with Performance Auto Sound. I had purchased my girlfriend a deck for her car. She took the initiative to book the appointment same day and was charged roughly 138.00. Her appointment was set for 3:00pm. So I called Performance at 11:48am(same day) to ask why it was so expensive because months prior I was quoted a rate of around 50 dollars give or take. Their employee kindly let me know that because I was prepared and had all of the parts ready for them for the install they charged $44.00 for that fee. Which seems weird to me because why would you punish your clients for being prepared? Wouldn't that make their job easier? But what do I know about installing audio decks in cars so maybe my opinion isn't creditable here. :-) So gathering all this information I did what ANYBODY would do when they find out they could possibly get a cheaper deal somewhere else. I told their employee that I will keep the appointment but I'm going to quickly call around and see if I can get a better deal somewhere else. Their employee told me that I needed to let him know if I wanted to keep that appointment and I said I will keep it for now, but I'm going to shop around real quick. Then he informed me that they have a 88.00 cancelation policy. And typically they have a 48 hr cancel policy or the fee is accessed. My frustration here was since the appointment was booked same day I couldn't get clarification on if I canceled the appointment or found a cheaper deal somewhere else I would be accessed the 88.00 fee. KEEP IN MIND THIS POLICY WAS NOT DISCLOUSED TO MY GIRLFRIEND UPON BOOKING THIS APPOINTMENT. In frustration I kept the appointment and called another local company (Audio King) and they said they do not charge if I have my own parts and said they can do a base installation for 50.00 but it could go up a little bit because they do have to look at the vehicle. But it wouldn't be $138.00. At this point I called Performance back and spoke to a gentleman because I wanted further clarification on this "cancelation policy". Which he let me know but it still seemed cryptic on how same day cancelations apply. In the end I kept the appointment for obvious reasons. In summation its super frustrating to do business with a company who didn't OFFER any solutions to my problem. I felt strong armed into keeping my appointment with the fear of being charged 88.00 for a cancelation Look I understand that they are a business and appointments are super important and are vital to keep. But they could've offered to cancel the appointment right away. Its not like that appointment had been on the books for days in advance. That appointment was made under an hour before I called them. Not once did they say "Hey go ahead and shop around and let us know what you find out, we would love to match or see if we could compete for your business". But we will cancel your appointment. ZERO SOLUTUIONS WERE OFFERED. I deeply feel they did nothing to help or understand the unique situation I was in.And if there was anything they could do to help. Instead I feel they just informed me of policy and didn't care to help with my needs. I also understand after working with the public for years that things don't have to follow "Policy" that you can deviate from that to find a common solution for the client. Was recommended from a friend, had a full system installed. when I got my car back I had a hole punched into the trunk panel and they came out and said that was already there. I've had my car for a month under 1000 miles on it. the panels that were replaced are loose and are not in original condition. some panels are not flush and need to be redone. the windows will not row down and now I need to take it back to the dealer to fix these problems. be very careful going here. read more
