First and last time here. I dropped off a regular white cotton dress shirt on Friday with a pick up date of Tuesday at 5:00pm. I walked in on Tuesday at 5:00pm and it wasn't done so I returned the following day around noon, only to find out that it was still not ready. When it was finally ready, I picked it up, paid $8 for cleaning (a little expensive for just a shirt) and went home. There were stains on the shirt. The shirt went in without stains and came out with them. I will never use this place again, there are so many other dry cleaners to go to and I would rather drive half an hour than go to this one right near my house. 1 star, do not recommend to anyone. I brought my coat here for a zipper replacement and dry cleaning and was told it would take 7-10 days and cost $64. Instead, it took nearly a month, and when I picked it up, the price had increased to $84 without prior notice due to a "special zipper" that didn't seem special (photos attached). On top of that, the vinyl badges on my coat were damaged during cleaning. When I raised concerns about the unexpected price increase and the damage, the owner dismissed my concerns, the situation became tense, and I felt pressured to pay the higher amount to get my coat back. I was disappointed by the lack of clear communication, the increased price, the extended wait time, and the condition of my coat upon return. Dropped off 5 sweaters and a pair of pants. The clothes were done on time - that's where the positive experience ends. One sweater has shrunken to the point it is not wearable. Purchased it last month so have only had the chance to wear once. Two of the sweaters came back covered in tiny holes. read more

It took me a week to post this because I firmly believe in not acting in haste. I always take time to think and reflect before reacting--and that's exactly what I did before writing this review. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Perfectly Pressed in Chester was absolutely awful. I dropped off several items to be cleaned. When I picked them up, all but one item still had visible stains--and some looked even worse than when I brought them in. When I brought this to the owner's attention, he told me he could try cleaning them again, but couldn't guarantee they wouldn't get ruined. I was shocked. I said I shouldn't have to pay for a service that clearly wasn't completed properly. His response? He told me the items were "old and dirty," which was both insulting and untrue. These items were not old--I simply wanted them cleaned for back-to-school. When I mentioned I planned to leave a review to let others know about my experience, he responded by threatening to call me a "lunatic" and said no one would care because he's "been in business for years." He told me customer reviews don't matter. Clearly, he doesn't realize how important good customer service is--or how telling it is when many reviews repeat the same issues. Things got worse. He told me I couldn't pick up my items unless he was present. I explained that I needed them for my daughter. His response: "I'll chuck them somewhere." What does that even mean? It was unprofessional, aggressive, and frankly bizarre. The most upsetting part was how he handled the conversation--constantly yelling over me, refusing to listen, and treating me with complete disrespect. I've never been spoken to like that by a business owner. It's a real shame because years ago they did a great job on my daughter's communion gown. But things have clearly changed--and not for the better. If you read the recent reviews, you'll see I'm not alone in my experience. BEWARE! This dry cleaners ruined my $375 designer dress. The dress has ruching throughout. When I picked it up, the ruching was gone in the front, altering the hem of the dress so it is not wearable. Dropped a coat off for zipper repair. At pickup the price was 200% greater than what was listed on the drop off ticket. I noted the price was significantly greater than expected. The owner noted the price on the drop off ticket was just for dry cleaning and they ended up having to replace the entire zipper. I let him know I was fine to pay it but no one explained the already clean jacket was going to be unnecessarily dry cleaned (a service I didn't ask for) and that the price on the drop off ticket only represented the dry cleaning, not the zipper repair I asked for. He said that's their policy - no tags, it gets dry cleaned. Instead of simply acknowledging that no one indicated this and moving on, he became defensive. He pointed at the ticket saying it says dry cleaning and said I should have read it. I said that's fine, but for all I know the system doesn't have a zipper repair option and it will simply say dry cleaning because you are a dry cleaner. I said, I also only asked for zipper repair and the woman who gave me the ticket never mentioned their policy so I didn't feel the need to closely review the ticket - I felt like the requested services were clearly communicated and understood. He wouldn't acknowledge any of it and acted as though he was infallible. People make mistakes. I clearly did by not closely reviewing the ticket and asking questions when dropping off a coat I only asked for zipper repair on. But communication is a two-way process and the owner doesn't understand that. He was unwilling to recognize they might have made a mistake in communicating their policy. Considering the owner's inability to comprehend a policy may not have been communicated and that the "repaired" zipper has loose threads up and down the stitching, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

Brought in a pair of brand new, non-lined regular pants to be hemmed and several days later looked at the ticket to see two charges. They charged $22.50 to hem them plus a $7.05 charge. When I called to ask what the $7.05 was for she said they were dry cleaned. I told her I did not ask for dry cleaning, just for my new pants to be hemmed. The woman said it is the owner's policy to dry clean an item brought in without the price tag on it. That is the most ridiculous money grabbing "policy" I've ever heard! I will be taking my business elsewhere since they are overcharging customers for a service not needed nor asked for. Shame on you! You lost a customer. Hopefully others will read this and realize they are being charged not just for the requested repair, but for dry cleaning that they didn't agree to and were not notified about ahead of time. read more

HORRIBLE place. NEW management will rip you off! Horrible service from Maxine and her husband. Stay away!! Charging me $170 (that's with a discount!) To dry clean a $129 dress (and I paid $109 when it was on sale) all because Maxine said I wore it for my wedding. NOT HER BUSINESS TO KNOW WHAT I WORE IT FOR. It's a bridesmaids dress. I could have worn it to bed for all that's their business. Last time I checked, dry cleaning a regular dress is around $15-$30. We didn't asked for it to be treated any differently and seeing as though it's nothing close to a wedding gown, they know better. We know now to be cautious with white dresses. Came here for the first time to get a dress altered for a wedding because the reviews were so great. Before going in, I messaged them through yelp and I appreciate the quick response and information provided. So I went in to get it altered since they said they were able to get it done by the time I needed it to get done. I was greeted by the business owner, I believe, and was later helped by his wife. I didn't want to much taken off but dhe was able to reassure me of the amount she wanted to trim from the hem. I've had bad experiences with hemming dresses prior to coming here so it was nice to have her explain why she suggested it. She told me she will ship it out to a seamstress and once the seamstress takes a look at it they will quote me a price through text. I never received a text and my dress was due in the next 2 days so i had no idea how much it was going to be for the service which I think is a horrible approach to business. It ended up being 80 dollars to hem it. The dress itself was 100 dollars so it wasn't worth it for me, I would have rather returned the dress at that point. If I had known prior to them doing the service I would not have gone through with it. I explained it to the gentleman when I picked it up and he said that's not usually how the conduct business so I appreciate that but wouldn't know if that's the truth since I was blindsided. Overall, I'm sure for dry cleaning they are probably good since it looked busy and the workers seemed nice, but after my experience I will probably not be returning. read more

Not only is this a great cleaning service, but they also have an amazing tailor. I give her "projects" and she has delighted me each time.... for example I asked her to trim a denim jacket with mink fur left over from a vintage fur coat from my mother - she did an amazing job and I have a one of a kind jacket that reminds me of my mom whenever I wear it! As a nearby Hackettstown resident, this was the first time that I used Perfectly Pressed Dry Cleaner and Tailor in Chester. In a search to find a reputable tailor close to the area, I chose this place simply based on reviews. Maxine and her staff went above and beyond my expectations. We had constant communication from the time that I dropped my bridesmaid dress off to the time that I picked up the altered dress (just under 2 weeks). Since I ordered the dress a few sizes bigger, I was concerned about how the alterations were going to look. Very kind & courteous service, they explained how they could remove a specific stain, and were able to have the service done early the same day without overcharging. This place is terrific! I had my suit jacket altered and pants hemmed for under $150, which I think is a great price. The service was great and I only had to wait for one week for my suit to be altered. The tailor that fixed my suit jacket was very skilled and knew what he was doing. Incredibly accommodating! I brought 2 pairs of pants and a dress that all needed alterations within a week and they got the job done in one day.
