I live on the corner of 3rd and Broadway, and one day I happened to notice a small repair shop across the street called Sky Fix. Not just phones either; computers, software issues, hardware issues, all of it. It made me realize how many hours of frustration I waste trying to Google solutions, watch YouTube tutorials, or use AI to generate step-by-step fixes that somehow never actually work. In my case, my charging ports constantly get clogged with dust and dirt, and instead of simply fixing the problem I end up spending hours stressed out, fighting with cords and restarting devices. At some point you start asking yourself: how much is your time worth? One of the things I love about Sky Fix is how accessible it is. I live right across the street, but even if I didn't, there are multiple parking structures surrounding it and none of them cost more than about ten dollars max. You can park and be at the front door within seconds. It's also directly off the Broadway & 2nd Metro stop, which honestly makes it one of the most accessible tech repair stores in the city. But the real reason I'm writing this review is Eric, the owner and manager. I work in tech myself, so I know what real intelligence in that world looks like, and Eric is one of the most adept minds I've been around in a long time. But what impresses me even more is something most people probably never notice. I see how he treats the homeless people who walk in with broken phones. I see how patient he is with people who are confused, stressed, or just trying to get a dead device working so they can contact somebody safe. I've watched him help people without charging them. I've watched him treat everyone in the neighborhood with dignity regardless of what they look like or whether they can pay. That kind of humanity is rare. Everybody around here knows Eric, and after getting to know the place a little better, I'm honestly proud to support a business like this in our neighborhood. Downtown can feel chaotic sometimes, but places like Sky Fix remind me why I still love living here. I made it clear multiple times that I wanted to protect my personal data and did not consent to discussing or providing sensitive information where others could hear it. I should not have had to repeatedly explain that I wanted my privacy respected. The entire interaction was embarrassing and unprofessional. If you work in the phone repair business, customers should be able to expect a proper diagnosis, clear communication, respect for their privacy, and basic courtesy. I am asking management to review the security camera footage from around 1:15 p.m. so they can see how this interaction was handled and evaluate the conduct of their employees for themselves. I hope management takes this complaint seriously and addresses both the customer-service and privacy concerns raised by this experience.

1 STAR -- Extremely misleading pricing and a complete waste of my time…read more I contacted this store about replacing the screen on my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. I specifically confirmed my phone model, and I was told in writing that the screen replacement started at $208.80 + tax. Based on that information, I decided to make an appointment with them. After making the appointment and showing up, I was suddenly told that the price I had been given was wrong and that the repair would actually cost around $330. How does a customer receive a specific price, schedule an appointment based on that price, and then arrive at the store only to be told that the price was incorrect? If the $208.80 price was wrong, it should have been corrected before I made an appointment and wasted my time. What makes this even more frustrating is that they advertise themselves as an authorized repair provider and emphasize their professionalism and quality of service. I expected the basic courtesy of being given accurate pricing before committing to an appointment. I have no problem paying a fair price for quality work, but I do have a problem with being quoted one price and then being told something completely different after I've already made the trip and scheduled an appointment. I strongly recommend confirming the price in person before making an appointment, because the price you are given initially may apparently not be the price you're actually charged. Very disappointing experience and a complete waste of my time.
