I hired Matt to install a set of French doors, and overall I'm very happy with the finished result.
Installing French doors is not a simple job. Getting two doors to align perfectly, latch properly, and look right takes patience and attention to detail. Throughout the project, it was obvious that he cared more about getting it right than simply getting it done. He never seemed willing to cut corners just to finish and move on to the next job.
If something didn't meet his standards, he fixed it. Whether it meant changing hardware, making adjustments, or reworking something that just didn't look right, he stayed with it until both of us were happy with the result. I could tell the work was frustrating at times--French doors can certainly test anyone's patience--but he stuck with it and kept working through the challenges instead of settling for "close enough."
I also appreciated that, despite the additional time involved, he only increased the original quote by $250. There were no surprise charges or attempts to dramatically increase the cost after the work was underway, and I felt the final price was fair.
The project took longer than I had originally anticipated, but looking back, I believe much of that was because he was focused on quality rather than speed. The finished doors look excellent, and I'm glad he took the time to make sure they were installed correctly.
From the beginning, I had a very specific vision for how I wanted these doors to look. I explained that vision to Matt, and although we made a few adjustments along the way, he stayed committed to bringing it to life. On the final day, I told him, "This is exactly what I pictured in my head." That's about the highest compliment I could give. He didn't just install a set of doors--he helped create the look I was hoping to achieve.
