Mike was efficient, professional, and incredibly knowledgable about where and how to place our shade sail. We are a return customer -- we had Perfect Shade Sails put in a sail for us in 2013, and we added a second shade sail just this month. They match (which we love), and the effect of both of them really adds to the look in our backyard. AND they provide amazing shade from the sun -- our small backyard is now a great place to hang out in. The price is right -- and you get expert advice along the way. read more

Extremely rude on the phone. I called to inquire about shade installation and when he didn't like my question, he was very dismissive. When I said "you don't have to be rude about it" his response was "sorry I'm eating a meal". In my opinion, very unacceptable customer service and more than that, a very unacceptable way to interact with another person. read more

Perfect Shade Sails were great to work with. They helped us decide what was best for our backyard; and they delivered on the timeline and the original quote. read more

Project is completed, and it's absolutely beautiful! I wanted a massive sun sail covering the patio of our our brand new house and got exactly what we had envisioned. Regarding color and transparency level, Mike was amazing at recommending what he thinks is best given what we told him about our privacy and sun-shade needs. Upon final delivery of the project I couldn't ask for a single thing to have been changed. He also went above and beyond, our contractor had installed a flimsy little pole that just wouldn't have worked. He told us as much, had someone take it down, installed the new pole. Really happy with the finished product. read more

I needed a repair. One corner of the shade sail was coming out of the wall due to the wood in that corner of my house. Mike is very knowledgeable about the shades and the parts involved with installing them into the wall. He and his son came out right on time and did a great job fixing the issue I had. If you are thinking about getting shade sails, I recommend going to them. read more

I want to thank Mike and his family business for installing a truly beautiful sail shade. Mike made the process very easy. He is straight forward and professional. He worked with what I wanted to make his recommendation. His team took great care with our property and did amazing work. I could not be happier with the results. I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking for a more comfortable back yard. As a side note, I always come away from bigger construction projects on our house wishing I could have done one or more things differently. Not this time. This sail shade is perfect. It is a work of art. read more

Kendal B Mike was extremely knowledgeable and patient with my questions . He explained things in a very easy way to understand; since I did not know anything about purchasing a shade sail. I came away from the conversation more confident in understanding what is involved in planning and designing a sail size for our school. He was very helpful in getting me started. read more

We love our new shade sails. One of the reasons we decided to go with Mike was because of his transparency and open communication -- they delivered on everything they talked about and helped walk us through everything from concept to completion. I appreciated his advice and willingness to adjust with our desires. We are considering adding more shade sails in the future and Mike will be the first guy I call! read more

Mike and his son have a wealth of knowledge about the product and the process. It is much more than installing some poles and a shade. Their suggestions are based on years of experience. There were no unexpected problems, the entire process was well thought out and planned. I am very pleased with the process and final product. read more

We love our new shade sail! Mike was excellent to work with, very communicative, and precise in measuring our outdoor space. From start to finish, it took about 3 weeks to measure, construct, ship from New Zealand, and install. The craftsmanship of the shade is outstanding and their in-ground post installation and building anchoring is much more stable than anything we could have done ourselves. We got the dark blue color and we are very pleased as it filters just the right amount of sunlight, so it does not feel claustrophobic underneath. We completed the project just in time for a 4th of July backyard BBQ and everyone commented on how beautiful and useful the shade is. I would highly recommend Mike and his team! read more

I started off knowing nothing about shade sails, but after getting estimates from various installers I realized I had become a connoisseur all because of Mike, the owner of Perfect Shade Sails. I recently did an extensive remodel on my home and the last step was to provide shade to my backyard patio. The shade sail that Mike and his team installed was the perfect solution. From the beginning Mike was very clear to explain the measurement, ordering, and installation process. Once the design was finalized, I was very pleased with the timeline and execution of the project. The end result is a sleek quality shade sail that matches the modern exterior look of my home and keeps my patio cool during these hot fall months. I would definitely recommend Mike and Perfect Shade Sails. read more

Mike, his son Adam, and their crew were a delight to work with. They installed a double sail in the yard of the LA home where our daughter lives (the sails are a gift from Mom & Dad). Mike communicated clearly, reliably and as often as necessary. When the sails (custom made in New Zealand) were held up in supply chain purgatory, he doggedly pushed for tracking and even started re-making the sails until the originals eventually showed up. They were installed within days and have really enhanced the space. read more

Artist. Top notch professional. Accurate estimates and reasonable time frame and options in both color and shape. Super fun. And the value of the house just multiplied. Subtle yet edgy, modern yet spanish style. Love it. Before we rarely spent time in the hot back yard. Now we can't stay away from the little oasis transformed so easily by just one shade sail made with love. read more

I have an upper deck in my condo that gets incredibly strong sun and heats up quickly. Mike and his son made it incredibly easy for me. In a couple of days the entire deck has cooled down. read more

Mike and his team came in on time and on budget and produced a fantastic shade. The design was well considered and he spent time going over exactly how it would work and why it was important to have at least one corner raised above the others (drainage). Superior Awning and Shade is much better! Mike is Arrogant and difficult. I was given the run around by the owner. Called Mike around 3PM on Friday to get a bid, he said I am really busy but tell me about your project. I go into the explanation and Mike stops me and says, he's really busy (again). He asks me to send pics and go onto his website and fill out the forms and send pics. So I did exactly that. I never get a call back so I call Mike and he says he may or may not have received my information but he is Really Busy ...and asks could he call me back. At this point I am pretty much done with Mike but I will leave the door open since he was recommended to me, a week later I have 2 bids now but thought I will try one more time. I call Mike and he pretends not to have ever spoken to me, stating he has 28 clients right now but he will try to dig up my info. I hang up on Mike and WENT WITH SUPERIOR AWNING - VERY HAPPY. read more

I had the worst experience with Mike. I found him on yelp. We had a lovely conversation about shade sails. He invited me to one of his client's homes to check out their sail. I was all in. My one concern was that I worried it would block the view off our balcony, a question I asked Mike about several times during our in-person meeting, especially since I couldn't tell exactly how it would look from the plans or 3D picture he gave me. He said it would be fine, I texted my husband and let him know, and I asked one more time before I signed the contract. His words are etched in my brain since it took such a bad turn. He said, "it wouldn't be dramatically different." I trusted him. That was a terrible mistake. Now we're stuck with a beautiful shade sail that provides the shade we need but we can't enjoy our balcony anymore. It seems like a trade no one should want to make, so I can't understand why Mike didn't take my concerns more seriously. He was also kind of mean when I went back to him about this. He says it wasn't his mistake and I should have been able to tell from the plans, but again - I could not. He's the expert and I trusted him. And again, why would anyone want a shade sail that covers their balcony? It seems irresponsible to me he would install it this way. He offered to give us a new shade sail at cost but he told me to "accept his time gratefully" when I asked questions about how his new plan would address our concerns. In the end, we didn't want to give him any more money to fix what we don't think is our mistake, especially when we can't trust that the same thing won't happen again. And I learned I should be careful who I trust and make even an even bigger deal about my concerns. I hope this helps other people! read more

Our backyard desperately needed shade, and we are so grateful to have found Mike at Perfect Shade Sails! He was very thorough, took drone shots of the house, met us at the house several times prior to the sail going in to go through the entire process, and was very knowledgeable about the product. We LOVE our sail, it not only provides 95% shade, but it also looks stylish and modern. If you are in the market for a shade sail, Mike is your guy! read more

I worked with Mike at the end of 2016 to do a very large Shade Sail for our backyard. He was extremely helpful and good at his work. Because we were attaching the sail to two separate houses and a roof line, the project required a structural engineer and custom metal fabrication. Mike was very upfront about both cost and time table. I always wait a while before I post reviews to see how things hold up in the elements and I can say that even through the crazy winds and rains that LA got earlier this year, the shade sail has withstood them all. We get compliments on it all the time and it really creates a whole new outdoor living area. Great work Mike! read more

Mike was great to work with. He is very knowledgeable, passionate about his product and communicative. Mike did an excellent job explaining the process, materials, timetable and costs. We just finished installation, and we are very happy. The whole thing took about 3 weeks once we got the owner on site. Send pictures and measurements ahead of time per the website instructions. Mike, the owner, will send you a drawing then come to your house to discuss. We had another bid, and although Mike was slightly higher, we thought his process was more thorough, and the finished product is EXACTLY what he presented to us in person. The longest day was when the guys had to come out and dig 7 and 4 foot holes, but that's required for the size polls we got. After that, Mike and his son were on sight for a few days of final measurements and install. It was relatively painless, and a much better option for us than a full on patio cover installation. read more

The shade sail that Mike and his team installed is beautiful! Mike explained every thing very clearly from start to finish. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. This was the third time I've used Mike and his team for our shade sail design and installation. If there were more than 5 stars, I'd give them! Not only was Mike (and all involved) professional and communicative throughout the entire process, they also managed to complete a complicated project during a global pandemic. I'm beyond impressed with the company, the results, and most importantly, Mike as a person. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. read more

We are very happy with our three new shade sails. The process from consultation to installation was surprisingly quick. Mike was very professional and took time to explain the how and why of shapes and materials. He was patient with my color selection - so many to choose from! We hesitated to choose dark colors but did when they were recommended by our designer daughter. Good idea! The shade is bright and pleasant, not dark at all, and very open and airy. We enjoy the aesthetics of the sails and the shade they provide outside. The cooler temperatures inside the house are a bonus as the sails shade our big windows as well. Mike was easy to work with. When a problem arose with a previous anchor site (not his), he was quick to respond and correct the problem. Highly recommended! read more

I recently had Mike design and install a Sail in my backyard. I had a hard time figuring out a patio cover design that would work with my house and back yard and he talked me into going with a Shade Sail instead of wood solid cover. I am glad that I did because I love the sail! He designed based on the angle of my house and where the sun travels and sets to maximize the shade that I wanted. Mike was very knowledgeable in his field and did a great jjob with design and layout. His installation crew was very professional and polite. They unfortunetly damaged a patch of grass of mine that was not able to get fixed but Mike stepped up and paid for the damage to be replaced was very appreciated and Professional of him. I highly recommend Mike and his team for your Shade Sail needs. read more
