Traveling to a funeral in Mississippi and stopped in Bessemer for the night. Saw great reviews for this place so I tried to find a menu online. When I couldn't find anything to answer the questions I had about their menu, I called and decided to order a pizza and a hoagie at around 7pm. Spoke in detail to an rude gentleman who seemed annoyed with my questions about what comes on and with the hoagie. I asked about what sides come with it and he was clearly frustrated with me. Not sure why. Ordered an 8 inch hoagie and then proceeded to order a large pizza with several toppings. Discussed cost and was told "40-45 minutes". Hung up and waited an hour. Called them back at 8:10 and spoke to the same extremely rude man. He said they were very busy and the delivery person had several other orders to drop off. He then assured me she was on her way and that the food would be hot. Fair enough. My husband is a chef and I worked in the service industry for years. I know how it can be. Waited another 30 minutes. It's now been an hour and a half since we ordered. We have my husbands diabetic brother with us and our 3 year old who'd been in the car for 10+ hours. The delivery woman showed up about 8:40 and was apologetic and pleasant. Unfortunately, she didn't have our hoagie. So, she assured us she'd go right back and get it and come back. She left and we waited some more. At 9:30 I called them back and had a most unpleasant conversation with the Same guy. He said he was the owner. ( I sure hope he isn't.) He was awfully rude, unhelpful, unapologetic and even told me I hadn't ordered any hoagie. (Three people heard me clearly order the hoagie and double check at the end of the order that he got the hoagie). At 9:45 the delivery woman was back with the hoagie and again, pleasant and apologetic. She said she went back and made the sandwich herself and it would be coming out of her check. We tipped her extra because it obviously wasn't her fault. And she shouldn't have to pay for it.
The customer service we received from the man answering the phone (presumably the owner or a manager) was disgusting. I've never been so disrespected for asking simple questions about a simple order. This guy told me I needed to "learn how to order food".
The absolute worst phone conversation I've ever had with a place of business in my life.
The pizza, by the way, was hot when it arrived and it wasn't bad but it wasn't worth the hassle. Not even close.
The hoagie, which my diabetic brother-in-law finally got to eat 2 hours later, was good too. But again, not worth the wait, the insult or the inconvenience.
If I could've rated this place less than 1 star, I would've. We're just passing through so I don't think they will miss our business but others should know what the guy running the place put us through tonight.
Completely and utterly disgusted. read more
