    Sweet Tang Pizza
    Ryan H.

Got take out pizza and garlic bread and both were great. Garlic bread is great portion size for appetizer. Highly recommend the Sweet Tang Pizza. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Didn't eat inside but looked like a cool environment and everyone I interacted with was very helpful and nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will be back for sure.

Half Hot Chick and half Kyle's Thai Pizza

I was hoping for a better experience with Dave's. It wasn't bad. But there just wasn't really anything to rave about. We met some friends and decided to split a pizza. We did a half hot chick and half Kyle's Thai pizza. I was very underwhelmed with the Thai pizza. I didn't taste much curry. And possibly, that was due to splitting the pizza but if I would have known I wouldn't have done it. I really didn't taste anything unique about the Thai pizza at all. Our server was nice, but he almost never came back until the very end of the night. But maybe he was just super busy. Since it was my first time I would give them one more chance.

Amazing Fresh Made pizza & $15 Buffet you can't beat it. The service is as outstanding as the food !!!

    Delicious large pizza!!

The food was amazing, best pizza around with cold drinks! Shout out to the great staff there.

    Dave's Dollar!

What a great neighborhood treat and it's not even my neighborhood! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The pizza variety is awesome and with the ambiance of old school pizzeria vibes coupled with a video game room, chandeliers, live music, and even warm blankets on the patio it hits both the date and family night outing bingo card![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is friendly and chill and the owner unbeknownst to some, has a heart of gold according to my wife, as she informed our family that he has created Dave's Dollars to give to kids at the local library for checking out a book to encourage reading and sharing, to him donating a gift certificate anytime establishments around the area ask! I even learned that every year for the last twelve years that he has donated over 12,000 meals to The Jimmie Hail Mission and The Foundry on an anniversary in remembrance of his father, Dave, and his grandmother! I almost forgot, the first time I visited for lunch, I learned they had a pizza buffet, which are few and far between, and I think he donates the unserved pizza to the less fortunate on a daily basis? In short, the vibe Dave's Pizza sends out, not only to their neighborhood, but to others, makes their pizza taste even better than it already does! Worth a visit...or several. Try the Thai Pie Pizza, sounds weird but is good, and the Sweet Tang Pizza.

    Dyno & Neo Classic

This is now my favorite pizza place in town. I can't believe I have never been here before. Lunch is a great time to visit because you can try many different options on the lunch buffet. Can't beat $8.99 for a fountain drink and some of the best pizza I've ever had. I tried the Dyno (Marinara, Pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, Italian & Pork Sausage, Chopped Bacon), Neo-Classic (Pesto, Red Onion, Pine Nut, Roma Tomato, Feta Cheese, Parsley), Nona (Alfredo, Spinach, Pecan, Grilled Chicken), Sweet Tang (Tangy BBQ sauce, Grilled Chicken, Chopped Bacon, Red Onion, Sharp Cheddar Cheese). I liked them all and would be hard pressed to choose a favorite. The crust was what I liked best. It was a hand tossed style crust that I could have eaten by itself with some marinara and been happy. Server also came around offering slices of an apple dessert pizza (streusel topping lightly drizzled with icing) that was excellent as well. I will definitely be back for lunch in the near future and can't wait to bring the fam.

We came here on the 4th of July. I was expecting a long wait but they were able to sit my family of 6 fairly quickly. We started outside but moved inside when the waitress noticed it was starting to sprinkle. She was so nice and kind I wish I remembered her name. There was live music inside and games outside. Not sure how much of that is specific to 4th of July. The pizza was very good. I forgot to take pictures of it! We ate too fast! For me, it was a little pricey but over all very good. I would go back if I was in the area again. The atmosphere was very small town college vibe. I lived the live music.

First and last time trying Dave's pizza. My crust was burned and the sauce is watery.

Anyways, everyone ordered a calzone and we opted for a large cheese bread which came out ahead of the calzones. What a perfect idea, right....Most places bring your salad or appetizer before the meal, but often way too close to the meal. This young man was running the place alone with great timing. Taking orders, preparing food, cleaning up tables after guests and handling it all very well. Cheese bread was great, fresh out of the oven. Two meat lovers calzones, a supreme calzone, and my wife's over the top concoction of sausage, onion, mushroom, pineapple, and green olives were all a hit and also hot baked from the oven. Messy, but good. Music reminded me of car rides with my mom back in the 90's. Large portion of the dining room says it's closed but I couldn't figure out why. Even though one guy was running the entire show, service was great. About $20 per person with tip, so not too bad. I like their pizza box, which says 'break the chain - eat local'.

I stopped by for lunch, and ordered the ziti with meatballs. I didn't get a drink because they only have soda; no water or tea. The ziti was lukewarm. The sauce and meatballs were a little on the bland side, but pepper flakes livened it up. The garlic bread was extra crispy and burned to charcoal around the edges and bottom. I didn't see the bottom was burned until I tasted it. As it it tasted of carbon. I am surprised they let that out of the kitchen. The bill with tip came to over $15, and I don't think the meal was worth that. I think they need.to look at what they are putting on people's plates before it leaves the kitchen. Non-soda drink options would be nice as well.

One could make an argument, and rightfully so, that pizza is not a dish requiring reinvention. Yet,…read morewe are humans, we cannot stop ourselves at the Neapolitan classic version, the iconic NYC slices nor the Chicago deep dish. Something within us, is tirelessly reinventing. Whether good or bad, someone else can decide. A real distinction of Pizza Grace is in its most fundamental element, and the aspect that one could argue to be the most important part of any pizza, period. Of course, that would be the crust. The crust here is created with wild yeast sourdough, called "Frank", resulting in a unique profile regardless of what later lands on top of the pizza. Let's pause here for just a second, is it not ridiculous having to wait 24-48 hours for the slow crust fermentation to happen? Apparently, the owners Chef Ryan Westover and his wife Helene didn't think so. Their signature pizza here is no less impressive either: topped with Louisiana crawfish, ricotta, Parmesan, mint and basil. It is a true star of the show. It's hard for most people to pinpoint exactly where they had the best pizza of their life, but this warehouse building in Alabama might just end up being that spot.

We walked up the street with a half dozen other diners. Wooden City is definitely not in the best part of BHM. Walking to the restaurant was a little sketchy, no need for a detailed description. Although we had reservations, the hostess looked at us like we had three eyes. She found a small table for us in the far back of the restaurant. No problem, at least we were seated. Our server greeted us quickly and went over the menu. We ordered drinks, blistered Hungarian peppers and a sausage and mushroom pizza. We told him that we were going to a concert and were on a little bit of a tight schedule. By the time our server checked on our food, the second time, we went from a little bit tight to full "gotta get out of here" mode. I guess the delay in getting our food was to give the kitchen time to burn our pizza. Over half of the thick, chewy crust was inedible. The bottom of the pie didn't fare much better. The peppers, on the other hand, were amazing. (not so much so at 2 am but that's just me!) They are a do not miss. We were at least able to settle our bill quickly and made it to the concert with time to spare. Overall, would we go back? Only if in the area - those peppers were amazing. Still, I definitely would not make a special trip.
