We paid Mike Hamlin the first half on 23March2023 for a big iron fence job we contracted and he had…read morenoted the fence installation would take about 2-3 weeks to get materials and installed. After several months of excuses and avoiding calls, they started on 13Jul2023. I had to constantly call and text to no avail, he was not answering. Once completed, the materials were not what promised - the iron fencing was supposed to be powder coated, but was rusting within 2 months. All he did was spray paint over some of the rusted parts. Also, he installed a solar gate opener, but it only worked for a few weeks. I asked him to repair/replace and he came out, but could never fix it (even though it was under warranty). After 2 years of continually calling/texting, I had to give up. Mike was very unprofessional, out of town when he promised work to be done and really never apologized for anything, just laughed it off. I have never dealt with such low quality work and horrible customer relations. Just stay away from this company, you'll regret it if you do use them.

On May 23, 2023, I asked for the update I never received. I was told it would be "a little longer". On May 24, 2023, I checked in again and was told he'd "follow up in a bit". On May 26, 2023, I asked to cancel the contract if it couldn't be completed by June 6, 2023, and he replied, "I'll get it done". On June 3, 2023, the work was partially began, and a mess left behind. On June 5, 2023, I inquired about the work being finished, and it was pushed further down the road. On June 6, 2023, I asked for updates and no response until I sent a demand letter on June 13, 2023. I've been told twice that I'll be paid back from Mike but nothing has been received. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

(I'll try to add a photo of the gate after this review). Multiple emails, text messages, phone calls to Lonestar Fence and Construction over multiple weeks have been ignored. A final walkthrough has not been performed. When they finished construction, one of the partners went through our neighbor's yard to jump the fence and find me in the backyard. I knew they were coming by that same day of completion to collect but never furnished a time. My comments about the quality of the workmanship to one of the partners were ignored.

I contracted Alpha Elite Roofing to replace a small roof for over $4,000, which included getting the Texas Department of Insurance inspection and certification. As a first-time homeowner, I trusted the process they outlined. Unfortunately, I discovered that the inspection certificate was never obtained, resulting in TDI refusing to renew my insurance. Over the past three months, I have made at least 75 attempts to contact Andrew through calls, emails, and voice messages, explaining my urgent need for the certification...due to calls from my mortgage and insurance companies. Despite him advising he was waiting to hear back from his engineer (3 months ago), he now refuses to return any of my outreaches or those made by an engineer on my behalf. As a single mother with a single income, I cannot afford to pay for another roof nor can I afford to be without insurance. Please be cautious and thoroughly research any company you hire.

He said he'd do it, so we kept him in mind for the job. In May 2023, we decided to simply replace the whole awning and go high tech. Ron came out to review the details of the project, and he's a guy that is always on time. Ron's a very personable guy and lays out your options and cost very clearly. We selected their "Eclipse Retractable Shading System" that is powered by Somfy System, which specializes in motorized solutions for homes and buildings. My wife picked out the color and fabric of the cover and we could not be happier with the way it turned out. The day of installation went very well. Ron had two guys remove, cut up, and haul off the old awning and install the new one. Ron was here and did the final setup. The system comes with remotes that work well. We added Somfy's TaHoma Wi-Fi system that works great and is easy to setup from your smart phone. We love it. Our new awning is providing great valve to our home. Ron and his team will be there to provide excellent support if needed. We highly recommend Excel Awning & Shade.
