Im so disappointed that I feel like I was treated badly enough to even justify writing a bad review about a business. My first appointment with Emily was fantastic. Today was a miss from her on shape and design. The real issue is the man that works the front. I made an appointment yet still feel like the entire thing was completely rushed. There were some faults on communication with the nail tech like me showing a picture of exactly what I wanted (a French with a few 3D acrylic flowers) her saying "that's cute!" and carrying on and then when it came time for design she started the flowers in polish instead of shaping with acrylic. She then said that she doesn't do that and I responded with "okay I just wish you told me from the beginning" and left it at that. She then did a French on all of the nails. I could look past the shape of the nail being off despite me showing her a clear picture of what she did on me before but the French being completely uneven was too much. As soon as she finished she got up and walked away and said I was all done. I felt so rushed to get up and pay. Had I not felt that way I would've stayed and absolutely noticed that I was not happy with the job done. I always want to give the artist a chance to fix something if I don't like it. When I got home I really noticed. I called the shop hoping for something to remedy the situation. When I said that I had just left and I now noticed the nails and that I wasn't happy his response verbatim was "okay, so what do you want me to do about it". I said what I would like is for you to maybe offer a time to come back and get this fixed. He said "why wouldn't you say something when you were here? You should've done that" I said "you're absolutely right I should have and had I not been completely rushed out of there I would have noticed and said something" then came the excuses of "well it's a French. This is hand drawn it's not like it's a sticker." I'd heard enough at that point and just said forget it I just won't return. He then replied with "okay bye!" Save your money, go elsewhere. While i know I'm not their end all be all to keep their business going and me not returning will not break them, It would've been nice to not have been talked to that way. Today I was in desperate need to get my eyebrows waxed. My brows were so disgusting that it looked like I had two bushes on my forehead. I'm serious. Ask Jason M. of New Britain...lol! I wanted to go to the closest place and ta da, it was Gloria's Nail and Spa. I didn't have an appointment. At 12:30 on a Saturday, I drove up and was served immediately. The service was $8, which was as cheapest price in the area. The lady who had the unfortunate task of waxing my eyebrows was very pleasant. Though I love the Silk Nails location across from Stop and Shop in West Hartford, I think I will start going there to get my brows done from now on. The place is closer to home and they look like they need more business. FYI: Credit cards are accepted for purchases over $10. If less, bring cash. read more

I was charged $50 for my pedicure and it was horrible! I got a French pedicure the lines were of and some nails were not even filled in completely with the nail polish. I mentioned it to her and she said " Thats your nail". I told her to cutt a little and she over did it and messed My toe nails up! I also got an acrylic refill and she cut and hurt my cuticles! she put too much acrylic on my nails making them look like bubbly and bulky, getting acrylic on my actual skin. I also asked for square shape and she did more of a coffin shape by over filling my nails in the corners . The staff were friendly and asked to fix any of the mistakes made but overall I was not satisfied because of the pain that my fingers are in right and the way my toe nails look! read more

Today was a very disappointing day for my sister and I. After a morning a helping a friend paint a house we decided to get our nails done. Too bad it was a Sunday, it took a little work to find a nail salon that was actually open...until we turned on Google Maps and found one. Gloria Nail and Spa came up as Nails 201 which wasn't a big deal. It was confirmed however that Gloria Nail and Spa is in fact their new name. Right from the get go I really like the place, it was clean, they had a good selection of Shellac colors to choose from and there was no one there so we were seated right away. The back massages that you get in the beginning are great (first time experience for this). 20 minutes pass and I start to realize that there are no prices listed anywhere...I brushed it off quickly just assuming that it would come out to no more than $30 (at most, although I do only pay $20 at my normal salon.) Nearing the end of my service my sister was just finishing up drying her nails. She realized after sitting there almost 7 minutes that her nails weren't completely dry. She asked my nail technician if she can allow her nails to under UV rays to dry quicker. The nail technician quickly snapped back that UV does absolutely nothing for regular nail polish. My sister then proceeds to let her know that the nail salon we usually go to sets her manicure under UV and she's had no problems with her polish messing up after. She was directed to spend a couple more minutes under the dry but still...they were wet. I was then done with my manicure and proceeded to the register to pay, my sister kindly paid for both of us and there is was... $68.72. I couldn't help but appear bug-eyed seeing as though my sister was only given a fill and I, Shellac. My sister then picked up a menu that was near the register to recheck the prices..from the prices listed in the menu it would've only came out to $50.00. (Still, our normal nail salon would have only been around $35-40.00, but anyways..). My technician then continued to tell my sister that they menu is 5 years old...5 years old ?! Then why is it here, in your store, 5 years later. This is exactly the reaction my sister gave her and demanded to be charged the advertised price. We were charged the $50.00 in the end. My Shellac came out great and my sisters new color looked fantastic but...It is clear that we will not be going back to this nail salon, let alone referring it. read more

I stopped by this place one time when the place I wanted to try out in Corbins Corner had no power. I got a simple manicure and I was definitely happy with it.. but I still had mixed feelings about it. At first, I was a little put off because during the entire process, which included a massage as well, the manicurists there only talked to each other in Korean and I felt completely ignored. I told myself that it was fine... I wanted a manicure and I was getting a nice one.. They did a great job with my nails, I have to admit. But then, on the plus side, it was only $12, which makes up for a little bit of it. I'm still giving it a decent 3-star rating because the manicure and massage were really good. I went here on a Sunday at noon, which is normally a busy time but I had no wait and was seated immediately for my manicure and pedicure. Overall my nails came out great and there was also a shoulder and neck massage at the end while my nails dried. Unfortunately, my overall experience was very underwhelming. When I came in, I was sent to a chair quickly for a pedicure, BUT I had to sit with my shoes on for about 8 mins at the chair because there was no water in the tub. From there, everything felt a bit off as far as customer service. The utensils for the pedicure seemed old. My pedicure was very quick and there was no sugar scrub. I decided I didn't want to go further and ended it before she put on any oils/polish. When I checked out the staff wanted me to pay the full pedi price ($30) which seemed high, especially when I didn't complete the full service. They were able to adjust the final amount, but in the end I was just unsatisfied. read more

I went here after someone suggested it to me. I got a pedicure one time and wasn't impressed but decided to give them another chance. I got a shellac manicure that starting chipping in 2 days. They had no AC on and it was 95 degrees out. When they saw me wipe sweat off my face they started laughing and someone turned on the AC which hadn't even kicked in by the time I left, The people there weren't very friendly so I didn't bother going back to have them fix my chips.
