I've worked mostly with the cats at St. Huberts, and while I haven't adopted, I have fostered a handful of times. (A great way to get involved, especially if you're not sure that you want to commit to a pet.) There is a huge support system for fosters like me, and they will even provide you with materials to get you started such as food and litter. If you're interested in animals, it's worth it come out and support this shelter. They're happy to take volunteers if you can't adopt!

Sunny was very responsive to both and was able to give me more background on this dog that they recently acquired from a high volume shelter in Newark, NJ. She was able to test the dog to see how it interacted with a dog and a cat. The process was very straightforward and painless. The adoption application was two pages and after it was submitted, we were able to set up an an appointment to meet with the dog. I am glad Sunny gave us her number because the GPS in our car did not really understand where the shelter was truly located. After we received assistance in seeing a landmark, we found the shelter which was a lovely place tucked at the end of a road with beautiful grounds to walk our dog with the shelter dog. The adoption fee was more than reasonable. After deciding that we would adopt the dog, we were given a soft enclosed carrier in which to transport our new dog home safely with our other dog in the back seat. When the cat and…read moreI didn't work out, they tried to discourage the return but they ultimately allowed it, realizing that the animal did not pair well with a guy who was never around. They gave me credit on my original deposit to a new cat, who became my beloved companion for over 11 years. I have a whole story, but the short version? They toured me around the cat room, let me have 1 on 1 with my chosen feline(s), and then introduced me to a new one who had JUST come in - and she came home with me. That's a special touch, there. They followed up on the status of my failed adoptee, who found a loving house with several people around to give him attention. Well, time moves on, and today I went back to donate the supplies. And they were very accepting and appreciative. Still the same place they always were - a haven of love for your chosen cat, dog, cats, dogs, or both. Or to provide loving care and donations for the animals they are sheltering. Long live MPAS.

They really care about their pets they really know their pets and I respect that. This is a no kill shelter so although they want the cats to go to a good home they will not put the cats in any potentially dangerous situations their screening process is thorough and I really respect it. I was adopting as my beloved canine partner and co-parent to my younger jack russell passed away following an extended illness. My small boy was eager for a play-mate. The first two dogs we were excited to meet were not a good fit for us and we thought it was a sign that it wasn't the right time. Until the lovely volunteer we were working with, Marie, introduced us to her foster pup. She had watched our interactions with other dogs and saw the personality of my JRT and his disposition and encouraged us to meet whom we now call Nancy. Nancy has a fear of men and a timid personality and thought my good natured boy would be the perfect companion to allow her to come out of her shell and shine. Best decision for me, my JRT and I think for Nancy too. I am forever grateful for these folks who go above and beyond to find the the best match for the animal and the family. An incredibly difficult job the volunteers do which I think is often overlooked. Thank you for completing our family!

Then March of this year, our 2nd boy passed over the Rainbow Bridge. Recently we decided we missed having two canine family members and set out to begin the search for a friend for our dog Daisy (also a rescue) and I knew about Eleventh Hour Rescue and the work they do for a while and had attended events like Puptoberfest. When we saw there was a Winter market happening at the Sussex fairgrounds, we got our pre-appoved application completed and attended the event with Daisy hoping to meet a particular dog. When it turned out the beautiful girl in question wouldn't be quite the right fit for our family, we came close to leaving and determined to search through other adoptable dogs with 11th Hour when we were asked if Daisy wanted to meet Jett, who we'd missed. We did an introduction and short walk together with one of the volunteers and our family. It became quickly apparent that these two would become fast friends and he was super friendly immediately with our whole family. Jett came home with us that day and immediately seemed to feel right at home. But he wasn't answering to his name, so we bounced a bunch around and thought we'd have to use a process to change it, but we came up with Remmington III (Remmy casually) and he began answering to that almost immediately. We are on day 3 and we all couldn't be happier. Everyone who volunteers with Eleventh Hour from the pre-approval process to the event staff were so welcoming, encouraging and wonderful. They do a fantastic job of vetting potential adopters so that each animal finds their perfect furever home. I would recommend anyone searching for a furry family member to consider them.

She referred someone to help us trap a feral cat in our neighborhood that just had 6 kittens and then took all seven of them into the shelter for spay/neutering and care. All the kittens were adopted and mama was returned to our neighborhood under our care. We were able to visit our feline family while they were cared for at the shelter. The shelter is clean and bright on the inside where the animals are kept and the staff and volunteers are wonderful in how they interact with all of the animals. They also have someone who works with the larger dogs on behavior and commands to improve their chances of adoption. When the time comes for us to adopt another dog (we prefer large breeds), the Wayne Animal Shelter will be our first stop.

So I made another purchase for the orthopedic jumbo sized (this bed is huge). I called Chewy and told them of my situation needing to purchase a larger bed and return the XL orthopedic bed. They were so helpful with my return and empathetic to my dog's medical situation. I told them, it's already boxed up and ready to be shipped back, but they are so caring due to the fact they told me to donate it to the local shelter or humane society. I did some quick research on Yelp--of course-- and found the closest shelter was Eleventh Hour Rescue and their Roxbury location was just minutes away!! The lady (I believe her name was Ana), she was helpful and friendly as I told her why I was donating it. The transaction was very quick. It's always nice to give free donations to organizations that support neglected or abandoned animals. Donated a new dog bed and an open box pee pads (3/4 full). She was very appreciative of the donation.

My vet wanted $150 to do the micro chip and register pup for only one year. I found the Garden State Animal Rescues micro chip clinic and I am glad I did! They were so kind and personable to deal with. They came to my house to do the injection and they registered my pup with home again for life! The fee? $30 because I live in monmouth county! Not only did they do that service, but they gave me info on training and suggested a probiotic for my puppy's upset stomach. Cannot say enough good about them! There is also a self-service dog wash and it's super convenient to stop by and use rather than bathing your dog at home. They even provide shampoo and conditioner and towels as part of the service. I love how they carry a multitude of brands that you can't find at Petco.
