So Tillies makes me very sad, but also very happy! It seems the masses of Clontarf do be in and out of here all day and everyone is really friendly. I was here recently for a chin-wag with an old friend and we enjoyed our 90 minutes or so in the bright, bustling surroundings. We each had a cappuccino and a scone. The cappuccino was decent. Not too milky - just how like it. The scone was a wee bit dry but good all the same, served with cream and jam -my favourite! The staff were lovely, very friendly having chats with customers (everybody knows everybody so of course they are!) and just being generally smiley, which makes the cafe quite cheerful.

If you go for the homemade soup it's guaranteed to be really good and I recommend getting their gluten free bread with that; it's nicer than the brown, white or granary. My parents went for desserts and they were excellently presented and apparently very good. The decor is cute. There's many prints with a Clontarf or Pigeon House theme. The exposed pipe work and old fashioned light bulbs work really well with the oily green paint. The windows let in loads of light which makes the place very comfortable to sit in but not too bright. My daughter didn't like her rhubarb jam so we traded and she had my side of berries, which she enjoyed greatly with her granola. It was a large bowl, but she did fine finishing up most of it and passing the rest to my husband. While for me, it wasn't the best porridge I've ever had, it was good. So impressed with this little cafe, it's been on the list for a while…read more Attached to the garden centre in blackbanks, super funky, with home made brownies, scones and treats. They also do sandwiches. The coffee is proper barista coffee and delicious, id happily sit here all day, chilling out, sitting beside the open stove heater in a glass house type environment, no rushing you out, just so peaceful. There's also a vegetable shop attached to the garden centre and durinf the week apparently there's music, I'll have to make this my new chill out place, especially for the summer months, right beside the sea front and great spot to go to after a walk. Well needed spot down here!
