Good cut. Didn't enjoy all the banter & excess chat. I would have rather sat quietly and had a few words here and there. Felt like I had to have a conversation because of the stylists constant engagement. She was friendly and all don't get me wrong, I am just not a fan of inauthentic dialogue. My family is looking for a new hairstylist as ours just moved to Texas. With some great reviews from my fellow Yelpers, I was hoping my college son was going to be happy with his haircut, but unfortunately even when she was shown a photo of the cut she cut it short, and when my son told her he likes it a little longer, she cut it even shorter. You would think with a new client that she could error on the side of longer rather than shorter? She must have had a bad day. Good thing hair grows! Maybe she is good for cutting men's hair but not women, I waited for 1 hour, I tried to call for appointment but no one answer and the place is too hot AC was off in summer time. My haircut was uneven and shorter than I requested and the layer I asked for wasn't visible, but the price is reasonable $20. read more

I needed a trim and tired of my stylist taking off 4" when I asked for 1" off, I chose Karen based on the reviews here. I am not taking away anything from Karen's ability as a stylist or how friendly she is - major kudos for both. The fact of the matter is her salon has grown in business because of her Yelp reviews and quite frankly I am not sure she can keep up. First I chose an weekday afternoon and was confronted with a 35 minute wait. Then I went back the next day at 11am and there was one cut and a color ahead of me which turned out to be an hour wait. The cut was fine - she dry cut it because I had been waiting for so long and she listened in terms of keeping it to an inch. She did a good job. She is doing it all shampooing, cleaning up, coloring, answering phones, cutting, etc. For a one person shop without appointments it seems to be a bit much. I used to go to a 1 person shop, but with appointments it very manageable. I'm not sure how long she can keep this first-come, first-serve business without affecting her clients from walking out after dealing with long wait times. I saw one person walk out because they didn't want to wait. MInd you, she is located near Sierra College and college kids are always wanting a cheap haircut so most likely she doesn't have down time. I know its hard to run a small business, but maybe it's time Karen add a shampoo person or someone else to help with things like color. I am pleased with the cut, but not sure if i want to deal with having to wait 30 minutes or more to get it. Just check your patience - you're going to need it if you go to this salon. read more

I debuted my new 'do (undercut style) at my birthday dinner last night and my friends all told me they loved it. Well, you know...sometimes friends can tell a little white lie so they wouldn't completely break your heart. Now, when someone you don't know compliments your hair, that's definitely a confirmation! For a $16 haircut she did WONDERFUL! I'm growing out my pixie cut and the evened out my hair and did exactly what I needed. She takes her time and really makes sure you're satisified. Just over a week before getting married, I finally went to get my highlights redone, so I would have them fresh for the wedding. I also wanted a trim, so I wouldn't have split ends. I had long hair, about 4" above my waistline, which I had maintained as best as I could for 2 years to grow it long and keep it healthy for my wedding. It did however, have a "V" shape to it when I put it all back behind my shoulders. So I asked for the trim to slightly straighten that, without cutting too much (seeing as I grew it so long FOR my wedding)... First off, the color went TERRIBLE!! There was bleeding bleach spots. The worst of all was about 3" in diameter, right in the back of my head, along with others. The "stylist" tried to fix it after taking all the foils out, but the color wouldn't hold. Since this was a WEEK before my wedding, I had tons to do that weekend, and they are closed Mondays, so I had to come in Tuesday, the week of my Saturday wedding, to get the color fixed. The manager/owner did fix the huge spot, but mind you, I was still charged FULL PRICE! $145!! Now, for the part that had me in TEARS for a week... The girl, who cut my hair... showed me a piece of hair indicating how much she was going to cut, verifying the length with me. I said, "yes," as she was showing me approximately 1" of hair. Instead, however, she CHOPPED off over FOUR inches of hair!!!!!!!! Ruining 2 years of hair growth for that specific day. After a horrible color, my worst ever, and completely ruining my cut, and charging full price, then having me return to get it "fixed." I wasn't offered any condolenscens or apologizes or discounts. Not that it would've helped. They should've offered extensions-- FOR FREE! I will continuously spread the word of their terrible service. By the way, I chose this place based on the RAVING REVIEWS of others on here and yelp, and all for nothing. read more

Karen is a total sweet heart. She will cut your hair until you are satisfied with the cut. The place DOES look super high end with professionals cutting your hair for a fair price. I think I paid $12? I forget, but whatever it was, it was well worth it! I got my first A-line cut here by Karen and I loved it. I've maintained the cut with a few trims and it still looks good. For a $12 haircut it's pretty good! I didn't know what do to with my hair and since I was low on budget I figured I'd give this place a try by getting the simplest done - a trim. Now I have a shoulder length layered haircut and she did a pretty good job with following the last cut and listening to what I wanted. It took about 15-20 minutes max. The place is very clean and easy going, does look more like a high end salon than your run of the mill super cuts and its always nice when the owner is the one working on you. Okay so this is where I go when I need a quick trim. Karen is the only one who is ever there when I visit (usually after work). I LOVE that I don't need an appt. however I will usually have to wait 10-20 minutes for her to finish someone else. I have got my hair cut (just trimmed dead ends) 3-5 times and I love the value and quality. She takes the time to cut layers perfectly even. There is no wash or style in her price but I am usually just going home after to shower anyhow. You can tell by the way she cuts hair she is very experienced in techniques. I would go to her for my next new haircut style getting long layers and bangs but I'm still a little nervous and I'll go somewhere that overcharges me I'm sure. There was one occasion when she asked me how much to cut and I told her just cut dead ends. I was a bit disappointed it was several inches but my hair WAS much healthier. Moved to the area a year ago and dreaded having to find a new place for my haircut. Thank goodness for Yelp I found Karen and she is grrrreat! She gets my hair and my young son's too, who hated his hair cuts. But totally cooperated with Karen! She's great with kids too. Karen has a very pleasant personality, great to chat with and always has a smile on her face. No appointments though so you might be waiting for a while.
