Review for James Penrose: After my last stylist became a stay at home mom, I was on the hunt for someone who could do a great job to my hair. For me it is hard to find someone who is willing to listen to my ideas and tell me what will work and what won't with my hair. And I am one stubborn fool, so it takes a lot to get me to change my mind. For a while I had James cutting my hair the same way I've always had it cutin the past, but he was able to convince me to take a risk and go short on the sides with it longer on top, swept to the side and back. This cut has been a hit and I constantly am having people compliment me on the look. Plus James is always great to talk to so the cut seems to go very quickly. I have been going to this salon since the first day it opened. The receptionist at the front is ALWAYS friendly and willing to help anyone who walks into the salon. I've personally witnessed her going out of her way to make sure we are greeted and making sure our stylist knows we are there. She is NOT a manager of the studio. If I ever experienced a problem of any kind there I would speak with my stylist about it. The 1 Star is not valid. That person did not receive service at the salon. If his daughter was unhappy about a service she should be the one doing the review about her stylist... not a mentally unstable verbally abusive father. Oh my goodness! I am so glad I called and was scheduled with Tara!!! I have been coloring my hair on and off for the past year, just to keep things interesting. After moving to Roseville from Orlando, FL, it was time for a new color. I showed Tara pictures of what I wanted and told her I just wanted my ends trimmed. She made some suggestions that I liked, so I went with a cut instead of a trim. Everything looked great. Then she asked about my bangs. No one touches my bangs more than once. I give new stylists a chance, but no one does them better than me... til Tara. My bangs look amazing. I was hooked. But wait! There's more! After the great cut, Tara started on my color. She painted in highlights that look natural. After two processes of red dye, my color was set (The appointment did take longer than I thought it would, but I think that was because I chose to do a second 'coat,' if you will, of the red dye). I love it. It's perfect for fall. I know I'm going to struggle with keeping the red in my hair, so I guess I'll just have to go back. read more

I would rate 0 if I could. In Sept 2020, right as salons were opening back up again, I had an appt with Bailee to lighten my hair. This was my first experience in a professional salon and I was really excited. I'd been coloring my own hair with Paul Mitchell color prior to this just to get rid of the gray hairs. I have dark brown hair and my end goal was to get to lavender. Bailee explained to me that this process would take several sessions to achieve the color I want and I was ok with that. My appt was scheduled 12-4 and I didn't leave until about 7:30pm. Being that this was my first time getting my hair done by a professional and getting it bleached, I wasn't familiar with the normal process for this and thought everything was fine. First, she left the bleach on my hair for 3+ hours! That's the amount of time it took for the application and she never washed out the sections that had already been sitting in bleach for almost an hour. At the time I didn't know that was NOT ok and the average time is 30min for previously colored hair. After washing out the bleach she toned my hair and there was still some red tones in the hair. She asked me if I wanted her to tone it again or leave it that way to see if I like it. I told her to tone it. She didn't explain to me that she would be toning it back to a dark brown. $220 later I left with barely a shade lighter than I went in with. I still didn't realize the extent of the damage she did to my hair until weeks later. I had beautiful healthy medium length hair when I went in. Since then I have had to regularly cut off inches of dead ends (I'm at shoulder length hair now). I have spend so much money on hair treatments and masks just to bring my hair back to life and it's still a work in progress, 8 months later! I can not bleach my hair again until the condition of my hair improves. It was the worst experience I've ever had and hope no one else has to deal with that. The reason it took me so long to write a review is because It took me awhile to realize the extent of the damage she caused and I was hesitant for awhile bc I didn't want to be mean. But at this point I'm very frustrated because my hair is ruined and now will take many more months to get the process I want started. I wish I had pictures to share but unfortunately I do not. My new hair stylist can vouch for how bad my hair has been since then! read more

recently went to here to get my hair dyed back to my natural medium brown. I showed my hair dresser, Marina, a basic picture of solid medium brown hair. it came out very very dark almost to black. after reading the reviews about this place I was a little disappointed. However, the salon itself was spectacular. had a coffee and tea bar machine in a waiting area with a tv. and each stylist had a private room. very nice place, I'll try it again probably just not with marina. read more

This is my second Yelp review for Brianna - the other was at her previous location. I've been coming to Brianna for a couple years now and I couldn't imagine what I'd do if she stopped doing hair or moved. lol. Over the years I've been through several stylists and I've paid some very good money for some very bad results. Brianna is very talented and always does exactly what I want - she offers suggestions when I'm not quite sure. And her prices are very reasonable. My hair always looks great and I've referred several friends to her - which is kind of funny because the way I found her is from seeing a woman at work - I literally ran down the halls to stop her and ask for the contact info for her stylist. I've had my hair thermally straightened by him for the past 9 years and it always turns out flawless!! In addition to color work and cutting. I'm not very adventurous with cut but he can do it. He always shows me some of his A Line cuts and I wish I had the huevos to do it but I won't (long hair for life). And he always has great constructive criticism. Sometimes, as most of us do, I will want to get a little too wild but he knows exactly what is too far and what isn't. BEST SALON in Roseville/Rocklin area! I wanted to comment to the review given by C S. on 2/6/2018, who gave one star. I was there to witness the events that took place by this customer, her family and boyfriend. I have been a customer of Studio 55 for a couple of years and have enjoyed meeting such professional, talented stylists. The receptionist is extremely pleasant, nice, caring and professional. The management team is wonderful and are genuinely nice people. The Studio 55 team treat everyone like family, which makes it a happy and enjoyable experience once you enter the Studio. I am not part of Studio 55 management just a client. My stylist called me to tell me about her client who showed her a picture of a cut she wanted and how she loved it and gave her over 20% tip. While on the phone, I heard a man screaming and yelling in the background. The man sounded abusive and saying criticizing words. When I got to the Studio, I saw a man screaming and yelling at the receptionist. His daughter was trying to pull him back but the father was getting in the receptionist's face. A stylist was asking him nicely to lower his voice and to not speak so disrespectful. The man was yelling at the stylist and complained that his daughter's hair was too short and that one strand was longer than the other. Because my stylist told me the type of cut and style her client wanted, which was a side part, I knew that the longer strand pieces was due to the client not parting her hair on the side. When I saw the client, her hair was parted in the middle, was wet and not styled. She definitely did not leave this way as I saw the picture my stylist took after it was styled. While I was standing by the door, the daughter was able to pull her dad outside. I asked him, "what's going on?" He told me he thought the hair was too short and one side had a longer strands. I told the man that I spoke to the stylist and her daughter loved her cut and that it looked exactly like the picture she showed the stylist. They both looked surprised by my comment. I don't think they knew the client had a picture of what she wanted. The client and her boyfriend came out of the studio and the client told her sister, "let's go I got the full refund". I asked her if she got what she wanted? She said yes. I said to her "you told the stylist you were happy and loved your hair, what happened?" I asked her to show me the picture she showed the stylist. She looked shocked when I asked and started trembling. Her sister was urging them to go and her boyfriend said you have to understand that people don't tell what they really feel right then and there. I told him I disagree. If you are not satisfied, you need to say something to allow the stylist to fix it. I asked again to see the picture but everyone ignored me. I already knew something was not right about the whole situation. After they left the premises, the manager to the suite arrived. He spoke to a few stylists and saw the pictures. After looking into the situation, the client got exactly what she wanted. The cut was gorgeous. The client expressed she wanted a change and she was very happy when she left. I don't know what happened after she left the salon, but I think her father didn't like the cut she wanted. The father commented how he's a business owner himself-I don't know what type of business he owns but you don't yell or disrespect people and expect to get an apology. If you didn't like the cut, why would you say you loved it and give over 20% tip read more
