In my opinion, the sauce and cheese was an overload which drowned out the flavour of the food. I couldn't quite taste the meat very well. It was a decent, packed sandwich, I would just recommend asking for little sauce and less cheese, so the other flavours stand out. The fries were crispy on the outside, and the sauce they came with was nice and creamy. I'd recommend splitting the sandwich between 2-3 people. I couldn't finish one on my own because of the large portion, so I decided to take the rest home. The inside is comfortable and cozy, and feels like a classic deli shop. We ordered online for pick up and the process was pretty smooth and easy though I'd rather to eat in next time. The wait staff was also very nice and helped me grab more order quickly. Tried their original smoked meat on rye and also a beef knish with gravy. The gravy was pretty awesome! I haven't tried a beef knish before so I enjoy it for the texture and flavours it provides. Definitely better with the gravy and though it looked small, it was a good portion of food.

They are open daily from 11am to 5pm where you can pre-order off Ambassador for pick up or opt for delivery with Ubereats. When Ariete E Toro first opened last year, I recall seeing the long lines as it became super popular. Fast forward to a year later, I finally tried Ariete E Toro recently. The storefront is on a side street off of Yonge St. where it is take out only. They do have a bench near the window/entrance of the store but usually it's utilized by people waiting for their sandwiches. In the summer though, they have a small patio in front of the shop with some tables and chairs. Menu wise, Ariete E Toro has a variety of sandwiches with ingredients that work well together. You are also able to build your own sandwich if you'd like. They also have beverages like soda and water as well. The store boasts that all their ingredients are high quality. An average price of a sandwich is around $17. I decided to pre-order 2 sandwiches for pick up. These are the two sandwiches I got: - Enzo (mortadella di bologna, pistachio pesto, stracciatella cheese, chopped pistachio, lemon and basil oil). - Rogo Rogo (prosciutto cotto, 'nduja cream, smoked provolone, caramelized onion, arugula, and brown butter vinaigrette) Entering the store to pick up my order, staff were amidst completing my sandwiches. There was already a regular there chatting with staff. Service was quick. My sandwiches were packed and I had half of each at home. The size of the sandwich was pretty big! I could only finish 3/4th of the sandwich. Both the Enzo and the Rogo Rogo were tasty but the Enzo stole the show. The moist bread with the mortadella where the pistachio pesto and hint of stracciatella cheese along with a slight crunch from the chopped pistachio made for a perfect sandwich (I do prefer the bread a bit harder and crunchier though but the texture of this one was still good). I was sharing the sandwiches with my partner and as he opened the packaging he noticed a piece of hair in the sandwich. I would have given a higher rating on Yelp but finding someone else's hair in your food is off-putting. I do hope that if I return next time (either to this location or to their new location near Ossington/Dundas) that we won't find any surprises in our food. Overall, delicious sandwiches in Midtown Toronto, however, we did find a piece of hair in our sandwiches which.... kind of makes me hesitant to return. **Update** - I wrote a review on Google where the owner personally asked me to email them to rectify the situation with the piece of hair found in my sandwich. The owner apologized and stated that he was actually the one who personally made my sandwich that day (sliced the deli meat, etc.). He also made sure that he would speak with the bread manufacturer to make sure that they were aware of the situation as it may have come from the bread as well. He also gave me a refund for one sandwich as well as a $25 credit for if I wanted to give the sandwich spot another chance (the sandwich is too good to not go back!). They also do deli sandwiches where you order at the counter, where the sandwich is made to order. I've heard of this Italian neighbourhood gem for a while now where I finally went to try their sandwiches recently (on a Saturday!). Walking to the storefront, we almost missed the shop as the "La Salumeria" was so unassuming where the colour was fading as well. Walking inside, every inch of the store was filled with products. Reading other reviews, we made sure to pick up our bread before heading to the counter, which had a short line (about only 3 people ahead of us which was a relief since we went on a Sat around 1pm). Near the cashier there were also lots of delicious looking baked goods as well. We opted to grab a kaiser bun and an Italian bread for the house special sandwich. We also decided to get a mortabella sandwich with the ciabatta bun. At the counter, service was friendly and efficient. All the staff at the deli were working hard to serve customers, making sure that we were attended to. Carlo, the owner, was also present in the shop, helping out making sandwiches as well as recommending customers certain cheeses and answering questions. After placing our order at the counter and handing over our breads to the staffs, we waited about 5 min for our sandwiches to be made. Paying at the cashier, the shop takes cash, debit and credit. When we left, there was another staff who opened the door for us. We ate our sandwiches once we got home. The house special which consists of prosciutto, spicy salami, creamy buffalo mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, spicy peppers, fig jam, balsamic vinegar and olive oil, was delicious. The quality of the deli meats and cheese are definitely the highlight of the sandwich! The fig jam also adds a slight sweetness to the sandwich which works incredibly well with the rest of the ingredients. We also shared a mortabella sandwich which consisted of mortadella, pistachio cream, burrata, tomato and lettuce. The mortabella was good but the house special is definitely the sandwich to order! Priced at around $16 each, the portions of the sandwiches are hefty with ingredients packed inside. The ingredients itself speak for themself as they are fresh and top notch! Service was quick and efficient but friendly. Overall, a great spot for take out sandwiches and other specialty grocery store items. They also have a large selection of deli meats and cheeses as well. Definitely want to return to try the rest of their other sandwich options in the future!
