Do not see Dr. Henderson if you care about your pet…read more Our cat Milo was having seizures suddenly over the last 12 hours so we decided to take him to the vet. He was an overweight cat and the cause of the seizures was not diagnosed. After simply taking blood work and giving less than 20 min of an IV fluid, they stuffed him back in the cage and sent us on our way with a prescription for phenobarbital. No instructions other than how to give the cat the medicine, no goodbye, no thank you, and no advice on what to do if the seizures persisted. We administered the half a pill like we were told to do and he had another seizure 10 minutes later. We called the office to get advice and they basically said nothing. We left Milo to go get some yogurt to help him with his dosages for about 3 hours and when we got back he was dead on the floor under the bed. When we called back and told them our cat died they were completely unsympathetic, indifferent, and when Dr. H finally called back, said she "had never seen anything like this in 40 years. Why didn't they keep him until the blood work was complete, or load him with a higher dosage of the medication because he was a larger cat to prevent the seizures before they became fatal?! He was only 2 years old and if they were more specific about how much of a dosage we should have given him initially to get his treatment under way, or if they had given him some medication and enough of it to match his weight before we left the clinic, milo would still be with us today... TLDR: Dr Henderson doesn't care about your animals and if they die, Too bad, she doesn't know why and didn't care anyway. 40 years of veterinary practice for nothing!

While she was being admitted I explained that I wanted her to please go early because she is a rescue and she has separation anxiety, we do not crate her and that she is very hyper. While we are talking Izzy is pacing back and forth, panting and jumping up and down proving exactly what I was saying. The tech asked if this was our first visit there we replied yes and he assured us not to worry because they take very good care of new patients. I left there feeling good. This was around 7:15 AM. At around 1:00 PM I called to see how Izzy was doing. I was told she hadn't been taken back yet. The same vet tech who told us not to worry is now saying he never said it. So that is the first time they called us liars. They didn't do her until last. I was literally shaking I was so upset that not only did they ignore my request they did the exact opposite of what we did ask. Izzy had been in a crate for over 5 hours drugged. I am the fist to own I was angry. And I was loud. I was assured that Izzy had not been left alone but that does not negate the fact that she was drugged in a crate for 5 hours. Awhile later we get a call from the owner. Much to our surprise instead of an apology we were told that unless we trusted her to do the work she was not going to do the dental which by the way turned into oral surgery. This woman is a complete stranger never met her and still haven't and we need to have trust in her? I said Izzy needs this procedure and after all she has been through it would be very cruel to not continue this procedure at this point. She just kept going on and on. At that point I have no idea what she was saying because I left the room. My husband continued to talk to her he told her once again what the vet tech told us and she said there were two people in that room. No there were 4 people in that room and you weren't one of them. So this was the second time they called us liars. Finally she agreed to do the procedure. Izzy ended up having an abscessed tooth that was really bad and she ended up being in surgery for 3 hours. We picked her up at 7:30PM. Over 12 hours to do a dental. The next day I get a survey in the mail. I respond to that survey simply with You're kidding right? Later that day I go to order Izzy some Bravecto and I get a response that they have terminated the relationship. I got on the phone and called them to ask if they really were not going to do her aftercare to which I was told they would call me back. The Office Manager called back. I have a signature on my email that I have been using for 10 plus years that says Sarcasm - because beating the crap out of people is illegal. Clearly a joke. Once again she wouldn't believe us. She actually told my husband that she is sure he wants to protect his wife at which point I took the phone. Third time they accused us of lying. Well they were convinced that I had added that to my email just for them. If it wasn't so insane it would have been comical. While I was talking to the office manager she said that their only other recourse other than terminating my relationship was to and I quote "pull a warrant" Are you kidding me? You are going to pull a warrant because I have a signature on my email account that you don't like. Wouldn't they have looked stupid when the police showed up and I showed them 1,000 other emails with the same thing. Anyway the Office Manager responded that I shouldn't be sending that to a professional office. To which I SO wanted to reply "I didn't". But I held my tongue because my dog needed the care. They did agree that they would do the after care and then decide if they would continue the relationship. Like I would EVER go back there. What a joke. So just so everyone is clear I am terminating the relationship since Izzy has had her aftercare appointment. It really is a shame because we loved the staff and Doctor at Canterbury Tails. I am a firm believer that people who continually accuse people of being liars are people who lie! I wish I had read some reviews before ever walking in the door. Seems like this is common practice in this office.

Upon check-in, they were able to see Artichoke within two minutes of us getting there. They did his vitals in back and then moved my boyfriend and I from the waiting area/lobby to a separate room where the vet could speak with us. The vet was kind when speaking with us, and even when discussing the potential worst outcomes of what needed to happen, she spoke calmly which definitely helped us both with our nerves. The clinic offered a few different options of how they could remove the item and what payments would look like. They also offer payment plans for those who may need one. In total, we arrived around 10:40P and were out by midnight. Pretty quick turn around and honestly, the price wasn't that bad either. Our cat was a little stubborn so they had to double dose him with the steroid to induce his vomiting, but even with that and the walk-in emergency vet fee, it was all under $300. While I hope that we will never need to come back here, they will always be my first call should we need it!

I have had to wait days or be told to go to the emergency care facilities so many times in the past by other vets that I was thrilled that they would see her a few hours after I called. The team was welcoming and knowledgeable. My cat was assessed and had surgery to remove an ear polyp during the same visit. She was home three hours later and comfortable. I am incredibly grateful to the Dr. for accommodating my cats needs the same day. The price I was quoted remained the same even though the surgery was more complicated than expected. We were rushed in, immediately asked to get on a scale and brought right into the exam room. He was scared, shaking and crying/whining. The staff did not seem to provide emotional support (pets, sniffs, patience or inviting voices) . I suggested they give him a treat(that I brought) to make him feel more comfortable in a new space with new faces. He growled when his ears and belly were touched but she was able to look at his teeth without any growling. They then put a muzzle on to attempt to get blood. They were unable to get blood and Dr. Lorenzo labeled him as an "aggressive" dog and was surprised "Massachusetts let an aggressive rescue dog in". I will not be returning here for the sake of mine and my dog's emotional well being.
