I totally missed the "order here" sign but a person in the cashier line pointed me to it. There I got a hot dog with chili, mustard, and slaw. The woman at the cashier was very friendly and kind. I'm guessing she was the manager. The hot dog was ready by the time I got to the front of the line. Speedy service. I sat down at one of the nice wooden tables they have inside. The hot dog was...just ok. I'm a big fan of cole slaw and this dog just had a dollop on it and was pretty light on mustard. I wouldn't mind that as much except that I didn't love the chili taste. I can't put my finger on it, but the flavor was just not what I love. This place is super cute and clearly a local institution. I'd recommend other folks go by and try it.

That said, I had a small issue with them refusing to refund a defective piece of merchandise I was sold but ended up getting satisfaction from dealing with the general manager. The interaction was positive enough for them to retain my business. I've come back and upgraded my rating as a result. Beyond that, the store is pretty standard. I find the clerks to generally be pleasant to deal with, though. You can usually find cheaper gas in Clayton, but it's not a bad station if you're close by and need a fill-up.

I have experienced a problem 3 or 4 times within the last year or so. I went by on my way to work this morning to put gas in my car; when I inserted my credit card into the slot, the dialog window stayed stuck on 'authorizing'. I went inside and was told that the credit card slots were not working; they could not even scan my credit card at the register, nor take cash, inside the store because nothing was working. I have never experienced this type of problem at any other gas station or convenience store. Does anyone know what the issue may be? The cashier was alone in the store, so she was not in a position to leave her station to do anything about the situation. There was no notification on the pump stating that there was a problem. Also, up until about a year ago, they could not seem to replace receipt rolls at the gas pump, so when I needed a receipt, guess what? I couldn't get one at the pump. Being pressed for time, rather than go into the store for a receipt, I made a brief notation in my iPhone for verification until my credit card statement was available online. Has anyone else experienced problems with this station?
