Pepp'rmint stick is an old-school soda-fountain type place. Not quite as good as I remember from 30 years ago, but still a good solid burger, fries, and malt. They have a pretty diverse menu, almost sure to please everyone in the family. The service was great and I will certainly return next time I am in the area. I believe what made them so special to me 30 years ago was the ketchup of all things. It had a unique flavor to it. Now it seems to be the standard fare ketchup. read more

Waited for 30 minutes for my food, after ordering they had us pull up and park in front of the grass. They just give food to the 2 cars behind us and didn't check to see if any other cars were waiting for there food. We were NEXT to the cars that ordered after us. Got out of our car and went up to the window to be told they we're closed at 9pm. I explained we hadn't gotten our food yet. The guy said oh there is a bag here we didn't know you were still waiting. Only car in front of the grassy area left and a lone bag sitting on the counter. Ummm let me just guess if that bag belongs to that car. Once we got the bag it looked like 3 burgers instead of 2 hot dogs and 1 burger. We then drove to the window to say we got the wrong order. The guy opens the bag and pulls out the hotdogs and told us these are the dogs they come on hamburger buns! Ok how are we to know since this was our first visit! Then he asked if we wanted them back we said if you have gloves on fine and he lifted his hand he touched them with and no glove! Did not receive the tater tots I ordered, had to have 2 burgers "remade" when we asked for no pickles or onions, one was missing cheese entirely. And instead of remaking them they simply took the pickle slices off and left the relish. And to top it all off there was a hair found in one of the burgers. read more

I grew up in the Yakima Valley and have now resided in the Puget Sound area for about the same amount of years and I can easily tell you that this place out of all burger joints in Washington has the most delicious burgers for the dollar and I'm comparing that to everything from Jack In The Box to John Howie's...oh yeah, I went there! Customer Service: It's blue collar, obviously family run, non hipster-hate-my-job staff. True story, I ordered their Ghost (pepper) burger and it was so hot and delicious, I kept eating it until I was sweating and in tears (so good) that I somehow managed to painfully ask if I can buy an ice cream. I was in so much pain, I 'relished' the ice cream and forgot to pay up front. I realized it, made it right and the women at the counter said she saw me in so much pain from the spice that she figured she'd ask later. Drive Thru: It's very literal. I think you literally drive up to the window and order; there's no speaker or anything. It's like genuinely old school drive thru. I recommend just going in, there are a lot more 'off menu' options. Parking: Accessible, plentiful all around, clean and not sketchy. If the space is tight between the car wash and the restaurant, just park at the gravel lot adjacent to it. Simple as that. Facility: It's uber clean, like almost Twighlight Zone, do they use a toothbrush clean but not I'd eat off the floor clean (who does that?). Outside and inside including the food prep area since it's so small, the place is cleaner than any restaurant in this state I've ever been to. It's like they take pride in the place! Food: You've been waiting for this review, and I've tried every burger on the menu and they all come out the same; delicious and not dry! Fries in any and every style they offer are awesome. Seriously, try the 'off-menu blackboard' burgers if you love spice because their hottest burger when I went involved habeneros, ghost and possibly Carolina reaper peppers...and admittedly I loved it and cried. Was the easiest but most painful relationship you can have with something you love...and trust me, you'll feel the pain in the morning! Ice cream cones, the milk shakes, the onion rings, blah, blah, blah, you just cannot go wrong. Why go? I'm serious when I say this, I've gone and maybe you've heard that IN-N-OUT burgers are one of the best/really good, like a 9/10 but this place is a 12/10 including the food. Kids loved the peppermint ice cream we loved the old school vibe. Had already smashed lunch otherwise the burgers looked great.

Showed up there to get food at 7pm, sat there until 7:40 and still none help us. None even greeted us, told us that they were behind and it was going to be a few minutes. I work as a barista, so I know when your behind it's stressful but make sure you let the customers know that you will be right with them. Never going there again, just rude service! read more

Quiet honestly the worst burger experience I've ever had. They mixed up the two burgers so the one that should have had everything did not and the one that should have had no sauce and no bacon did. One very wilted sorry piece of tomato and a dry over cooked patty on each burger. Even McDonalds crappy burgers are better than this. Also the men's toilet is locked so everyone has to use the ladies which has no lock on the door so if you are a woman you had better have someone stand outside the door to stop someone else barging in. I was really not impressed. The milkshakes are pretty good. The service was decent, and quick. I ordered a burger, it had lots of fresh toppings, and was pretty good aside from the fact that the patty was clearly pre-frozen, and overcooked, tasted rubbery to me. I ordered their new sweet potato fries, and they were not cooked right at all; many were burnt, and some were underdone. Second time I have been there.. Ok service.. I had a ordered burger and fries.. I thought they were kind of skimpy on the fries and they did not give me the fry sauce I ordered.. If I can make a suggestion... It would be be nice if you had some condiments on the counters for your customers.. My boyfriend had to go back in line to ask for the fry sauce . After years of making Union Gap a "restroom stop" for years and after noticing the sign about a restaurant at the forthcoming exit, I finally stopped at Pepp'rmint Stick Drive-In. It's not a chain so do expect to wait when it's busy. I tried a Jamaican burger, as I wasn't sure what would make it Jamaican but they used/make a Jamaicans relish. The burger was not too bad. The fries were really good, especially with their fry sauce. I normally don't have a treat after a meal but it was my birthday, I chose to have a peppermint ice cream cone. I felt the ice cream was better than the burger. Due to the customer service, I would return. I went into the place but there were two drive-thru windows so enough time to order. The parking space was plentiful. Not sure when I'll make it to Union Gap again but I finally know what their food tastes like and I look forward to have something else. read more

This place was good, the food was fresh and made to order. I had the garlic fries and a double cheeseburger. The fries weren't anything to write home about for the significant amount extra they cost but the burger was great. Overall this place is pretty expensive and the lack of prices on the menu is frustrating because you have no idea what something is going to cost until you order. We have been coming to Peppermint Stick for years and the last three times we have been there, we have been very disappointed. Our family decided tonight was the last times will get food from there. The service used to be really quick. Tonight it took 25 minutes and they were not even busy. The work crew all just standing around and zero customer service. I was very disappointed with my recent visit here. Their outdoor menu doesn't have prices listed. I ordered two JUNIOR cheeseburger combo meals with medium shakes and the total was right under $25! I never would have guessed they would charge $8.50 for a JUNIOR cheeseburger meal and then charge me an additional 70 cent for cheese. I understand a milkshake upgrade charge. I figured it wouldn't be more than $15, $18 tops. The food was mediocre. Definitely not worth $25 in my opinion. read more

Went there today after spending the weekend in the woods ask the young lady what special was and she told me it was the jamaican burger when asked what was on it all she could tell me was it has peppers and a jamaican relish. Then asked what was on the ghost burger and all she told me was jalapenos and a ghost pepper aeloi. I can stand heat but you can barely take one bite out of the burger and your mouth is on fire. And all honesty wasnt the greatest flavor. When asked about other menu items her nor the cashier couldn't answer my questions fully.
