Wow. The best pizza in Paris? Read to find out if that was our experience
A friend of mine who lives in Paris, told me about Peppe Martyrs and said that if I had the chance to visit that I should.
Our week in Paris was sidetracked by a visit to the ER but thankfully my wife was well taken care of and we were able to obtain a 7pm reservation on our last night in Paris to salvage what little time we had left.
I emailed Peppe and placed the reservation and we all arrived about 15 mins early. I'm glad we did as we were able to watch the team prepare the restaurant and have a team meeting outside of Peppe's.
We were first in the line with reservations and there was a second line for those without reservations.
NOTE: The Peppe Team are very organized and professional to a level I haven't experienced in quite some time.
We verified our reservation and we were led to our table. At this point, we became aware to the fact that the Peppe team had already planned the table configuration based upon the received and accepted reservations. Seating was organized and efficient.
NOTE: Every member of the team except those who were crafting the pizzas stopped by our table to greet and talk to us.
We placed our drink order as well as an appetizer and then our pizza order.
There was such a clockwork harmony in Peppe with the team and it was something to be in awe of. As an operator of many restaurants, I know exactly what that feels like and how rare it can be.
I applaud the staff for creating such an amazing dynamic that is so evident.
My Bruschetta with mushrooms and truffles was tasty, packed with goodness and a lot of favors from the truffles.
I really liked that there was a pause between the Bruschetta and our pizzas.
My Mom othered the Regina and I ordered the Formaggi E Miele
The pizzas smelled so good and looked spectacular.
We were not alone, everyone in Peppe had the same enthusiastic grin upon receiving their pizza.
NOTE: Every customer was using their fork and knife with their pizza. If you're not comfortable doing so, use your hands but you may have wandering eyes watching you.
I ate every morsel of my pizza. The cheese, walnuts, honey and garlic was in perfect balance. My mother's pizza had delightful notes of the ingredients.
I wasn't alone. My mother finished hers and mostly everyone did as wells.
NOTE: For my carb counting friends. Bread in Europe is infinitely better for you and your health. I can't explain it other than all of us ate all of the pizzas and didn't feel bloated and exhausted.
Yes. Peppe Martyrs is the best pizza in Paris and if you can get a reservation or be lucky enough to attend dinner, do it. It's a must.
I'm looking forward to returning to have the Margherita and I am not sharing. read more
