I hadn't been there in like 20 years but it was just like yesterday. The food was just as good as I remember it and I was so happy to be able to enjoy it again. The flavors the service the atmosphere was all the same as I remember it being. I am so happy to see some of the best things still around to enjoy! read more

Pepos Cuban food is such a great little spot, especially when you need a quick, reliable dinner for the family and don't feel like cooking. It's super convenient to just drop in, grab what you need, and be out the door... easy, fast, and always hits the spot. And if you know, you know... you can even order a fresh made-to-order palomilla steak sandwich (I'm calling it the secret menu). It's so good and honestly worth the stop just for that. Perfect for takeout nights when you want something comforting, flavorful, and way better than the usual last-minute options. Definitely a repeat place for us. read more

One of my favorite go to spots. They always have fresh made food. My boyfriend loves the Cubans they make. The ladies that work the counter are always friendly and nice. The restaurant has seating if you like to do so. Very casual. We usually just take out though. read more

I am in love with the Cuban sandwich's. I would purchase at least 5-8 of them at a time. The staff is friendly charming and always pleased on visiting. Family and I spent time eating at the tables for breakfast. Pleased on the morning brewed coffee whipped creamed to perfection, some cheesy bread, eggs (any style) and staff working hard. Surrounding development is a bit Confusing on approach to park. read more

Used to be good. Now they are short staffed with really long wait times.. also, not really the most attentive when it comes to greeting customers or filling an order. Now they are twice as expensive and they have half the staff members that they did just a few years ago. They forgot to ring me up when I got my food. There seemed to be a lack of self-awareness with the staff members regarding attentiveness and Service. I don't think I will be back for a while, and I have been a long time customer but this location has gone downhill. read more

I have been here quite a few times in the past as Mom's doctor was nearby. It would appear that time has not been too kind. The selection and food quality has taken a hit. What is good is their Medianoche, a smaller version of the Cuban Sandwhich on egg bread. The cuban and their roast pork are 2 more items they excel at. The rest is touch and go. For the most part just average. The Medianoche is worth the visit. My rice and beans today were way too soupy and the main course was not good, mostly due to inexpensive ingredients and also too soupy. read more

Food is delicious. Baked chicken is good as are the white and yellow rice and black and red beans. My wife likes their empanadas and sweet plantains. I had Cuban sandwich which was stuffed with meat. Portion size is two meals worth. read more

Great spot for lunch. Walk in grab your tray and get in line. Someone is there to put together your plate pretty quickly and you pay up right away. Super convenient if you're in a rush and don't have time to go to a restaurant and put in an order and wait on servers to bring orders and check. I ordered the shredded pork with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. Definitely enough food to fill you up and take some Togo. The shredded pork was delicious. My mom ordered the chicken with yellow rice and green beans. Also more than enough to take some Togo. Also got an order of ham croquettes which are always yummy. For the two meals, ham croquettes with 2 sodas are bill with 20% tip came out to $38 which is expected. Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. read more

Pepo's Cafe - Shredded pork, black beans, yellow rice and plantains - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Tampa, Florida

After trying Cool Mo's coffee, I preferred Cool Mo's bacon/egg/cheese sandwich. While Pepo's has a bigger sized sandwich, Cool Mo's had the crunchier bread and bacon. Both places had good coffee con leche. Coffee is non-refillable. Place is busy for breakfast. Doesn't have napkins on each table. I didn't get any table napkin with my dish. There's not much table service as our server is busy prepping the Cuban sandwiches for lunch hour. Not her fault. She was nice. has A/C, wifi. I have to try the other dishes and update my review then. read more

The service was fast and friendly even though they were busy. The price was also good and the value was good. The western omelette was good. Loved how the eggs were cooked and the green pepper and onion was sauteed and delicious it needed cheese The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was also good. The bread would have been better if it was more crunchy. The Cuban toast was Good. I only wish they served lunch all day as I really wanted to try that Cuban sandwich!! I guess I will just have to try and make it back here again before my flight back to San Diego Tomorrow morning! read more

I ordered two entrees from here through DoorDash. It's not the restaurant's fault, but my delivery was late. I ordered the pull pork with plantains, the chicken with yucca, 1 stuffed potato and 2 beef empanadas. The empanadas are on the larger side so one is great for sharing. I thought this was one of the best things from my entire order. It was flavorful, just a bit greasy. The stuffed potato was a miss. I won't be ordering this again. It lacked flavor and texture even with the stuffed meat inside. As for the entrees, while the portion of chicken was great, it looked like the pulled pork was a mere side. I was expecting more. read more

Been coming here for years. The Food quality is not the same. I don't know whether they changed cooks in the back however The Picadillo I ordered had no flavor whatsoever. It completely missed the mark. I've ordered it plenty of times here to know what is great and what is not. Maybe it was an off day. I think restaurants these days are cutting corners making Food. Just not the same... read more

Cubans ordered to go were very good. A bit of a wait. Several people in line getting orders as it was lunch rush. Staff was friendly.

Casual spot for breakfast lunch or dinner. Service was okay, could be friendlier. Delicious and fresh classic Cuban dishes and great cafe con leche. read more

The service and ambiance, there was a women with blonde hair, she was very uptight and rude. When asked how to say something in Spanish, she got upset and shrugged her shoulder high to tell me the same as all other Spanish. We love the breakfast sandwiches from PePo's. They take a little longer to make but they are oh so worth the wait!

Not good, service is terrible, food is just average, decor is cheap. Nothing here adds up to a good experience.

When in Tampa and craving a Cuban sandwich and a Devil Crab for lunch, I had to check out this long standing place. I ordered 3 Pressed Cuban Sandwiches. 2 all the way with lettuce and tomato and one without. I thought it was a little weird that the girl who was making them put all 3 in the press at the same time with the lettuce and tomato on the sandwich. Hot lettuce was a little gross. The other thing that was weird was when the sandwiches were taken out of the press, they were then reopened and wet roast pork was placed inside and then they were packed. up. There was no mustard inside so they tasted soggy with little flavor. I was not impressed and would not get a Cuban from here again. The next disappointing food item was the deviled crab. It had a nice shape but it was mostly all bread and the little spoonful of filling was not all crab meat. It was crab and bread mixed together, so really just a fried bread fritter. I was impressed by the portion size of the combo meals. The girl scooped 3 large spoonfuls of yellow rice into a styro container and then added 3 more large spoonfuls of green beans then 3 large tongefuls of roast pork on top and a spoonful of gravy. Seriously enough for 3 adult meals. Not my order but most of the people ahead of us were getting that togo. The restaurant had noone eating inside but the togo line was quite long at lunchtime. This was definitely a one and done visit for me. read more

Clean, really nice staff. Good variety of dishes . The ropa vieja was average..nothing special The congrí was just ok..beans were kind of hard. The pulled pork or pernil was kind of chewy. We were 2 latinas and one is a cook...so yes,, it wasn't as great. I'll be coming back cause maybe it was only that day. read more

I can't believe this is my first review here. We love Pepo's. It's a casual, delicious and friendly restaurant. It is set up cafeteria style with a large menu board above you. I'm giving it 5 stars for the food and service. Wow- I've tried many items and they've all been great. Our favorites are the pork and the Cuban sandwich. Lunches/dinners are very generous and takeout is great, too. The shredded pork is perfect! We like it with the Moro rice, black beans, green beans and plantains. And, their flan is delicious. Also, an order of hot, buttered pan (bread).... Yum! read more

I usually get Togo orders from here... and mainly at breakfast time. It is a total neighborhood staple and at 8am it is Jam packed with families and people having morning meetings and just lots of movement. They are super duper friendly and enjoy going there. We usually grab cafe con leche and a breakfast sandwich, either with bacon or sausage. They sandwich is amazing especially because the cheese is SOOO sweet! Talk about waking up your taste buds. I love it. The price is pretty steep at $9 for coffee & a sandwich, as compared to going out closer to Little Havana but I'll pay for the convenience. It's a good cup of cafe con leche and pan with some meat to get me through to lunch time. read more

Stopped by for lunch today. We have not been in awhile. The staff were not very friendly. The food we had the Spanish bean soup was not hot. The Cuban had heavy Mayo and brown lettuce. My husband had voliche with green beans and rice. it was tasty but not hot it was like it had been left out and slightly warmer than room temperature. We were there at lunch around 1130. We did notice the staff very friendly with Spanish speaking customers but not with white non Spanish speaking like us. Would not go back to eat food that's barely warm sitting out in the hot warmers that obviously wasn't working. read more

Your lunch deal was great 4.95 and 5.95 for dark and light 1/4 chicken respectively with two sides. The chicken was good. Even Mocha, my puppy liked it lol, especially when we were sitting outside. Thanks for being so considerate. he appreciated being able to eat lunch with me. The sides were alright. I had yellow rice and yucca. Not too special for me though. There were a lot of other options but I did want to save my money. I would try it again especially since you are dog friendly. It is the typical Cuban spread with the heated table with the food in front of you like cafeteria style. It's across from Whole Foods so I kind of think it might be a bit off the beaten path. read more

Best café con leche.... period. Forget Starbucks and trust me! Here's a tip get the café con leche (coffee and milk) with sugar, they make it perfect. Then you order toast w butter and dip it in your coffee! Even something as simple as toast is delish. The Cuban sandwich is phenomenal. They are open early so it's a perfect for on your way to work. Crazy thing is I am not a coffee drinker anymore but I can't help myself with this place read more
