Been coming here 20 years, never disappointed. Also try the Oxtails when they have them, melt in your mouth!

I have been here quite a few times in the past as Mom's doctor was nearby. It would appear that time has not been too kind. The selection and food quality has taken a hit. What is good is their Medianoche, a smaller version of the Cuban Sandwhich on egg bread. The cuban and their roast pork are 2 more items they excel at. The rest is touch and go. For the most part just average. The Medianoche is worth the visit. My rice and beans today were way too soupy and the main course was not good, mostly due to inexpensive ingredients and also too soupy.

I ordered two entrees from here through DoorDash. It's not the restaurant's fault, but my delivery was late. I ordered the pull pork with plantains, the chicken with yucca, 1 stuffed potato and 2 beef empanadas. The empanadas are on the larger side so one is great for sharing. I thought this was one of the best things from my entire order. It was flavorful, just a bit greasy. The stuffed potato was a miss. I won't be ordering this again. It lacked flavor and texture even with the stuffed meat inside. As for the entrees, while the portion of chicken was great, it looked like the pulled pork was a mere side. I was expecting more.

Great spot for lunch. Walk in grab your tray and get in line. Someone is there to put together your plate pretty quickly and you pay up right away. Super convenient if you're in a rush and don't have time to go to a restaurant and put in an order and wait on servers to bring orders and check. I ordered the shredded pork with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. Definitely enough food to fill you up and take some Togo. The shredded pork was delicious. My mom ordered the chicken with yellow rice and green beans. Also more than enough to take some Togo. Also got an order of ham croquettes which are always yummy. For the two meals, ham croquettes with 2 sodas are bill with 20% tip came out to $38 which is expected. Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant.

After trying Cool Mo's coffee, I preferred Cool Mo's bacon/egg/cheese sandwich. While Pepo's has a bigger sized sandwich, Cool Mo's had the crunchier bread and bacon. Both places had good coffee con leche. Coffee is non-refillable. Place is busy for breakfast. Doesn't have napkins on each table. I didn't get any table napkin with my dish. There's not much table service as our server is busy prepping the Cuban sandwiches for lunch hour. Not her fault. She was nice. has A/C, wifi. I have to try the other dishes and update my review then.

A true gem of the entire Tampa Bay Area!…read more The service is fantastic, our server told us a little of the history of this restaurant (Babe Ruth renting out a room every time he was in town, Marilyn Monroe eating there, etc) but he was also great at making sure we were taken care of. The food, from the complimentary bread to the famous Cuban sandwich to the Tres Amigos Churros was exquisite. Every element clearly has thought put into it so that it flows together from the homemade plantain chips with the Cuban sandwich to the bread and the amount of mustard used. Nothing could improve anything that we had and I can't recommend the Cuban sandwich or the Tres Amigos highly enough! You have to try them for yourself. The prices are also quite reasonable. You definitely get your money's worth! The ambiance is absolutely stunning! You should see this if you're in town. We loved it. Kids also fit in quite nicely thanks to the way the restaurant is run, it's very friendly and not overly quiet. I can't think of any better blessing for Tampa than for this same family to continue running this restaurant for another 120 years!

Sadly, it turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've ever had. The restaurant is beautiful, full of history and stunning décor, and we were seated almost immediately. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the visit. Our menus were dropped on the table without a greeting, and for the next 25 minutes not a single server acknowledged us, even though we watched staff walk by repeatedly. We were also seated in full view of the men's restroom, with the constant sound of the door opening and toilets flushing. After being ignored for 25 minutes, I told my husband, "I guess no one is coming," and asked my nephew and grandsons if they wanted to leave. They all said yes, so we walked out disappointed, hungry, and let down. Such a beautiful, historic place deserves service that matches its reputation.

I've only had Argentinian-style milanesa before, and I can easily say I liked the Teresita style better. The marinara sauce on the milanesa brings enough acidity to cut through the grease from the fried meat -- the meat is thin and crispy, but not at all dry. The fries and yellow rice make the meal an absolute steal based on the amount of food you get. My friend had the fried fish, which looked delicious -- excited to try it myself next time. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!

The rice was fantastic, perfectly cooked and seasoned -Salmon and fries: this was really good, flavorful and cooked great. We just wish it was a little bigger for the cost. -Vanilla Flan: very good, just a bit small. -Tres Leche: stole the show! Fabulous! I would come back just for this! The texture was perfect and the flavor was flawless! It was sweet but not too sweet. Great dessert! Definitely check your food before leaving though as they did forget part of the meal. Not a big deal as the guy up front was super apologetic and friendly. That dude was great! They need more just like him. Also, not the cleanest, floors needed swept and mopped. (That definitely would have helped the experience) Overall, it was a good/okay experience, just not great.

They have four locations, and we went to the one in the Ybor City Historic District. La Segunda is an institution for Cuban bread and pastries, baking 18K loaves daily and ships nationwide via Goldbelly. Our niece's BF is Cuban, and he said buy anything with guava. In the box (see photo), we bought two each of guava flip (kind of a folded tart or empanada), guava turnover, and guava flip with cream cheese. All of them are delicious! I like the flaky guava turnovers the most even though they didn't survive the transportation across the country in my backpack as well as some of the others. Even though slightly crumbly, still yummy! I also bought butter cookies, sold by the pound. Those are relatively ordinary; I'll skip those in the future. Next time, we are carrying Cuban sandwiches home! I really wish I carried them home. I was having Cuban sandwich withdrawal. This location is older but functional; there isn't seating. Their customers know what they want, and everything moves FAST. If it's your visit (like it was for us), I suggest looking at the menu online to know what to order. The service is friendly, even though I can tell he was a bit exasperated that I didn't just yell out my order and I asked questions. I honestly don't fault him. Busy places have their own pace, and the customers are the ones to keep up. That's perfectly ok.

On this visit, I ordered soup, salad and entrées for 11 adults and 3 little kids. I called the order in 24 hours in advance and had a very nice person who took my order. I was instructed where to go upon arrival and they would bring my order to the car. That was so easy and very well done. My order was checked multiple times and everything including condiments and service utensils were included. The food was outstanding in preparation and fresh flavors. We did over order but the leftovers were just as good. Our favorites were the 1905 Salad, the Eggplant entree and of course the Picadillo, Ropa Vieja, and Chicken and Yellow rice were traditionally excellent. My wife ordered the empanadas and the half 1905 salad and I ordered the half and half......half Cuban and half 1905 salad. My wife should have added 'bring them together' but she didn't and the server didn't bother to ask so the empanadas came out and everything else came out 15 minutes later. My wife had a cocktail and the bill was $60.20. Issues to fix: 1)I ordered a Coca Cola, $4.00 and in 92 degree weather it melts in 5 minutes. We were there for an hour and not one time did she ask if I'd like a refill. 2)When she made the 1905 table side she literally 'dropped' a handful of salad ON THE FLOOR between my wife's and my seat......she kind of chuckled, gave us our salads and walked away. She literally left the SALAD ON THE FLOOR THE ENTIRE MEAL! During the course of our meal probably 20 employees walked by and never bothered to pick it up. That in itself was the epitome of laziness and complete lack of respect to the customer. Our bill was $60.20 and I tipped $12 which normally I'm a 30% tipper and I could kick myself for giving her 20%. She deserved zero. I know I will never get a response from management but do you think I will ever come back? Nyet.
