Pep Boys Review -- got a call 3 days ago...my rental was apparently begging for an oil change...mind you i'm in the army & my schedule is tighter than the jeans i wore in high school. so the next day i call back to set it up & guess what...no one answers. cool. love that. so i call the rental company & they're like "yeah girl take it to pep boys they'll help you" (lie number one) so i call pep boys & schedule for 11am. the next day i pull up 15 minutes early like the responsible adult i pretend to be. i hand over my keys & the guy hits me with "it'll be an hour & a half to two hours" ...for an oil change...i've never had an oil change take longer than a tiktok recipe but okay fine. i tell him i'm gonna run to the store for groceries & he's like yeah go ahead so i take my time. i stroll. i browse. i compare cereal brands like i'm solving a mystery. i take a whole hour & 45 mins thinking surely my truck is done by now i pull back up to pep boys & my truck is still sitting in the exact same parking spot...untouched...collecting dust...probably wondering if i abandoned it. i walk inside & the guy looks at me all casual like "okay i just got it approved so i wasn't able to start working on it yet" ...approved for WHAT...why did it take 2 hours...did the president need to sign off on this oil change i just stare at him then stare at my friend then stare back at him like i'm in the office waiting for the camera zoom. then he goes "it'll be about another hour" ...another hour...so now we're at a 3 hour oil change. 3. hours. and then while i'm standing there contemplating my life choices i hear another customer complaining about how slow they are. so at that point i knew it wasn't personal...it was just pep boys being pep boys 1 star. if i could give it 0 i would. read more

Ok placed a note on this page 8 months ago. Pep boys asked me to reach out to them again and I did. No resolution no response about stripping my oil pan fixing it. Left oil on my driveway after not telling me they stripped it. Had my car for 3 weeks after they stripped it. Talked to store manager, tried to get a response from district manager, regional manager. Called corporate. They were kind enough to rent me a car that they were to pay for and never did. Yes I will and did reach out to you and your bosses. Still dirtbags.thanks Juan store manager. My car had been without AC for 6 months. I came to these guys for help! I am a full time college student/business owner and recently received a scholarship that I could use for car repairs. So I decided to use it to get my car AC ready for summer. They quoted me $460 at first. Then I told them that was too much I didn't have that much and please only the bare necessities to get it running. They were trying to sell me parts I didn't need. Then it turned out the total was $327. Ok affordable. I told Christian at the front, get it summer ready. Agreed to let them do the services and then test it, and fill it with coolant for the AC. I received the notification it was ready for pickup. Went and paid the total and left. I live in the foothills. My car never once cooled down. I got home @6:15, called pep boys, no answer. Waited until 8am called again, no answer. Called again @8:15am no answer. Sent my husband down there to get it looked at. They wanted to charge us another $460 on top of what we already spent! Couldn't explain why we needed the parts. Jose could only say that our factory installed compressor was not installed correctly....? What?? These guys became combative and threatened to call police on my husband. Told us to go elsewhere. When I called Jose to find out where we were he was combative with me, treated me like I was stupid and spoke over me every time I started speaking. Totally unprofessional and rude. I have never been treated so poorly from another person in that situation. Like I said, I came to them for help and was pretty desperate to get this fixed. Now I am back where I started and used my scholarship money. It's getting really hot in Yuma right now. Shame on them, I am so disappointed. I will tell everyone not to go there. Side note-the hallway to the bathrooms were disgusting. The women's bathroom had the toilet seat up and there was urine and feces all over the toilet. It looked like it had been a while since it had a proper cleaning. I should've left when I saw the bathroom. Red flag. Women BEWARE! read more

This place is the biggest rip off, they are preying on the elderly. We paid 3000.00 for a brand new air conditioner. We took the car back 4 times, while under warranty. Well we took in in again yesterday, they want 300.00 bucks to do all the stuff they didn't do while it was under warranty. Still haven't fixed it, but they will give us a free evaluation. Why the heck didn't they do the evaluation with the dye before the warranty ran out. Before that we paid 700.00 twice before they said it needed a new A/C. Don't go here. I went in with a coupon for brakes and they immediately tell you it's for labor only not the actual cost of that service. A person came in when I was there for an appointment and was told the same and just left, I should have followed him. They know the ad is misleading. My truck was on the lift for 5 hours (no one seems to use them so they didn't need the lift) for front bake pads and a brake fluid flush. They charged $200 over estimate to replace a bleeder nipple. There's a reason why the have appointments available all day, it's that they 're that bad. read more

But because it's a special order tire many places did not have it in stock, and with an upcoming Holiday itd take too long to arrive, especially on a Friday night. However! Not only did Pep Boys have one in stock, they also installed it as well. I mean, yes please and thank you! A definite shot in the dark that really hit its mark. With a decent waiting area and a well stocked store, it was definitely worth a 5 - star rating....and my vote of "worth considering." I arrived to Pep Boys in Yuma from Phoenix because my tire kept losing air. I had already tried to fill it with air but within 6 exits I was driving at 22 psi again and still losing air. I was heading home to San Diego with my daughter. I explained to the worker at Pep Boys about my issue and how I feared that I would get stuck between the mountains where I don't get signal for a good 20-30 min. It was 4:15pm on Sunday, (Pep Boys closed at 6pm). He refused to service me saying that they were full. I asked if he knew of a place that could help me and he suggested one place that was closed and then suggested I try to make it to El Centro! I then asked if he could at least put air in my tire to help me get around and find help. He said yes I could drive to the back and they will get me air. The mechanic that helped me was surprised that the worker said he couldn't help me. Don't know what that is worth but it surely didn't seem packed to me. Not knowing what to do and not wanting to take a chance, I called my boss and told her I had to spend the night in Yuma and would get in as soon as possible. I went back into Pep Boys and told the guy that I needed an appointment for the first thing in the morning so I can try to get on the road and get to work. He said ok. But those early spots are probably already taken so I don't know what will happen. Thankfully, I decided to try one more place. I suggest you bypass Pep Boys and go straight to Walmart. I arrived at 5:05pm. They had two people ahead of me for tire repair but they got me out the door by 5:40pm. I needed a patch and it only cost $15! When I first asked the guy at Walmart if they could help me, he said, "No worries. The worst that may happen is that we can't patch it so you may need a new tire. If we don't have your size tire in stock we may not be able to finish the job tonight. Other than that, we will get you and your daughter safely back on the road!" I've never gone to Walmart for car repairs but I will say, I won't ever think about Pep Boys for help. read more

The most horrific experience I've had at any auto shop. Do not go here unless you want to be ripped off and please read this entire review. They are dishonest and take advantage of people that don't know anything about cars. They tried to charge me $225 just for a thermometer and tried to charge me $1700 and after bringing up that the parts they were charging me as they were way too expensive for what they were after speaking to a family member, they changed the price to $1000. I live in the east valley in Phoenix and had to have someone pick me up and go back to Yuma 3.5 hour drive. My hours of work are their hours of operation so I had a hard time finding any times to go out and get my car. I asked if they could put my keys accessible under my bumper or in my key cap and they said no even with my circumstances. One day I was about to go out to get my car and called and said I'd get there a little bit after they close, they said that's okay. I had a family medical emergency, wasn't able to make it out there. My boyfriend called them the next day and told them there was a medical emergency and we will make it out Saturday, they said that's okay. On a Saturday 9/11/2021, I drove 3.5 hours to get to the shop and arrived at 5:58 PM, they close at 6. Two employees were outside. We told them we are there to pick up my car and they said "Sorry, we are closed. You should have called before" I told them it says on their website they close at 6 and they told me that they close up early if there's nothing left to do. I explained my situation, that I just drove 3.5 hours to get my car and that I can never find time to make it out to Yuma. One employee said "Aren't you the girl that said you were going to come and didn't show up?" He said this knowing we called him and explained about the family medical emergency . The employee lied to me and told me that he has no ability to open the store repeatedly. We pleaded and he showed no empathy and said "We open tomorrow at 9". I asked if a manager was available and he said the manager can't open anything either. 5 minutes later we are about to leave and he knocks on our window. He said he spoke to his manager and the manager said to open the shop. We paid and left. I can't describe how dishonest, shady, and completely awful this shop is. Please go literally anywhere else in Yuma if your car happens to break down there. The employees have no empathy or customer service and WILL try to take advantage of you if you know nothing about cars. Save yourself the headache and the money. read more

I took my mother's 2003 Suburban for an oil change July 5. I requested that they look at all filters and replace the windshield wipers. After 2.5 hours, I was notified the rear shocks were leaking and needed replacement. The quoted $200 was now $720. I discussed with my family and approved the repair. After another 2.5 hours the shocks ordered were the wrong ones and the cost was now $2,300. My family and I went to Pep Boys and asked to see the leaking shocks. We all trooped out to the bay. We examined the shocks. The mechanic then stated they weren't leaking NOW, they were ABOUT to start leaking. I take being lied to very poorly. I paid the $200 bill and removed my vehicle (wipers NOT replaced). I will never go back to Pep Boys. I would suggest no one take their business to a place with such predatory practices. read more

Distructive and dishonest On March 3rd 2020 I went in to Pepboys located in Yuma AZ, I met with the store manager , I informed him I was looked to replace the tires on my car, after reviewing the options, I agreed on a set of tires, I gave the manager my keys and waited, during the installation of the tires I watched the tire tech replacing my tires, the kid who was first working on my car was struggling and went and to another tech who came over and started helping him, both boys grabbed pry bars and were having a tuff time prying to tires onto my wheels.. I commented to the Manager that it appears they were struggling with the tires, the manger assured me everything would work out, my thinking was ok... they are professional and they install tires every day, I stopped watching at that point as it was just making me question everything, once my car was done I paid for the tires, afterwards I noticed the tires techs had put gouges and scratches on all of my chrome wheels with the pry bars they were using, I informed Louis of the damage and he called the tire boys out to review the damage, the kid who was struggling and needed help tried to tell me my aluminum chrome wheels were rusting and denied he did the damage, as he pointed out the dirt from his hands and tires, I pointed out I watched them using pry bars on my wheels, which they responded they have a protective cover to prevent damage, I responded with I don't believe the bars had any protective cover, the manager offered to show me the bars and I agreed, his face fell as he knew there was no protective cover. He then informed me he would file a damage claim, and I would hear from someone in 24 to 48hours, after 3 days I starting calling again, I spoke with the service mangers boss, who again informed me he would file a claim and someone would be in touch, again I waited a week, when I didn't receive any communication I called again, I was given a claim number and phone number, I called and left multiple messages asking for them to return my call, on March 24th I was final able to a woman who was responsible for handling my claim, she informed me the store denied any wrong doing, but she would speak to her supervisor and he would call me back, March 25, 2020 the woman sent me an email saying she has reviewed the claim and is denying it, I gave Pepboys and the manger my trust when I handed him my keys, and I understand accidents/ mistakes happen, but to completely lie about what they did and try to cover up the mistakes is completely unacceptable, I was first thinking this was just the team at the Yuma store but I now believe the behaver is taught and accepted by the district manager and corporate office. read more

I called prior to going to the shop to confirm they could get me in to check my brakes. They said they could check them right away and if they needed new brakes then it would be 2 to 3 hours. Dropped the truck off and waited for almost 2 hours and they never touched the truck. I stayed at the shop as I was told they'd check them right away and if I didn't need new brakes I could leave right away. After the 2 hours I asked for my vehicle back because they still haven't touched it to see if I needed new brakes. The customer service rep at the front desk didn't even care to apologize or give a reason. Just handed the keys to me and went back to looking at his computer. As I walked by all the cars bays, just saw employees standing around and only 2 cars total in bays. However, when I first arrived there were 6 cars being worked on. Never been to pep boys and decided to give it a try. Now I know to never give them a chance again. read more

I'm so incredibly grateful for Louie and Jason at the Yuma Pep Boys location! We had a tire blowout on the highway while driving home from California. We called this store location on a Sunday afternoon and Louie was able to help us identify the tire that blew, make sure they had a suitable replacement in the store, and set it aside for us while we waited for a tow. When we got there late on Sunday they were still very busy with other customers and somehow managed to get our tire replaced and get us back on the road as the store was closing. They saved us all lost days of work, paying for a hotel overnight, and countless headaches by being so kind and helpful when they didn't necessarily have to be. This store, Louie and Jason in particular, is exceptional at taking care of customers. read more

If it were possible to give negative stars I would. Worst Pep Boys I've ever been to. I was in a major rush w/ tire issues, set an apt 2 hours prior, showed up early, was assured it'd take about a half hour, 1 hour and 5 mins later they slowly returned the car. We took off, got to the freeway, & the car was shaking like crazy. When I returned they got in my face yelling at me disrespecting me in front of other customers. Jesus was the man I worked with who did nothing to help expedite the process, but believe it or not, it was the manager Joseph who got in my face yelling. I'm a customer who got poor customer service & you yell at me. The manager does not know how to take responsibility for an issue or provide customer service. HANDS DOWN THE WORST AUTO SHOP I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I made a Yelp account just to make sure everybody knows that this place is VERY unprofessional, not military friendly at all, they will take advantage of you. When I came to them they told me it would cost a certain amount but later they raised my price and told me that labor was going to cost more than was originally briefed which at the time, I said was okay. I said I was in the military and I needed an alignment and camber bolts installed in my Suzuki. They called me later and told me I needed my wheel bearing replaced, so I said ok. During this conversation they assured me that it would be done by the end of the day, which was not a problem. About an hour before they closed, I called to see where they were at with my repairs but I got no answer. I called 7 times and still got no answer. The next day I called again and now they tell me that they HAVENT EVEN STARTED working on my car. This was a major issue as I am only visiting Yuma and live in CA and needed my car to drive back home as I have no other transportation. David told me they were waiting on a part to get delivered from Autozone when I showed up later that day to get my car out of there. They NEVER told me over the phone they were waiting on the part, didn't even call to tell me it would take longer than a day or answer when I called them. Very poor communication and customer service. When I tried to confront these very unprofessional people they started yelling at me and got extremely defensive in the store. They told me it would cost $150 for the wheel bearing which I later bought for $30 at Autozone after I left. Please go literally anywhere else in Yuma, or even the state of Arizona for that matter. Terrible. Went in to get my radiator fixed, and it was leaking the next day. Claimed they did a pressure check to test things out, but clearly they either didn't or did a horrible job. Can't recommend this to anyone unless you're just looking to blow hundreds of dollars only to be stuck in the same situation. Customer service took an hour and a half to tell me I'm screwed. BEWARE: Just to start it off we were quoted for our car $1100 to fix, they wanted to sell us a part for $980 and we went somewhere else and got the part for $380. So you can already see they're trying to sell us an over priced part. We bring the part and we ask how much the labor for putting it in is going to be and originally when we were first quoted they said $100 and then when we went the second time another man helped us and said $580 so we were mad because the prices jumped. Not only are we trying to get our car fixed because it's our only car the man didn't want to help us get a ride home since we got one their, he was super rude when helping. So he has someone else come talk to us and two men come from the back with ice cream in their hand as he's talking to us about how much it's really going to be. On top of that their manager would tell us somebody else will help you and I couldn't understand why he couldn't help us when he wasn't doing anything. They just lack the customer service & and they lie about pricing. So i'd say make sure you just google things before they fix it because they might try to over charge you for a part that you can get on autozone for cheaper and then take it to them so they can fix your car, but even then they like to play games about money and i'm not about it. read more

They are the absolute worst group of "service providers" imaginable. They installed a faulty water pump, went back and had to have it replaced, it leaked. They said there was a crack in the plate where the pump meets engine, took 6 days the figure out that the gasket was the problem and that there was no crack in the plate. I had gasket replace by them. Month later heard clicking noise and was told by them it was the tensioner, but the tensioner was replaced already, then they would have to order the water pump pulley part. They said it would be ok to drive but the clicking would be heard. Drove car less than 3 miles when belts slipped off, power steering ceased and water poured from under car. Towed car to the shop to show that the water pump pulley was destroyed. They said they would have to order the part and should arrive the next day. I personally got the part from an auto parts store and brought it to them @ 9:30 in the morning, asked how long it would take to put it on and they said not long maybe an hour, at 3:30 in the afternoon I called to see if car was ready...at first they said it looks like they were waiting for a part. I told them I brought the part in at 9:30am, then they said "Oh the mechanic assigned to the repair doesn't work today". I said don't you think someone should have said that this morning. The fellas in the Pep Boys are professional, knowledgeable, and fast in getting you the right products and services for your vehicle. Again, coming from Los Angeles County, CA, and remembering how horrible the wait times and services in most LA County Pep Boys are, I was dreading coming to the Yuma Pep Boys. But after my vehicle's AC going out, among other parts of my vehicle needing service, I paid them a visit. I am not going to cover all the work that my vehicle needed, for lack of saving some time, but let me tell you that my vehicle needed MAJOR WORK done. Well, again, if I were in LA, I could best bet anyone that this major service done would of taken at least a week for them to complete, but the Pep Boys in Yuma had my vehicle fully complete and running like a charm in two business days! These guys are amazingly quick and efficient! Since I was going to be out of a vehicle for the time of service, the front desk person connected me with Enterprise, which is about a few miles away, and I was able to get a rental for the time being. They even picked me up and dropped me off at the Pep Boys too! I don't know about you, but when I get this type of professional, clean, and quick service, I definitely keep going back! I would definitely recommend the Yuma Pep Boys to anyone and everyone needing vehicle service. read more

Been there on last January. Everyone (Raoul Magana, Jesus, ...) were very cordial, but I felt like it was to take advantage of being a tourist passing by. The problem was simple to diagnose (catalytic converter jammed), but they kept my vehicle for 3 days and charged me over $250 (including a 10% discount) to finally refer me to another garage in order to change it (which garage charged me another $345) because Pep Boys do not do that kind of work. Raul and his crew were very helpful and quick. A plastic panel under my car started to come off between El Centro and Yuma. I took the car in, and found out the panel was too far gone to be reattached. They removed it, wrapped it up, and put it in the trunk, before sending me on my way quickly and efficiently. And this was done for free! And to top it off, as we got into our car, a passing Pep Boy tech wished us a good day. Their friendliness was a great way to cool off on a really hot day (108F). I was in Yuma for a short stay, just a quick getaway to relax but on my drive into Yuma my brakes started shaking through the hills and I knew there was no way I could drive back home with them in that condition so I spent one of my days that I thought I would be relaxing trying to find a place to get my brakes checked. It was a Saturday and alot of the places I checked on Yelp were closed on the weekends so I gave Pep Boys a call, told them my situation and Raul said they were busy but to bring it in and they would get it back to me that evening. I drove in and was met by friendly staff including Raul. I left my vehicle and uber'd back to my hotel, soon after I got a call to let me know the damage $$ and after giving the okay he said they would call me back when it was complete. A few hours later they called and headed back to pick up my car. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and really made this unexpected situation a smooth transaction. read more
