The customer service at this location is amazing! Jon and Kristie were just awesome! I got new tires and brakes and a wheel alignment not only were they fast and friendly they went above and beyond and stayed open an extra 20min. So I could pick up my car the same day. I have a 2018 Kia. My son has a 63 Nova and was having a hard time finding a tire shop that could do his alignment. After trying I think 4 other shops he was able to get his alignment done here at Pep boys in Yucaipa that was about 4 months ago and the tires are wearing well and no pulling they do great work here I highly recommend!!!! read more

This is one of the few mechanic shops I've been to n in years that doesn't make me feel like a burden for asking questions about my vehicle and it's all thanks to Kenneth. He kept it for a few days, however he kept me updated with anything it needed. He inspected the car, offered his best suggestions to fix it, and what the car needed additionally while it was there. If I could give this Pep Boys zero stars, I would. Lindsey was one of the rudest, most unprofessional employees I have ever dealt with. I came in simply asking for clarification about my Jeep and why they were refusing to release it, and instead of acting like someone in customer service, she acted like I was bothering her for asking basic questions. While I was speaking to her, she was banging her hands on the desk, cutting me off, and repeating herself like that somehow counted as an explanation. She kept saying they had not received payment from the insurance company, so I was "not getting my car," but refused to clearly explain the actual discrepancy--other than the fact that now their mechanic suddenly wants more money for labor after an amount was already agreed to. So let me get this straight: the customer is the one left without a vehicle because Pep Boys wants to change the deal after the fact? Completely unacceptable. What really showed how trash the customer service is here was when I was still in the middle of trying to get answers and Lindsey literally looked past me and said, "How can I help you, sir?" to the customer behind me before I was even finished speaking. That level of disrespect was insane. And to make it even worse, she was rude to him too--basically telling him "Nope, we don't do that here" before walking off to the garage. No updates. No phone calls. No communication. I was told I would be kept informed, and instead I had to drive to the shop myself just to find out what was going on with my own vehicle. If this location had not been recommended through insurance, I would have never trusted Pep Boys with my vehicle in the first place. This whole experience has been disorganized, unprofessional, disrespectful, and shady. I'm curious on what is the point of making an appointment only to have to wait an hour and a half for an oil change that takes less than 30 minutes. You offer appointments and then the customers are still stuck there waiting longer than expected. Waste of time and a drive. Been coming here for years and have been very happy with service, results, and affordable pricing. Unfortunately, the sign of the times is affecting even Pep Boys. Mark and Matthew are excellent to work with, communicate with, and very knwoledgeable. On the other hand, Kris, who helps in the front, is quite the opposite - extremely rude, disrespectful, unprofessional conduct, and even accused me for being responsible for an issue (incorrect part order for the window regulator) that had absolutely nothing to do with me. I recall working with Liz at this location and she was an absolute joy to work with. Mechanics and front staff do their best to make this a wonderful place to visit, so it's very unfortunate that someone like Kris ruins it for the entire team. Came in for several things for my Scion xB 2005 - general inspection, oil change, driver's side window regulator/motor replacement, and driver's side power lock actuator replacement. Workmanship was completed as expected, mechanics did a good job. However, I was appalled at the price tag that came with these items compared to my usual fees coming here. Why? Simple - bye bye discounts. Manager's special discount? Gone. Senior discount? Gone. Military discount? Gone. Oil change discount? Now only for Premium oil changes (not standard). Discounts are no longer discounts - they're rebates (and we all know how time consuming those are, if they're even successful). The last thing customers need when getting vehicles inspected or repaired at an auto mechanic shop is attitude and prices that aren't affordable or competitive. Despite the many auto shops in town, I used to stay loyal to this location to get any/all things done for our vehicles. Thanks to this recent visit, I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

I recently took my 2000 Toyota 4Runner to your shop in Yucaipa, CA (Store: 1493) on Monday, December 16, 2024, for issues with brake performance. Specifically, the brake pedal felt squishy and hard intermittently, and the brakes would work periodically and then not at all. I dropped off my vehicle at around 12:30 PM, and by 2:47 PM (important to note), I received a call informing me that they had identified the issue. According to the technician, the right rear axle seal had failed, leaking transmission fluid onto the right rear brake assembly, contaminating the shoes, etc. They quoted me over $1,200 for the repair. I decided to visit the shop in person to see what they were talking about, as I had my reasons to be skeptical. Here's why: back in October (10/23), the same exact issue occurred, but it was the left rear axle seal that failed, contaminating that brake assembly. Despite the contamination back then, I never once experienced a loss of brake pedal reactivity. The symptoms this time were drastically different, leading me to believe it was a pressure-related issue. Still, I approved the repair (Monday at 3:00 PM) and was told it would be ready the next day (Tuesday). Tuesday came and went without any updates. I waited all day for a call, but nothing. Finally, at 4:31 PM, I called for an update. I was then informed that my axle had to be sent off somewhere to be resealed. While I would have been fine with that, I felt completely left in the dark. There was no two-way communication, and I was left carless under the assumption my vehicle would be ready that day. Wednesday - Radio silence. Thursday - Radio silence. Friday - I called at 11:25 AM for an update.. I was then informed that they "could not get the brake pedal to pressurize or stiffen," which, mind you, was my original complaint. At 5:05 PM that same day, I finally received a call notifying me that my brake booster was defective, and fixing it would cost a total around $2,000. I declined this repair. From my perspective, it seems like the technicians saw a fluid leak during the initial inspection, assumed it was the root cause, and called me with a $1,200 estimate without properly diagnosing the actual issue. Then, after I approved the repair, they failed to communicate for four days, only to inform me later that the original issue still wasn't resolved. It feels like they performed an unnecessary repair and expected me to pay for it, all while neglecting to fix the very problem I brought the truck in for. I ended up paying just over $1000 for the 'fixes' and prior to leaving I had 2 mechanics tell me they took it for a test drive and the brake pedal is reactive so the Booster may not be bad but it might go out soon. As soon as I put my truck in drive I had ZERO brakes for the drive home. The vehicle is in worse condition than when I brought it in. read more

UNBELIEVABLE SERVICE!!!!!! When pulling into our campsite we blew out two tires on one side, LATE!!!! Noone would help us with the repairs and we were Stranded. Called this location and they had the tires and even though our service rep , Kenneth had a full plate and was working over time, he was still able to get us in and fix both tires. Kenneth saved our trip, this location went above and beyond in the service dept and the price was also right. read more

Wanted to give a big shoutout to the managers Lindsey and Matt and my mechanics Miguel and Raymond for making sure my brakes & Rotors were brand new and fixed before I left here.... Under the old management I was charged for new brakes/Rotors that were never done... And I myself ended up being done dirty and ripped off big time. It took a little bit longer than expected to get my brakes done due to one of the mechanics calling out, and had gone hours without eating. Lindsey offered me some of her lunch. She is truly the sweetest. Due to the poor treatment from the old management, Lindsey and Matt and my mechanics made sure my brakes and pads were fixed and in good condition before leaving. I came in to have tires that I purchased from TireRack put on the vehicle. The online quote was $78 and I needed to save some money. Appointment was 11am. After additional charges it became $103. Sure. Time quoted was "about" an hour but we know the about adds time. So I walked to get lunch. I get called at 1:28pm. I need brakes on the back. $350. Okay- but also they haven't checked the rotors. They'll call me back in 20. I walk back in. Yes I need rotors. $599. I can't afford that so decide to take it to a friend instead. They say okay they are half way done. 3 hours in to mount 4 tires. Then the manager Kris hits me with "We cannot let you take it it's unsafe". After arguing and crying - and her telling me to call the police and they will show the officers the car- I agree. It should be ready about 4. I decided to ask to see it in writing where they need to keep my car unless I pay to have it towed. When they can't produce it. I let Kris know if it was untrue I would come back with a lawyer. Now I am allowed to take the car of course with threats about not driving it. Also. The technician working on my car is at lunch. Got the keys after three and took it directly to a friend. Plus I asked them to put my spare back underneath. After all the boloney, they put it in my back seat. They cannot by law keep your car UNLESS they tell the police you refused to pay. Which is why they'll tell you they cannot let you pay before they are done. I Just wanted to advise anyone who goes to this shop what kind of tactics they use. Completely dishonest and lie. Also most shops do alignments free with install. They attempt to charge me $129. Kris was absolutely out of line and dishonest. She did call "Mark" who seems to be the head manager, I followed her out to the work bay, after I decided to call a lawyer and a second shop that also said they cannot keep my car. Walked out at 3:20. $103. But now another task, to call the better business bureau. read more

I changed my wife's brakes myself 2-4 weeks ago. Still kept hearing a loud squeaking noise... took it to pep boys, where i met Lindsey. She told me to bring it in to at least do a free brake check. Can't lose anything. She told me worse case scenario i would be looking around $290 for new rotors. About an hour later she called me back saying "how does $65 sound?" She told me my rotors were good, all they had to do was make some minor alterations to the new brakes hardware to make the squeaking go away. I told her sweet!!! I will come back to pep boys in Yucaipa again. I had such an incredible experience at this Pep Boys! I was driving from Mentone to my home in Hemet when I got an alert saying "Check your battery charging system". After a quick google, I realized I needed to go to the nearest mechanic. It was almost 6pm and the only place open was Pep Boys but luckily it was very close! Upon arrival, one of the mechanics looked at my van right away and he and a colleague recommended I leave my car with them overnight so they could fix it in the morning. Yucaipa is 40 minutes away from my house, my husband was working late and I had my two small children aged 1 and 3 with me! The woman at the front desk was so kind. She stayed open passed closing to help call me a Lyft and when she couldn't find a driver right away, she reassured me that she would take me home if need be. Gratefully, a driver picked up our request and she helped me with my car seats. It was such a stressful and unexpected situation but this wonderful woman made it bearable. The best part, is that Pep Boys paid for my Lyft ride all the way from Yucaipa to Hemet! read more

I went to get my oil changed and within 1,000 miles my light came back on. So I went in and they filled it back up and made an excuse. I thought, okay, things happen, no big deal. So I went back again and they did an oil change and redid my brakes. I was sitting there the entire day, but they were nice and gave me a discount for the issues, and again, I thought great! But now my brakes squeak which was never a problem before, and it's less than 1,500 miles and my oil had to be filled again. This time I went somewhere else and they said that where I went before didn't put the cap on all the way, AND they charged me for a new wiper and never put it on my car. I'm NEVER going back to this Pep Boys. The discounts they give are not worth it, when they mess up your car. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1, is because the ladies in the front are really nice. read more

I have been bringing my company truck here for a while since the company I work for has an account with pep boys and this one is in town. I am not one for posting reviews but I will make an exception on the poor service that is being done here. So I usually do a drop off in the morning and give pep boys all the time they need to do the service, I just tell them to give me a call when it's done. On my last service 5000 miles ago I had a smudge on my driver side front tire that stood out before I took it in and when I picked it up I noticed it was still there on the driver side front which obviously would make one think that their tires weren't rotated. Then I decided to check the fluids and see if the oil was new. New oil will have a golden color on the dip stick and old oil will be black. It turns out they did change the oil but did not top off the fluids. Since I didn't really pay any attention or double check these things before (shame on me) , I thought this might be a 1 off and I went on my way. 5000 miles later this morning, I decided to mark my tires and check my fluids in advance to make sure I was getting the quality anyone would expect. Upon dropping it off I told them that the passenger front tire was losing air and if they could inspect and repair, the dash was showing low air on that tire. They had repaired this same tire before and I know that because I have had exactly one tire repair on this set of tires before. I dropped it off and left. Later I get a call from the store and she says that I have a nail in my side wall and the tech recommends 4 brand new tires! I respectfully declined and soon after received a text that my truck was ready. When I came back to pick up the truck I noticed right away that the tires were not rotated since the numbers i marked on them were still in the same locations. When I went to the front desk to get my keys I let them print my invoice before making any comments. I noticed that it said my tires were rotated and they charged me for a tire repair ($20) that wasn't done either. I asked Steven (Store Manager of Service) if tire rotations come with the service and he said yes. Now at this point I tell him that my tires were not rotated and that I was charged for a repair that wasn't done which I request a refund for the repair. Steven says that I don't get a refund on tire rotation since the rotation comes out as $0 on the invoice because it is included in the oil change price. Steven proceeds to tell me that I shouldnt be driving with a nail in my side wall and that's why my tires weren't rotated. I didn't argue with him and his lame excuse for ripping people off but I patiently waited for my refund. Finally I was told that my company would be refunded for the repair (I will be following up on this Steven). Now that I had my keys I opened my hood to find that my fluids were not topped off of course. I went back inside to tell Steven to send someone out to top off the fluids. A technician came out and proceeded to fill my washer fluid with water. I told him that water is not what we pay for and he told me that it was complimentary and they didn't owe it at all and didn't have washer fluid. Wow! If you are advertising that certain services come with a purchase of a service whether you call them complimentary or not, then it's not complimentary! I brought up the tires as well and he told me there was a nail in my driver side tire side wall that when trying to point it out he could not find and pointed to a plug in my passenger side tire that they put in there near the side wall tread, like I said earlier only one repair has been done so I know that's the repair they did. By the way plugs are only TEMPORARY FIXES! A patch on the inside of the tire is the proper long term fix. Went to KORITAS TIRE and they did a proper patch of pep boys plug, found a nail in the driver side tire not in the side wall! Pulled it, checked for leaks, no leak, DONE! 10 Dollars!!! After coming here a few times I wanted to see if they were able to take on tougher jobs. I needed suspension work (struts, shocks, bushings and control arms) and I was feeling rather lazy to do it myself. Happy to see they were willing to take on the job. I was told they just got new software and didn't have a printer for the estimate. No big deal as it should not cost me an arm and leg. Took them about 4 hours... I go to pay the bill and well... $1500 in labor? WFT? I inquire about it and get some bullshit answer its a flat rate charge. Apparently this is how all repair shops operate. Labor rate is $165 per hour. Math doesn't add up. After pleading my case with Crissy and Steven I basically get told oh well, that's how it is and I can go fuck off. Purchased a battery for my vehicle which was a Bosch battery over $209. Battery went bad. They replaced it with a Pep Boys battery. Not even a Bosch battery battery went bad on the Pep Boys battery and 11 months. Now they say the battery that I had exchanged for which was the Pep Boys battery is not warranted anymore because it's based on the Bosch battery that I purchased over four years ago , but the Pep Boys battery was only 11 months old. How does that work? I think maybe that's why Pep Boys is going under due to the fact their chain makes no common sense on their warranty or customer service. So now I'm stuck with a Pep Boys battery not a Bosch battery that I originally purchased But now I'm stuck with a Pep Boys battery. That's bad now I have to purchase another battery but I am going to go somewhere else. That's more reliable than Pep Boys. I'm not mad it's just the replacement battery should be a four or five year battery like it says not 11 months old Pep Boys needsto have better customer service on their warranty. EPIC Fail for my visit today (Sat. 8/22). Was lured in by promo offer in my e-mail inbox offering "Buy 2 get 2 FREE" tires. Now, if you are like me you are thinking in your mind: a couple modestly priced tires at $75 each, plus tax and balancing.....in and out in an hour for perhaps $200..... No so at all. My bill was over $400....which works out to over $200 per tire if you get 2 for free on this deal. And, they didn't even have the tires in stock and had to drive to Redlands to get them while I waited in the lobby. 2 hours and 15 minutes later I finally got my car back with oil change and 4 new tires..... And, that is not the worst of it: on the building entrance it clearly states that masks are to be worn inside......BUT, when I went in neither of the 2 girls behind the counter were wearing theirs nor was a guy with glasses. They either did not have them on at all or had them just over the tip of their chin, leaving their mouth and nose fully exposed. WHAT? Who runs this place? Does the owner know this is going on? Does Corporate? To make matters worse, there was NO Policing of the people coming into the lobby who were NOT wearing masks, nor of the guy waiting next to me in the waiting area who was not wearing a mask. A total FAIL by the entire staff here for protecting the environment and customers against catching the Coronavirus.....If I was the owner, all 3 would be looking for new jobs right about now. Management at that previous location directed me to this location to check out my car and I walked in confident that I would get the amazing service I got at the first location and I was very wrong. The woman at the front desk was beyond disrespectful and rude. Working in the customer service industry, I understand how important delivery is and the impact it can have on a situation. I was laughed at, talked over, and made to feel as though I was incompetent to understand the severity of the issue with my vehicle. The manager was super nice and agreed to check on my car with no hesitation. But as soon as he walked out, the girl at the front desk proceeded with her rude and condescending approach to the situation using phrases such as "it's not that hard", "it's not that difficult", "the splash shield is not even important", and "you can remove it by yourself". Called on a Thursday to get info on a tire. Told me they will look it up and give me a call back. They never called. Went in-person on Friday and they ordered the tire and told me the next morning (Saturday) they will get it in and call me. Next day 2pm comes around and no call so I call them. Turns out they have the tire but never called me. Then I go in to get the tire put on after I hang up. I check in and they tell me they are going to start working on it so I start waiting. About hour and a half goes by and the worker tells me my car (tells me wrong car) is going to be done soon. I told him that's not my car and I tell him what car I am waiting for. He makes a confused face and then goes out the back door back door. At this moment I get a weird feeling so I go out the front door and see if my car is still in the same spot as I dropped it off and low and behold, it is. The entire time they forgot about my car and I wasted 1.5 hrs just sitting there (I should of figured when a couple came in about a hour later for the same thing and got there car done before me) I then go see the guy get in my car and drive it to the back and start the work. Finally comes back and it's finished (about 2hrs have passed in total). Go to checkout and they rang me up wrong when I came in the day before so they had to get on the phone with IT and correct it (luckily they let me leave at this point). Front 2 workers are nice caring people but when it comes to work they were all over the place and disorganized (almost gave me the wrong keys). read more

Unbelievably bad experience. No communication and bad craftsmanship of work performed. Had to continuously call for an update. The day my truck was supposed to be ready I never received a call so I showed up 35 minutes before closing time to find my truck outside and the store doors locked. They closed early. When I finally got my truck I noticed my break pedal was hard to push and a large gape on my dash. As I was driving home and my truck brakes were engaging. I got stuck on the side of the road . Tow truck was over 2 hour wait. They tried to make it sound like it was my fault the truck was having issue. All said and done, they had my truck for six day. The air is cold but I now have wires dangling under my dash and a gape on both sides of my dash. I do not recommend this location. read more
