On August 24, 2019 I took my Chevrolet Cruze to Pep Boys, in Weslaco, toget its BOSCH battery replaced under warranty. It was replaced, but I had to HELP the technician with installing the battery retainer plate CORRECTLY! It got done. Today, October 1, 2019 I returned because the BOSCH battery failed. After I got my car, I checked under the hood and the positive terminal was not attached correctly. It had to be lowered in order for the fuse box/cover to fit properly. THEN it was when I noticed the battery installed was a CHAMPION battery! I did NOT pay for a CHAMPION battery! The service advisor NEVER asked me if I would accept a different battery and he DID NOT tell me a different brand battery had been installed! CAN'T anyone do a job CORRECTLY nowadays?! I brought this up to the service advisor and AFTER I asked why a CHAMPION battery was installed, he told me he did not have a BOSCH battery in stock and that he would order one. COME ON, MAN!!! I hate to say it, but I had a pretty bad experience trying to get my car fixed here. I don't know a whole lot about cars and was going to give the place a break, but the problems keep coming and no one has tried to make it better. I called and described the problem- the AC was no longer blowing cold air. They told me to bring it in and when I did, they spent about 5+ hours looking at it only to tell me that they couldn't pinpoint the problem and I would have to take it somewhere else to get the electrical stuff looked at. The diagnostic at pep boys was $150. After taking it to the recommended shop, I took it back to pep boys because the other shop told me it was the compressor. The representative at pep boys told me they would get the part in within a day or two, but it was more than a week before they had it. Twice I went into the repair section of the shop and there was either no one in the front to help me, or everyone was taking phone calls and not addressing the line. Both times I waited about 10 minutes before anyone offered to help me. It seemed like they were understaffed; I wish now that I had asked to speak with a manager. The most irritating thing was that they wouldn't work with my schedule- the polite representative that had been working with me this whole time wanted me to bring my car in on a day when he and one specific mechanic were both working. Not only did it have to be after 12 PM- neither of my days off (Tuesday or Friday) worked for both of them. Overall I missed about 6 days of work and I have been driving around in the summer heat with no AC for 4+ weeks. We've put about $900 into fixing this issue, and this is my family's only car so I've paid plenty of taxi cab charges as well. Pep boys replaced the compressor and a fan, and my AC still doesn't work, so I have to take it to another shop for electrical work. With all of the delays and beating around the bush, it's been an infuriating process and pep boys has failed to meet my expectations. read more

Rude. They take forever, and I'm not exaggerating. Horrible customer service. You would think these people are mute. Not a single "Hello how can I help you?" nor a "Oh I'm Sorry, let me fix that." when they give you the wrong product. Prices? Ridiculous. Went in there to purchase a pair of P235/75 R16 tires. Guy comes out with P245/65R17s . Charges me for them , gets my info for the warranty. He types like he's never used a keyboard in his life. I load them up into my truck and check my receipt. Thats when I noticed I had the wrong ones and that he had misspelled my name and address. I roll them back into the store and he just looks at me, but never addresses me. Not a word. I tell him what I asked for. He takes the tires back, comes back with the right ones, gets back on the computer to print out the new receipt and fix the warranty info. Never says a word to me. No "I'm sorry about that." Gives me my paper, and doesn't even help me load them back into my truck. Its the LEAST he could have done for his horrible service. I spent almost an hour there and there were only 2 other customers in the entire store, with 4 in-store employees and two mechanics. NEVER setting foot in there again. Had me in and out in less than an hour and a half for a lengthy inspection. Very satisfied

OUR VOLVO IS COMPLETELY OUT OF COMMISSION after taking it for a simple oil change. The engine blew up as we literally drive it out of their shop in Weslaco. After calling a tow truck to take it back to their shop for an explanation...we were told that they were not liable for any damages. We should have known better...as we were coming in initially, a man was furious because he had taken his truck there to For his brakes...and his brakes had failed on him during a family trip to San Antonio! But we trusted that they couldn't make bad mistakes in a regular basis...and now we have VOLVO gathering dust. Never, EVER take your vehicle back to Pep Boys after it has been damaged by them. TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE, WITH SOMEONE WHO ISN'T BIASED so they can't tell you it wasn't their fault. We're finding out, through word of mouth (and other ways) that this Pep Boys has had A LOT of unsatisfied customers....and has costed many of them a fortune. They are unfair and cannot be trusted. They will wash their hands clean after costing you your time, money and trust. read more

There's way better car service shop then this. They took 2 hrs just to change my oil and 4 hrs to cut my breaks. Setting up appointment is pointless. Just bad services and inefficient workers. read more
