Do not take your business here! Go to America's Tire - there is a location in Murrieta not too far away from this Pep Boys location in Murrieta. I bought a tire yesterday from Pep Boys, Americas Tire bought that Pep Boys tire off of me and we also found that I was still under some of my warranty. Out the door I paid $348 for 4 new tires AND new windshield wipers!!! I also only waited 15 minutes for them to be finished with my car. Save yourself the frustration with Pep Boys and just go to America's tire! They have the best warranty out there and they are always so beyond helpful!!! Not sure if they know what an appointment time means. I have been waiting 3 weeks for a part to show, then finally came in and scheduled an appointment at 10am. It has been over two hours and the car still hasn't been taken into a bay. I was told an hour and half wait time, two hours in and still no movement on the car. If this place wasn't my warranties vendor I'd take it somewhere else. Update!! I went to the front to see why my car wasn't being worked on yet. Come to find out THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART! I called ahead of time to ensure I had lifetime alignment. I was informed that I did and that I could come in before I hung up. I made sure that I said that there wouldn't be any problems if I showed up and I would have it they said yes come in. I showed up Richard. The store manager told me they wouldn't be taking my car anymore because I don't have a lifetime alignment and is that a comment within their system saying I do as sufficient enough that I need something else stay away from this place won't honor other stores comments and sales nor will they honor what they tell you on the phone. read more

Had headlight replaced in February 2025 and it went out second week of December 2025. I called pep boys the guy told me next time i should buy a better bulb. Never in 25 years of driving a vehicle have i had to replace a headlight twice in less than 12 months all they did was shrug me off and tell me it's "not uncommon". Asked if i could go over options with a supervisor was left hanging on hold. They wouldnt even offer to check if it was loose or a fuse or anything. I had an appointment for an Uber vehicle inspection! 1pm I brought the car in, in time! At 3:05 I got a note on my phone with the results, so I went to the service desk to ask about my car! The man at the desk said my car wasn't ready! I looked outside and my car was re-parked outside!! I went back to the desk and showed the man my car in the lot!! He said that he was just back from Lunch Does the whole shop stop operating during lunch? 2 hours with an appointment is bad business As a contrast I bought 4 new tires at America's Tire ( a shop even busier the Pep Boys). I bought the car in on time, the car was handed back to me with 4 new tires mounted and balanced in 45 minutes! An added tidbit, I asked the shop to replace the rear wiper blade ( on my SUV)! The shop said they didn't have the right blade! But as I looked in my rear view mirror, there was something that I didn't recognize! Once they get the keys to your vehicle, they try to perform numerous other sand unnecessary repairs and part replacements. Sent me home with an engine check light cause by their neglect to replace an electrical connection, and a failure to recognize their error. Recommended I visit a dealership for repair. I discovered the disconnect and resolved the issue! Returned for great deal on a oil change, and they performed another 15-point inspection, found an issue, rotated the tires and consumed two hours of my day. I dropped in to buy a handful of things. Needed to use a pair of channel locks to pop my hubs off my wheels (vehicle parked out front). Aric refused to assist or allow me to use the tool for two minutes. I have spent an obscene amount of money at this place and they couldn't even assist me in a pinch by letting use the most basic of all tools. The store was empty, I was the only customer inside, and he wouldn't even walk out front to lend a hand to a customer TRYING to purchase items. What kind of part shop is this? I'll never return to this awful business and I recommend anyone else looking for parts go somewhere else. This is not the way to get repeat business. And to treat a long time customer this way? Crooks! I brought my son's car here after he hit a curb. They inspected it and told me it needed over $2000 worth of work, including frame work, and that it wasn't even safe to drive away from there. Huge disappointment. I went in for an alignment on my 82 Regal. After about an hour in a half I was told they couldn't do it because they don't do tie rod adjustments without an extra charge. I'm pretty sure this is what an alignment entails. I just think they don't know what to do or they just wanted to up charge me because he said at first this needed to be fixed first then when I asked if that wasn't part of the alignment he said they can add it for an additional charge. It's just very disappointing to have trust in this company and even the mechanics so that they can just try to get more money and ultimately waste your time. read more

Did not get one thing correct! I got an oil change and they left the oil cap off. Oil shot all over the inside of the car and when I got home noticed it and oil dripping on the garage floor. I also got two new tires and asked that the rear ones were rotated to the front. This was not done. Now they also overinflated the two new tires by 9 lbs and the rear ones were under inflated because they didn't even check them. Now I went back to have these issue resloved. One hour and forty minutes later I get my car and tires not rotated and I had them open the hood and oil still splattered all over the place. The manager went and got a rag and started wiping it off. This engine needs to be steam cleaned to take the oil off. The first employee just used compressed air because I watched him. Now my garage still has oil because of this and I definitely wouldn't let these inept folks touch anything in my house. I can't in good conscience ever do business with these folks again. I scheduled an appointment last Friday to replace a faulty front door speaker on my fleet vehicle. Despite it being a simple task, upon returning to pick up my truck, I discovered no repairs had been made despite being told my truck was ready for pickup over the phone. They claimed there was no problem with the speaker. We then went to my truck, and i had to show them how the faulty speaker sounded. Then I was told to take the truck home, and they would send in the request to the fleet. This means I would need to come back a second time. Approval for fleet repairs typically takes less than 1 hours. I still have not heard back. It was a waste of time and money on two Uber rides. This lack of competence and communication has left me thoroughly dissatisfied, and I will not return. read more

I got my rear brakes change and they recomend to hone the rotor. Ater a week I came back complaining that when I press the break it starts vibrating specially in the free way. When I asked for how much for the new rotor they said the cheapest was $130 each. And that's not including the labor. That is twice the price of a good rotor in the market. They already got me for changing the same rear break pads and honing the rotor for $250 last week. To fix my rear breaks it'll come down to a total of almost $600. Not going back there. DO NOT TAKE your car here!!! You will have a nightmarish experience while they find ways to rip you off. I have already filed a complaint with their regional manager and theBureau of Automotive Repairs. Let's see how it goes. On December 5, 2023 Pep Boys did a courtesy inspection for my vehicle and said it needed service, stating on the report that "rf differential seal leaking". They quoted me $600. On April 27th, 2024, I finally saved enough money to address the issue so I brought it in for work to be done. I dropped off the car and signed the paperwork for them to start work and left. I got a call from Joe (the rep who checked me in) later that day and he told me that what was on their report from December 5, 2024 was actually not correct, that there must have been miscommunications between the service writer and the technician, and that my car had another issue and they do not have the part for it, that I would need to wait until Tuesday April 30th for the part to come. When Tuesday come around, I got another call from Joe telling me that I have locks on my wheels and that I would need to pay for the removal and the replacement of the locks. By then, I told him I would just come pick up my car. He called me later and told me to give him until Wednesday when his boss gets in to see what they can so about the lock. Wednesday May 1st comes around and Joe calls me and apologized for all the hassles I had to go through. He said he would take off the labor fees and that my price was reduced to about $400. And that everything will be done by Thursday but to give him until Thursday 6 PM. Thursday May 2nd, 2024, I didn't hear from Pep Boys at all. I waited until Friday May 3rd, 2024 to call in. I spoke with Richard who apparently didn't know what was going on with my car. He simply told me that Joe was off on that day and asked me what I would like him to do. I asked him to contact Joe. How is it that he's not filled in when he's the manager. Richard never called me back so I called him a few hours later. Richard proceeded to tell me that my axel was damaged and that it would be about $1000. I asked him to send me a write up so I can get a second opinion. I never got a copy. The next day I called and Joe finally sent me an email and the fee is actually almost $1800. I told them it was too much, so they told me to come pick up my car, but it would cost me about $400 because his technician had to open my car and close it up again. I asked for them to send me a copy of all my paperwork as I will be filing a complaint, and they are giving me the run around. They further damaged my car and are not compensating me for it. This is the poorest Pepboys I have ever had the displeasure of entering. I recently purchased a tire online and did a pick up tire mount in store. My wife went to the store because had to work. I took my car there because it was misfiring. They misdiagnosed the issue (twice) and put in equipment that was unnecessary due to a recall that they had somehow overlooked. I didn't find out the what actual problems were and get them fixed properly until I took the car to the dealership. They make up a long list of items to be fixed so females can fix them as they trust these workers unfortunately. Pep Boys also takes advantage of older females who are senior citizens, they will come up with a long list of things to do when the car doesn't really need all that. Pep Boys gave me the run around because I told them their mechanics damaged my car when they worked on it. First time they made me pay $1800 and the second time they charged me $600, the last time I went there so they can fix what they damaged they came up with yet another list of items, it would be about $2000 worth. Ever since Pep Boys touched my car it has been making noises and is not driving as well as it used to drive. I am asking them to refund my money at least the $600 they charged me to supposedly fix my brakes because according to them my brakes were bad, but every since they touched my car there's been one problem after another. I am asking them to give me my money back so I can take my car to an honest shop and have it fixed, especially that they damaged it to keep me coming back and spending more money there. They are giving me the run around and won't give me a refund while I'm driving my car that is now very bad and makes so many loud noises because they did that intentionally to make me go back and spend more money. The last time I went there I refused to pay more money because they are fraudulently telling me some work needs to be done to my car, but it's because they intentionally did something bad to my car so I can keep coming back and spending more money. My van died on my drive home and I had to have it towed to the local Pep Boys. It was a Sunday and I'm a single mom so I have no backup driver and was in a pinch. I had to get the van repaired. It was my alternator which also killed my battery. The service desk person was polite and explained everything my van needed. I had those things repaired and replaced, which took up all of my day Sunday, and $1400 later I was relieved to get the van back. Driving it home, the next day Monday, and into Tuesday the red battery warning light continues to flash on & then off sporadically in my dashboard. I thought that this might resolve itself over time, but I called Pep Boys to ask about it & they recommended I bring the van back in. Tuesday I was there another 4 hours only to be told that they couldn't figure out why the battery light was coming on, gave me my keys back, & said to come back if it goes on and stays on (not the on/off it's been doing). Now I'm in a spot where I have no idea if the battery is going out or not. What if that battery alert is legit? What if this leads to other damage? What if my van dies again and I'm stranded? If I go to another shop, I'll surely be out more money in repair. This was an expensive lesson for me. The desk staff are nice, that explain what service you need and accept payment. It's the garage that's lacking. This location deserves its low star rating and I would not recommend using a shop that cannot competently complete a repair. read more
