Let's start right in. I made an appointment online a day in advance to have my tires rotated (free service!), my wheel alignment checked (free service!), and my oil changed in which I supplied the filter and oil ($12 NOT BAD!). I was sure to check an appointment slot with many free openings around it 12:30pm. I arrived on time for my appointment and was apologized to and told that things were backed up but they would get to it. There was one wheel alignment ahead of me. It happens, I guess, but why take appointments at all then? I chose to wait there for service as it's my only vehicle at the moment, and I did not expect to wait as long as I did. ... After TWO HOURS I approached the service desk again and asked when they thought they might even look at my truck since I saw some free bays in the garage as well. Mouseclicks, mouseclicks, mouseclicks, service agent excuses himself to the garage for a few minutes, comes back out and tells me they will move the truck into the bay. More waiting. Bought a turkey leg from the food trucks conveniently parked in their lot. Delicious. Bought a deck of playing cards from the neighboring Advanced Auto Parts to play solitaire with. Two more hours, and my oil was changed and tires rotated! Yippee! Something I regularly do at home in 25 minutes start to finish with a floor jack. Was informed they would NOT be doing a wheel alignment because of worn ball joints. Ok, I can accept that. Now despite the horrendous wait of FOUR HOURS for an oil change and tire rotation, this I can understand. No doubt, but after the appointment is where the one star really starts to fade to zero if that were possible. I noticed a grinding sound on the way out of the parking lot. Assuming it was an old rotor or old decayed rubber, I gave it a couple days while I ordered parts to complete the work to get an alignment myself. Parts came in. Jacked up my truck and took the wheel. To my surprise, the brake caliper was only held in by one bolt! For some reason, they had taken a bolt out of my caliper during the service and not put it back, hence the grinding and subsequent DAMAGE to my vehicle that could have cost me my life. I called 30mins before closing on a Saturday night about getting my tire checked and she told me to come over even though they were closing soon. The two gentleman immediately went to work checking the tire and sure enough found a slow leak about 1/2" from the sidewall. They replaced the tire with same type and I was on my way in less than 30mins. All 3 employees were very friendly and helpful which made me feel comfortable. I've been here twice now and both have been positive experiences. The staff has been helpful and quick to complete the job. On my first visit I came in for a new battery, they were having a sale, and with installation it was still cheaper than Walmart or Costco. On my second visit, I needed new wipers. Without asking, an employee offered to help me find the right size and type and then again without my asking, offered to install them while I paid. It's nice to see this type of customer service still exists, especially in an automotive chain store. For cleanliness I would say not as that isn't priority as the floors and doors have not been cleaned for awhile. The bathroom walls and floor was dirty and it felt greasy but I was in a car service repair shop.... just saying ya always can do better. Very efficient and timely as they sent me a text when my car was finished which was sooner then their time frame when I left the keys with them. Said 40 minutes done in 30 minutes. Went in to have back two tires replaced. We were told that the bolts were on to tight to be safely taken off. As we were getting in our car my husband noticed one bolt was missing from the tire and the rest were loose. We were not told this by the person giving us the keys back. After we requested they tighten them we were handed a nut with a screw broken it if. I just got a service today so I guess we will see how the workmanship holds up!! Good thing is there is a great warranty on parts and labor. You won't believe it-- I got a same day appointment AND the service itself took less than an hour. I really want to highlight the customer service experience. Big shoutout to Charles and Chris for answering all my questions (and laughing at my jokes haha). Got my front brakes changed and rotor work done. The price seems competitive and the warranty def helps. What really cushions the blow of any expense, big or small, is the person who is delivering the news. I 100% see why Charles is in the position he is in. He looked for a coupon to help with the cost and even went over high and low options for getting the job done right. I felt like they were honest and didn't go too hard with upselling. I felt like he was mostly educating me so I could make my own informed decision with minimal pressure to spend a bajillion dollars. Came here to get a TPS replaced. Should've took an hour max turned into a 2 hour wait because the gentlemen had issues with dismounting my 22's. They were constantly walking around the issue, and even got irritated when I was looking visibly disturbed through the service window. The guy who was servicing said "he can wait" in Spanish I assume because he thought I didn't understand it. I Had to get a manager who clearly wasn't informed on the problem but she in fact dismounted it by herself. I don't like rating places based off staff because they can be different but the Employees walking around the issue and saying I can wait didn't sit right with me. I took my truck in for AC service. I was told that there was a leak l, had it fixed for $700. A short while later I took it in again for AC service l, I was told it was a leak. I paid $250. Two weeks later I took it back in for AC work I was told that it was a leak. This time they wanted to charge me $1300. I decided to take it elsewhere to someone who specializes in AC work. I was not only told that there was not a leak with that one of my belts was busted. This repair cost me $300. Clearly this is something that Pep Boys never bothered to check..One may ask why I continue to go to this location. The the answer to that is that it was under warranty. However coincidentally all repairs that were required were not covered by the warranty. Go figure. If you'd like to waste money and I have a bad experience, this is a place for you. So I came back the next Friday on my day off and left it there for 5 hours for them just to tell me I have a leak in ALL 3 places they fixed. My tire light kept coming on and I finally found someone who knew what the issue was. They took my car into the bay within the time frame they said they would and had it out within the time frame they said they would. They seem to have a system that works which is your basic first come first serve unless you have an appointment. They were honest about the tire issue when in fact I wouldn't have know one way or another if it was something serious which saved me a ton of money. Took my vehicle too get brakes and rotors looked at too see if they needed too be replaced or resurfaced. Told resurfacing would be good for rotors but needs new pads. Ok wife left it there we got notified when it was ready went too pick up. Got home wife said steering wheel shakes really bad when braking. Ok I said we will take it back and have them check it out. Made appointment they looked at it said everything looked good. I had them do an alignment check and all of a sudden front rotors are bad they claim it looks as if the technician cut them too thin. Was told they would have too talk too the manager and see what they can do. Heard nothing for a few hours notice they were closing at 6 I called and asked what's up. Still waiting too hear something from the manager but you can come pick it up. I get there In a few minutes i don't live far and when I walk in Hey I just spoke with the manager and will see what kind of deals we can give you. I said what do you mean your technician cut the rotors too short? Was told yeah sometimes it doesn't take on Toyota rotor's because of the material there made from but once the computers start working again I can see what kind of deals we can get you. Another technician walked in they asked her too get my keys and she said is that the one we cut the rotors too thin on and she said yes. So apparently everybody there knew that they messed up. I asked again why am I being offered deals and got told well it's a known issue with Toyota I can warranty out the pads and you just pay for rotors and labor I kept saying I'm not understanding why I'm having too pay it's your mess up. Then I get told ok I can warranty the pads and labor you just pay for the rotors there $180 each I can give them too you for $150 each and you pay that. Once again I said you admitted this is a known problem why was I offered resurfacing in the first place if this is a known problem why am I being penalized for something that shouldn't have been offered in the first place and you admitted you cut the rotors too thin. I came in at the appointment time and they told me it would be another 30-45 minutes before they even took my car in which it probably took longer. I was there for an hour and a half and I had somewhere to be so I had to leave as soon as I paid. I checked after and they only did the oil change and never even mentioned the inspection so I wasted all that time just for an oil change. After checking my car Joel told me that it was not the ignition coil but just the plugs and the wires, a less expensive job. Because I live nearby, I've been going to this Pep Boys for the past eight years. Mechanics don't seem to stay long, so the great one who worked on our car last time might not be there this time. That said, most of the time -- really, most all of the time -- the work is done right. For routine jobs, I'd have no hesitation whatever recommending this shop. What prompts me to post this review is that yesterday I started the car (2011 Toyota) and saw the warning, "Check brake system." The brakes felt soft until I pumped the pedal 2 or 3 times. The brake fluid level was at Max. I tested the brakes in my neighborhood and they felt normal. Driving it a few miles, with a lot of stops, no problems. Back home I put on my OBD2 tester. It reported no faults. But the "Check brake system" light was still on. Not comforting to the dear wife. Truth be told, not to me either. Only thing that came to mind was air in the system. I had the brake fluid flushed two months ago (but only 250 miles ago; we don't drive much) at this Pep Boys. Maybe a bleeder valve got loose and was letting air in? So in the afternoon I took the car back to this shop. They put the car on the lift and found no brake fluid leaks and no damaged lines or hardware. About all they could do, they said, was to bleed the brakes. Which they did, and which turned off the "Check brake system" light and made the brake pedal feel normal hard again. What I especially liked is that they did this under warranty, from the flush two months ago. They could have said the car's brakes were fine after their earlier flush, that this is a new problem. But they didn't. Hats off to Pep Boys. The manager also told me if the brakes go bad again, I should probably take the car to the dealer. That's what I mean about this shop being great for routine work, but not for advanced problems. But that's OK. Most auto work today is preventive -- flushing transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, etc -- or replacements -- shocks, starters, oil/filters, etc -- and this shop will do them fine. It's large, clean, well lit. And the managers throughout the years have not tried to weasel a buck out of me. I've always been treated fairly. A good shop. Think you'd like it. read more

Done with this chain. Scheduled an appointment for a state inspection on my morning off so I could get everything done. Took me almost 30min's to get there and, when I dis was told they wouldn't do the inspection because the ground was wet - seriously!? Well, according to them the "car might slide more than it's allowed. Not if the brakes and tires are working - isn't that the point? What's more aggravating is the mechanic agreed with me but still refused to do it. They have a massive, & empty I might add, parking lot to use so it's not as if they were doing this in traffic! Went in to have my brakes and shocks/struts checked. They were timely and didn't even charge me anything. Very polite as well.

I have never had such a bad experience in servicing my truck. I had had a slow leak in one of my tires for several weeks and finally decided to get it checked out. I arrived and was told it would be serviced within 20 mins. I had an appointment down the street so I said I was going to go to the appointment and would be back to pick up the truck when I was done. As My appointment lasted longer then expected so I did not come back for an hour. When arrived I noticed my truck was lifted in one of the bays still. When I went in I was acknowledged by eye contact and then immediately ignored by the service desk. When one of the servicemen came in, the counter guy asked if he had worked on the truck yet. The man replied no because he was told to service another vehicle and the counter guy said "well he's here to pick it up." At this point I realized that my truck had been hoisted up and forgotten about; and, furthermore, was still not spoken to about the lack of service. So the serviceman left and began to work on the truck. I proceeded to the waiting room frustrated. So the man finished and pulled my truck out front, which made me think I'd be out of their soon. Well apparently forgetting about my truck was not enough to make them pay any more attention to me. They messed around with numerous other paperwork. It wasn't until I continually stared at the counter guy that he finally said he was pulling up my stuff now for checkout. Without any offers of apology he paid full price for my flat fix and was ready to get out of there. However, the show was not over. Once I collected all of my paperwork I noticed the counter guy searching the key box and counter...They had lost my keys! After getting a manager, calling the serviceman who had left for the day, and search my truck 2-3x they finally found them. No comments were made until the manager handed me my keys mumbling a half-hearted apology. My 20 min service for a FLAT REPAIR took 2 HOURS! During my time there I heard one of the employees tell another employee--in front of customers--about being pissed off with everyone and another manager say that he didn't even know what was going on, which was apparent by him just fumbling around. Between the rediculous amount of time it took to get my flat fixed and the lack of acknowledgement by the stuff when they had screwed up, I was very upset. I will NEVER return to this pepboys. If I wanted that kind of service I would have gone to the Walmart auto center and got it done for half the price. read more

These guys were so wonderful and such a life saver. We were driving home to Corpus Christi from Austin and had stopped to get a snack at a gas station outside of San Antonio. As we were getting back on the on ramp to I 10 west we were cut off by a rageful semi and forced onto the median, at which point my tire struck a random block of wood, completely tearing through it. As it was 7:30 on a Saturday, all of the Firestones and discount tires nearby were closed, but luckily this pep boys was only 5 minutes away and open until 8. We were able to get the spare tire put on and aired up by the time we called them at 7:55 telling them we wouldn't make it there till right at 8 or a little after and they said they would wait. We got there at 8:01 and they were so nice and so quick to get a brand new tire on my ford focus, only taking 15 minutes or so and only charging me $84! Was so happy they were there for us in a time of emergency, allowing us to not have to drive 2 1/2 hours on a crappy spare at 50 miles an hour. I have no idea what most poor people have to do when they pop a tire on the highway on a Saturday night, but these guys have great hours, are super fast, helpful and nice, especially for having to work late on a Saturday night .
