Without a doubt, the worst car experience I have ever had. I brought my car in because the AC/Heating/Defrosting system was not operating. Twice over the next two weeks, they called to tell me the repair was done. When I turned on the car both times, those systems were as inoperable as before. Did they think I wouldn't notice? Plus, the manager was persistently rude and impatient every time I called to check on progress or on parts that they had ordered. After the second time they said the repair was done, I asked for a refund. They referred me to the corporate office. No apologies, no acknowledgement at all. I am disputing the $1,000+ bill, for which I received absolutely no service. Oh, and I've heard nothing from corporate. Avoid Pep Boys at all costs is my advice. Incompetent and rude. read more

They put new tires on my wife's car She got a flat recently and we couldn't get the lug nuts off they were so tight it stripped out her tire wrench. We had to get an impact wrench to remove the lug nuts, what a joke! The wannabe mechanics need some training at this location. Thanks for putting us in a really bad situation! read more

I made an appointment for an engine air filter and oil change on line. I pulled the oil change coupon off of their website, which bought the price for full synthetic down to 69 dollar due to the 20 dollar discount. Upon going to the liberty rd. location in randallstown md I was quoted a different price which was 103. I formed the young man at the register that the online price says 89 dollar minus the 20 on line coupon. He pretented as if he never heard about the on line coupon and request that I show him the coupon on line, of which I did. Then the other young man said that the coupon did not pertain to my vehicle because my vehicle takes 6 quarts of oil so that's the reason why my oil change would be 103 instead of 69. After leaving the store I checked to see how much oil my vehicle takes which was 4.3 not 6 as I was quoted. It is so ashame when you can no longer go to a facility to render service without being take advantage of, as high as prices are. I remember my first car instead of taken it to the dealer for an oil change I took it to PEP BOYS which was clean and trust worthy in the late 80's. I struggled with this entry because I had never had any issues with Pep Boys, especially this location. I usually take my vehicle to the dealer but didn't this particular time due to when my maintenance could be scheduled. At Pep Boys, I was told for my oil change I would need to do a full synthetic based on the vehicle requirements. I explained when I go to the dealer, semi-synthetic was always used so why now do I need to use full. The associate explained that full synthetic was recommended but semi was an alternative and maybe the dealer says semi could be used so that I would keep coming back. . I'm still confused at that response because an oil change is something I need to have if I plan to keep the vehicle I drive every day maintained. When my services were completed, I noticed the maintenance light was still on. I turned it off, restarted and it was still on. I questioned another associate if it had been reset. He said drive it for a while and if it remains on, bring it back to Pep Boys! What?! I came to Pep Boys because of scheduling issues so I didn't have the time to leave and then come back. I went to the associate who did the work on my truck all to be told he tried and didn't know why the light was still on. I subsequently went home, read the manual and looked at a YouTube video. Scheduled a appointment for 8:00 am for a express oil change and tire rotation after reading the good reviews and seeing that they had a deal when you set up your appointment online. Tracking number 00742093620. Little did I know that no one shows up until after 8:30. So by 8:50 I finally got seen. I should have left way before that but shame on me. Then they didn't have any of the info from when I made the appointment so had to give them all my vehicle info again. The manager Alvin only gave me two options the mobile 1 synthetic and the penzoil platinum oil changes included a free tire rotation but neglected to tell me that all the oil changes have a free rotation. I have a high performance mustang with summER tires, I recently went to the Pepboys on liberty road, randallstown two take off my summer tires and rims and install my winter tire and rims , which are already on the rims. They wanted to charge me $280.00, to take off four tires and rims and install four winter tires and rims. I usually pay between $30.00 to $40.00 to have this done, the one on Baltimore National Pike was too busy and I was going out of town. I have been a customer at the liberty Road store since 1986, when they sold accessories for your vehicle. I smiled and wished him a great day. This will be my last visit to this location. The manager will be notified because no one should be treated this way. The staff welcomed me when I stepped in the door and the place is immense. A mini warehouse of car accessories, cleaning products, gidjets, gadgets, and a car servicing station on the opposite side of the building. I've only been to this location once and I will return in the future. It is very organized, clean and fully stocked. Pep Boys has weekly deals , so, if you keep interest in things like this keep a look out. Car wax, sun visors, batteries, fuses, light bulbs, colored customizing lights, windshield wipers, etc.... I loved the matching sets of Tinkerbell and Mickey Mouse steering wheel cases, trash bags, floor mats and seat covers. The kid in me got excited, but I couldn't look at those patterns long term because my car is stupid about seat covers! Their is a service desk in the back with helpful employees willing to answer any questions, I'll be back when I'm ready to customize my car. For whatever odd reason Pep Boys does have a free Wi-Fi setup, cool for me considering I us AT&T. AND they have a rewards card out now, SO GO GET YOURS TODAY! read more

Had to uber to this Pep Boys when my car battery died on me and was serviced by William, who provide the epitome of customer service to get me in and out efficiently and without me feeling like I was being sold the highest ticket item. He was patient and pointed out where I could get additional savings. I didn't have a great opinion of Pep Boys based on previous experiences but this time was definitely a breath of fresh air. We get so accustomed to poor customer service that I felt it necessary to highlight my visit. read more

I went there for an oil change and included with the service, I was supposed to have the air pressure in my tires checked and my tires rotated. I asked before and after the service if these things were done and I was assured that it was. When driving to work the following Monday morning, I noticed that the sensor on my dash indicated that my tires were still under pressurized and the indicator also showed that my tires were in the same position. I called them and returned Monday evening and they corrected the problem. If I did not have those sensors , I would not have known and since I was preparing for a lengthy road trip for Thanksgiving, I wanted to have a safe trip. Although they apologized, I will never trust them again nor will I return to Pep Boys. read more

Worst experience I've ever experienced from a car repair shop. I ordered tires through amazon and paid for installation from pep boys. I was given the option to choose 3 different time slots. (Sun8a-11a, sun 12p-5p, mon4p-8p) Out of the 3 time slots pep boys chose what works best for them. Sunday 8a-11am was their choice. First issue is they open at 9am not 8am, then I get there at 8:57am doors are locked no issues there but then doors don't open until 9:05, 3rd issue the asst manager Kevin for the tire installation side walks through the doors approximately 9:15am. I was first in line, gave my info and gave my keys. Kevin advised that he didnt know what time it would be done because he takes appointments and it's first come first serve. I expressed that I had an appt and I was first in line. He still wouldn't verify a time so I got an Uber home. 1:30pm called 4 times no answer and then called corporate and asked them to call and stay on the line, they did just that and no answer again. They claimed it might be a phone issue. I then called another Uber and went back to the store and the asst manager was called I asked about the phone and he Said he could not answer because he was busy and is short staffed. I expressed to Kevin that he has customers cars and he needs to answer the phone every time for this reason here. I have no clue what's going on and realized I need more service done so I tried to call however now I don't want to anyone service from them. I was also told that my car was not worked on and to come back at 5pm. I came back and still not done I walked out at 5:35pm. I dropped my car off at 2 and came back at 5 and nothing was done to it. The customer service is a joke. They don't care that they don't stick to their appointments or their time frames. I really do miss seeing Cliff at this store. He was a really good employee. My issue is not with the sales department. Those employees are all friendly and I give a 4 out of 5 to them. My gripe is the service center. I had an appointment scheduled over a week in advance for March 7th at 10:00am. I have a lifetime wheel alignment service that I purchased from the Pep Boys in Towson. I really did think all Pep Boys were the same, but I was wrong. I walked in and was told to leave my car for the day. When I said I had an appointment for a wheel alignment I was told the store next door also does them. Problem is, I have a lifetime service I purchased from Pep Boys. I even went through getting the order number from the Towson store so this store in Randallstown would be able to look it up. I was told maybe the route 40 store could help me. I do not have the time to wait or drive to another store. I have another appointment at 2:00pm. I specifically said all of this when I set it up for this date over a week ago. I can understand maybe a 30 minute to 60 min delay, but the whole day? Hell no. There was no, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" from the service center employee or even an offer to make things up. He could have even offered to reschedule, but didn't bother doing so. I told him I cannot wait and left. I drive from PA to this location because I've only ever used this store and the one in Towson when I lived in MD. I tried to stay loyal to the stores I've visited, but I've only wasted my time and gas money to come to this store. I won't be returning again. I give a 0 out of 5 for my experience with service, so that leaves my review at a 2. Would be lower, but the sales agents are respectful there and I am rating the store as a whole. read more

On Sunday March 24, 2019 around 1pm I visited Pep Boys Auto Parts & Service located at 8635 Liberty Road Randallstown, MD 21133. The purpose of my visit was to locate what I thought was a leak in my tire as well as potentially purchase 2-3 new tires. They pulled my car in for service and could not find the leak. I proceeded to the parking lot. Upon attempting to open my driver side door it would only open about 8 inches and was making a loud screeching noise. Given that was not the condition of my vehicle's driver side door when I arrived at Pep Boys, I returned to the counter and inquired about what happened to the door. The young man who worked on the car stated that "yes it was making a noise so he put WD-40 on it". I informed both the mechanic and John Litchfield ( The shift manager at the time) that the door was not in that condition when I arrived there, and that it would only open about 8 inches now. The mechanic, after telling me that the door was "making a noise" so he put WD-40 on it, then proceeded to ask me which door I was referring to which was extremely odd to me. He never informed me there was an issue prior to him putting WD- 40 on the door, nor did he tell me after the fact before I came in to address it. Under no circumstances was there any issue with my door prior to me visiting this location. I find it odd that he would neglect to mention it at any point in time, yet there was an issue with door that he felt needed some sort of remedy. John Litchfield informed me that it would have to be sent to corporate I would have to get two estimates and they would cover it, but also to call today on Monday to speak to Mr. Williams the store manager. As instructed, I did call to speak with Mr. Williams, and his position was that they are not obligated to inform me that there is an issue before performing any sort of service. He also I find that to be wildly absurd. He also informed me that we can put in a claim but he doesn't think it will go far, but he would called me back with a claim number today. I know that often Mechanics may see an issue and address it "your tire is low I topped off with some air", "you needed wiper fluid we filled it up" etc. But I have never had anything done to my car and I was not informed or made aware of it at any point. If there was an issue with the door I would naturally think the mechanic would say, Hey the door isn't opening is that normal? Or the door was a little squeaky I put WD-40 on it. What I do not ever expect nor will I accept is, I came into Pep Boys with a driver side door that had a full range of motion and no issues opening, and upon attempting to leave barley being able to open the door. Moreover, having to argue with your staff about what occurred. To say the least the way this issue has been handled thus far has been unprofessional and with little to no regard for customer service. I would like my door to be fixed and my issue addressed as soon as possible. If I could give 0 stars I would. I went to an advance auto parts to get a new battery and went to have their worker install it. The worker ended up dropping a bolt and breaking my coolant connector piece. I had to have my car towed and since it was 8 PM, Pep boys was the only one open. I had it towed to their lot and had to leave the car overnight. The next day I asked for them to give an estimate for the piece and labor to advanced auto parts. The mechanic said that all of my tubes were dry rotted and that the entire coolant system was corroded and I needed a system replacement (I had just taken my car in two weeks ago for a check engine light on, and a mechanic I trust told me that everything looked great, so I know that my tubes and system were fine). They also told me they could not get the one piece I knew I needed in until tomorrow. Advanced auto parts got the connector in that afternoon and went over to Pep boys and told them to use their piece that they were giving me and just do the labor. The worker in the store tried to upsale the piece to me from advance auto parts when she had said she was giving it to me!!! When I told them all I wanted was the piece replaced not the system replacement (which would have been $600), he said his mechanic would not touch my car for liability issues unless I received the entire system replacement. Also, on the estimate, the worker said they did a pressure test on my coolant system that was 45 dollars. It would have been impossible to do a pressure test, since the connector was broken and the tube was not even connected. I decided to take my car across the street to Mr. Tire to get a second opinion. The worker at Pep Boys told me over the phone I had to pay for their fluids check ($45) in order to get my car. I refused and being a woman, sent my fiance in the store to get the keys. Of course, they didn't ask him to pay anything but handed the keys over. Long story short, Mr. Tire took the piece I had been given and replaced the coolant connector piece and did a systems flush since air had entered the coolant system all for $130. When I asked the mechanic about the rest of the coolant system, he said everything else looked perfectly fine. Very, very disappointed with the service from Pep Boys and the mechanic in the store very clearly trying to rip me off. My advice is to avoid this store and go across the street to the Mr. Tire. The Mr. Tire had great customer service, reliable and trustworthy mechanics and my car was done very quickly. I will never return to this Pep Boys location. read more

I took my car in for two new tires. I asked that my spare be used on the front. I had a relatively new tire in the rear which we agreed could go on the front. I wanted to use the best of the three I was driving on as the spare. I should have marked the tires I wanted to save because this was more complicated than average but I did think they were experts at this and would be able to do it. When I picked up the car I did not check but the when I tested it I found there vibration at 60 MPH which I thought would be fixed by asking them to rebalance. When I took it in for rebalancing they said they could not fix it because the tire was too old. I then noticed that they had thrown away my good tire and left a bald one. I have no idea why they would do this because visually it was pretty obvious what tires were old. In any event, I now have to buy another tire. The people I dealt with were someone named Deone who I was very clear with about what needed to be done. I have no idea where things fell apart but I am out the price of a new tire. I will not buy my new tire from Pep Boys, who knows where they would put it or what I would get. read more

If I could give this store 0 stars I would. I walked in yesterday (9/6/16) I was told it would be a 2 hour wait and to leave my vehicle for a tire repair. I couldn't due to needing it for work. Said to the staff I will be back in the next morning. I came in (9/7/16) 10 minutes before the store was suppose to open. The store had not opened on time. I was waiting outside about 5 minutes after it was suppose to be open. Then I finally was let in. I had asked how long for a tire repair. I was told that the wait would be all day. And to leave my vehicle. I asked why and was told work from the previous day was not complete and that it was no guarantee that the tire repair I needed done would be done that day. And that the techs would be staggering in for start times. The young lady (who is an assistant Manager) had a "I don't care" attitude towards me like I had either offended her or did something wrong to her. Would I ever come back? Nope! I woke up this morning and realized I had a flat tire so off to pepboys I was towed. At first sight this location looked very big but come to find out the inside is separated between a service repair area and general area for products. The general area is plentiful with a variety of things that anyone would need for their car. Now the car repair area is small and very cramped with some employees who don't appear to be the most professional. When I got the print out it said the cost for one tire and repair would cost $503 an I said "hell no! That can't be right" nearly had a heart attack but the guy reprinted the cost to $113. The guy then stated we could work a deal giving me a discount. I thought great I like discounts! He offered to do it for $75 and I accepted. 25 minutes later my car is done and he requested I pay in cash as this was "his" deal and discount ....so I went to an ATM pulled the cash and gave it to the mechanic outside. It was a bit shady than what I'm used to but I only paid $75 so it wasn't all bad. Would I return?? Hmm not if Firestone is open. read more

He than turn to the customers that he was ringing you up in front of me and asked the customer did he have a job the guy said no so he asked the guy did the girl that he was with work, the guy said of course she do. He than said I feel like a man shouldn't be living with a woman if he doesn't work. The female customer spoke up and said how do you know we live together. Mr woody said because I said you do. Mr Woody also asked the young man did he have a criminal background. Mr Woody finally turned his attention towards me and I told him I was there to get 2 tires mounted on my car we went thru a list of things I needed and when I question him about something that I didn't understand he said (Declined) ... I told him I didn't declined anything I'm asking you to explain to me what your suggestion. He than told me that he doesn't talk customers into anything that they don't want...I mention to him again that I didn't declined anything I'm asking you to explain to me what is it that I need... he than called another associate over to help him, when the other associate got to the computer he earse everything that was on the screen. He started putting my information in computer again and after a couple of min he than yelled across the room to the associate that came to help him that I'm not doing this ticket you can have it and walked off.... The associate came over and I explain to him what I needed and my ticket was wrote in five minutes he even explain to me what I was asking Mr Woody to explain to me... Unfortunately, I recently purchased a battery with Pepboys. I installed the new battery myself and returned the old battery for the core return. It took me half hour wait to get the refund because the manager won't go to the register to approve the return. He would help other customers who were buying who came after me. I had to call the manager and follow him by the service area to get my refund. The store made some renovation but the personnel and customer serviced went downhill. Whoever field management is running the store does not have the full control of this business. I should have done to Advance Auto, a mile away. read more

The 1 employee took me to a waiting area & said he'd take care of my tire & showed me the bolt that was lodged in there. After waiting 1hr 15 mins, I approached the man who said he'd take care of my tire. He fled away from me, so I couldn't even ask what took so long. I stood in a very slow line to check out. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had in an automotive shop. I arrived 15 early for my appointment, (6:45pm, appointment at 7pm). I not only made it there in 695 rush hour traffic, but had time to pick up my daughter and grab her a quick bite. I should've known things were going to be bad, when I came through the door with my 4 yr old, another patron seemed to be waiting-- and irritated. She said she was making a return and everyone just disappeared. I stood at the counter labeled appointments, after 5 minutes. A very heavy-set employee came around the corner and made eye contact with me-- then proceeded to disappear, no "hello" or "someone will be right with you." After a few seconds the man came back out and said "yes?". I said, "hello, I'm here for my 7pm appointment." The gentleman frowned and shook his head. I said, " you're open til 8 pm correct?" He was clearly annoyed and told me they don't do appt that late. I took out my printed confirmation, handed it to him, he rolled his eyes and took down my info. All in all the oil change was fast. But these ppl know NOTHING about customer service. I won't be back. #promise read more

Based on my experience this morning, I was ready to rate this store a 2. Based on my experience this evening and compared to the Pep Boys on Joppa road, I raised my rating to a 4. This morning, the guy that rung me up was kinda slow. He was even having a conversation with another employee about how tired he was. He also didn't hesitate to let me carry 2 rotors, pads, 3 hardware boxes, and a bottle of brake quite from the back to the front on my own. It was quite a balancing act, and rotors are pretty heavy. Like all terrible diy mechanics, I ordered extra parts, so I had returns this evening. I tried returning to the store on Joppa road, but Steve told me you couldn't return items to another store. He directed me back to the Liberty road store. Sounds fishy, so I currently have an email in to Pep Boys customer service to clarify that policy. Anyway, Devon helped me out this evening. After a long day of working on my car, I was tired. I was also a little ticked off based on my Joppa road experience. Devon was quick and friendly. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Having said all of this, there are a few things about this store that are not so great. Both times I walked in, the cash registers up front were a ghost town. I had to wait a few minutes before someone came to help me. Also, the the cash register area is pretty messy. I guess it must be returns that need to be re-stocked? Another review mentioned how organized the store is. That certainly is not what I experienced. Also, the trash can in the parking lot was stacked about 18 in above the rim. Overall, the store just seemed kind of messy. Maybe I hit them on a bad day. I would go back to this store. It was a lot better than waiting on the yahoos at advanced auto. Remember, my overall rating is 4. Yeah, there were some negatives, but it wasn't that bad. read more

I have had my Chrysler Town and Country minivan for about 8 years now and it is still running in great condition due to Pep Boys Services. I met the manager Chris at the Baltimore National Pike location years ago and he was very professional and explained things to me about my car where I could understand. He helped me make the best financial decisions concerning the repairs of my vehicle by letting me know of the coupons and reminding me of my rewards points through Pep Boys. He also let me know about upcoming maintenance work way ahead of time so I could budget accordingly to keep my van running efficiently. Needless to say I was heart broken when I found out he was no longer at the Baltimore National Pike location. However, I found out where he was and followed him there. I feel very comfortable and trust his professionalism. The last time I brought my van in there was an issue with the parts for my car, (it took a whole day) for them to be delivered for my van to be fixed. Kwame continued to call the parts store throughout the day and kept me updated as to the progress. He was scheduled to get off at a certain time but stayed until 8:00 pm until my van was fixed and I picked it up. He was not paid overtime for staying. I commend him for his service! King stayed with Kwame through this process as well and helped to keep me grounded. I really appreciate them and all that Pep Boys has done for me over the years to keep my van running in the best shape for the age and mileage it has on it. I'm very green behind the ears when it comes to car maintenance and repairs and these guys really help me stay on track so I don't have hefty van repairs. I downloaded this app for the sole purpose of this review. The people were very nice that having been said I went to this location because the first Pep Boys location I went to told me they would have a mechanic but when I got there there was no mechanic so I go to this location and I'll call before I go and they said there's definitely a mechanic here when I got there they couldn't perform the service because the mechanic was leaving. So I come back to drop my car off when I get a ride they told me the next day that they couldn't even perform the service on my car because it's a German car so I get that but it's like astonishing because you knew that long in advance and also European cars have been imported to the states for probably 80 years when are you going to start fixing them how can you be America's garage? So that was a huge waste of time as well read more
