MINUSES: incompetent repairs at times, understated repair turnaround times (an hour means at least six hours), staff is sometimes rude and hard to deal with. I always seem to get the most help from This car part place than other ones in my area. They always seem to have the parts I need in stock right away at the store instead of waiting for it to come on- which is a plus also! I came in on my recent visit for spark plug wires and needed oil and an oil filter. They had a special running when you buy a gallon of specific oil you get the filter for free so I put back what I initially grabbed and got the deal! The staff is so helpful and Friendly and quick to help a woman in need of car parts! Every time I come I usually get the same guy who's back in the parts department and he's knowledgeable and listens to me as I explain what I think I might need and is patient with me. I ended up coming in about 3 other times this day to grab a few more parts that were needed- before calling first to make sure they had it so I didn't waste a trip! They did and my car which was once shaking and making thumping sounds now runs well without any issues. I'd recommend this spot for the customer service and the help in the parts department. I honestly never even thought about having maintenance work done here. Hubby needed new tires and Jen and Chris were so helpful and nice making sure we got the best deal. After such a great experience, I decided to get my front brakes and oil change done here. Again, Jen and Chris helped me out, I love how friendly and genuine they are to their customers. I had originally taken my car to a garage for inspection and didn't trust or want them doing my brakes, I wish I had just come here first because their price for an inspection was $20 less then I had paid. Lesson learned, I am going to come here for all my automotive work. The brake pads are a lifetime warranty. They also have a rewards program that you earn money towards your next purchases. I wish I could tell everyone to come here, it is hard to find a place you trust, that is not going to rip you off or tell you your car needs more than it really does. read more

I was traveling through when I noticed the tires on the car I was driving were bald. It was a Saturday morning and I needed 2 new tires to be installed that day so I could continue my journey. I expected to wait as I didn't have an appointment or arrive first thing, but they helped me out and tried to get me out as soon as they could. My wait was not nearly as long as I was expecting. The employees that day also seem to like working together, which I appreciate. I think the service manager was Gio. Happy employees make happy customers. So I said I would never get my car fixed again at pepboys and I hold my word on that. But i did say if I needed something to do with accessories that I would go back to pepboys and get that. Well I did a week ago and seems that it didn't go well eaither. Had to pick something up went to get in line. Ask the guy if the part fit my car tells me Yes. Very nasty, seems like he don't know how to talk to customers. Then pay for the item go to slide my card comes up error about 4 times. Then Tryed to put the numbers in when he went to do that the computer and all freezed up waited over 25 min and after everything was all up and running it did it again with the error. I gave up and just used cash to get what I needed. I just don't have any luck going to pepboys. No matter what it's for. I'm completely done going hear or to any. As many issues that I have had. My husband takes his truck here for regular oil changes and getting his yearly inspection done. Never had any issues with walking in without an appointment. I credit this to bringing the truck in nice & early and not having a time crunch as an issue. We dropped it off this morning at 1030am for the inspection as well as an oil change. We were told since we didn't make an appointment, it'd be awhile. 3 hours later, we get a call saying the truck is ready for pickup. All is well , truck runs great, no complaints. I recently had a terrible experience at this location. I went in for a simple plug in my tire and was told it would take 45 minutes. Two hours later I was called and told I needed two new tires. Since I just bought my tires in August, I questioned this - not to mention when I came in I only had one problem tire. I was told the (extremely small) nail had damaged my new tire to the point I needed a new one and it could not be plugged. Immediately this was concerning to me so I picked up my car and asked them not to do anything; however, the nail was already plugged by them but they said it would not last. I took my car to a reputable dealer right down the street who confirmed that the small nail in the rear tire was plugged perfectly fine by Pepboys and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the other tire. This event happened over a month ago and ALL four of my tires have been working perfectly fine since the ONE plug. Long story short - this location tried lying to me to upsell me two new tires. Such a disgrace. Part of me wants to give them +5 for a very certain aspect of the experience I had there, while on the other hand they clearly deserve -5. On the bright side, if you tell them you are in a hurry, they will try to work faster on your car (otherwise they are extremely slow and short handed). However, they ruin it when they prevent you from checking out, and by you being friendly to them and vice versa, they must assume subconsciously that it is perfectly ok to let everybody get by before you while you wait to pay. So all in all, take the 5 stars and the -5 and they got 1 star from me, to what could have easily been 5 or 4 stars experience. My advise, stick to your mechanic, unless you have no choice but to go to a Pepboys shop. Waiting seem to be their biggest problem combined with disorganization. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED AT PEP BOYS ON BUSTLETON AVE! In fact, don't get your car serviced at any Pep Boys store, find yourself a good mechanic. If you go to Pep Boys, you will surely have continuous problems that will cost you more and more money. Customer service is barely existent in the Pep Boys world. They have led me on, made me promises, and nothing gets done. This is the story of an EPIC FAIL on the part of pep boys. I have called the customer service line and tried to work with them many times, my case# is: 668765. My car is currently rotting in the parking lot of the bustleton ave store for ONE MONTH! THEY BROKE IT, AND HAVEN'T FIXED IT. I checked on it last night. they left it unlocked again (I have told them about this before), the BRAND NEW battery is now dead, AND THE TIRES ARE GOING FLAT. During an alternator installation in Aug, they broke the bracket, and didn't want to take responsibility for it. Even though i had photographic evidence that they broke it. finally, after many calls to customer service, area mgr BRYAN CALDERON ROSADO (856-982-3607) took responsibility and promised to have my car fixed at no cost to me. But Bryan has stopped communicating with me (my last message from him was Sept 24, and he has ignored my emails since). and since then, they have transferred the shop manager of that store, and nobody in the store knows anything about my car! They lost the work order, AND THEY CAN'T FIND THE KEY TO MY CAR! Twice recently I have visited the store and nobody in the store knows anything about my car! I am not going to stand for this anymore! I am starting an all out internet campaign to let unsuspecting customers know to not go to Pep boys for service. The company preys on low income people who can't find reputable mechanics with the promise of low cost service, but then they make sure these customers have to keep coming back by sabotaging the cars they work on. My next step is the go directly to the corporate office, with all the proof of the misdeeds by it's employees, I am also preparing this message to be sent to Harry Hairston & The NBC investigators, and will get a lawyer if i have to. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income, I only work part time, I have missed work and wages because of this, I have missed doctor appts because of this, I have incurred expenses because of this, (I have had to rent a car the last 3 weekends) and I am mad as hell and not going to take it anymore! For the past 3 weeks, I have had a worse experience with Pep Boys than any other company that I've dealt with in my life. I went to the Pep Boys on Red Lion Rd. for a standard oil change in early December. Oil leaked from my car and caused it to stall near my house later in the month. I towed it to Pep Boys on Street Rd. in Bensalem. The first thing they asked after they called me was where I got my last oil change from. I said Pep Boys on Red Lion Rd. They told me they put on a "faulty oil filter." He said there could be other damage to the engine. I took it to the Hyundai dealership where they confirmed damage to the engine and costs of repairs of about $3,000. This was because Pep Boys "did a really bad job" on my oil change according to the adviser at the dealership. I opened a complaint against the Red Lion Rd. store. After 3 days and after we were hung up on by a representative at Pep Boys customer relations, we found out that one of the store managers closed the case without us knowing. This was after we were told that the district manager would be contacting us regarding the complaint. We were finally able to reopen the complaint and received a call from the district manager who opened a claim for the vehicle to be inspected for approval for repairs. I was told that someone would come to look at the vehicle sometime within the next few days. I was assigned a claims professional who was supposed to contact me immediately. I have spent all week trying to get into contact with her, and she has not responded to any of my messages. I called customer relations again yesterday morning and even they were unable to bring in anyone from the claims department on the line to help. She escalated it to the claims supervisor with the assurance that it would result in a quick call back. I received no call back. We left a message for the claims director later in the day and still received no response. I sent an email to the store managers, claims professional, and customer relations yesterday simply asking to know when I can expect my car to be looked at and have received no response. This is causing a great deal of stress in my life as this has dragged on for over 3 weeks. Customer relations and the district manager told me to keep my receipt from Enterprise as part of my claim, but I have to call every other day to extend the rental period not knowing when I will get my car back. Hundreds of dollars in rental fees are pending against my account, and it is becoming financially burdensome for me. This is my only means of transportation to work. I hope that I can update my review with better news soon, but so far this company has showed no compassion and no urgency for the damage they've caused to me and my vehicle. read more

The worst! An appointment means noticing. I understand a wait, but 45 minutes and they didn't even bring the car in and my entire appointment was supposed to take 40 minutes. I mentioned more than once I had to be out at a certain time. No apologies from them, just excuses. And when I made the spot they had the part (battery) in stock, when I get there they don't even carry the brand anymore, so how did they have it 2 days previously? It was a warranty battery and then they say, they need to do an entire diagnostic to check the alternator, probably to sell me something I don't need. I only went there because it was under warranty. Do not take your vehicle to this location, service mgr will charge you for services you didn't authorize then refuse to give your keys/vehicle back. I took my car in to simply find out what the dash warning light was for, mgr calls me 45 minutes later telling me what the problem was and that it would cost $1200. I told him no way, I'll come get it, 15 minutes later when I got there he tells me they did an inspection, which I didn't ask for and that the bill was $135. Why would I get a vehicle inspected that I know would fail because of the light? Why would he perform an inspection on a vehicle he knew would fail by state law? Shady service manager, he will try to rob you. I took it to a reputable mechanic and he charged me only $600, pep boys want $1,200. Again, shady. read more

What a complete joke. They replaced my radiator in August and it continued to overheat all year. Just took it back because it overheated again. They called, "you need rotors, and brakes (sorry, it just passed inspection!! and I never asked them to look at my brakes), you need a timing belt and a water pump" (literally both done in the last year!). The tire I purchased over a month ago burst and I had to get a new one. Here is where the story continues, part 2. I went in and told the employees there that I purchased a tire over a month ago and it had burst, I had the tire with me. They asked for my name and phone number to look it up. They couldn't find any record of the tire purchase. I told them that was impossible because I wrote a review for the bad service for that same tire. They wanted me to spend $180 for a new tire because they couldn't find a record. I told them to hold still and I'll come back with the receipt. 10 minutes later I come back with the receipt, apparently they wrote the wrong phone number. Now I can get a 'free' replacement. Fast forward 1 hour and I get the new tire. The employee asks me to go to the register to pay. A young lady rings me up and says $83. I pay and thought, that's alittle high. Turns out it was another mistake. Wait 10 minutes to fix the problem and get it down to $43. tldr: tried to replace tire. I wasn't in the system. Found old receipt at home. They tried to charge me for something else. Left after 2+ hours for a simple tire change. EDIT: why would you call me at 8pm for a customer review? Not even close to business hours. read more

They took my car in right away and finished my oil change fast. But they failed to come tell me it was done when I told them I was waiting in the waiting room. Since I had nowhere else to b I decided to wait and after 20mins I asked about my car and they said my 2 break bulbs were out. That's not the problem, the problem is they didnt even check the waiting room for me or even try to call me. Then they said I can go and pay, so I go to the other service desk and wait for him to get done and then he tells me "oh u pay for that on retail side." Thanks for wasting 10more mins. So 1hr 12mins later I finally leave and my car was done for 42 of those mins just sitting there looking pretty read more

I am completely disappointed about the lack of cleanliness at all of their locations. I know that they repair vehicles here but the entire store (including the exterior) should not look and feel like a dirty mechanic shop. The merchandise AND shelves are dirty and covered in dust. The windows, doors, floors, entryway carpet, etc. are ALL dirty. I refuse to believe that they cannot afford to pay a small business to clean the store (including the doors and windows). Please do not even get me started on the bathrooms. And customer service in really does NOT exist. read more

Save yourself the trouble and do not come here. Have had excellent experiences at the King of Prussia location I usually go to. Figured we would save time and go to a local shop in the city. Big mistake. They accept appointments they cannot fulfill and have no consideration for anyone's time. You can make an appointment for 8 a.m and be told a technician is not available until 9 a.m just for you to finally be seen for them to ask for hard copies for PA state registrations which no longer get mailed out. Quickly retrieved a hard copy while car was waiting to be seen and still waited 3 hours for a routine inspection- No follow up or Check In regarding the status of the appointment and never even had the car looked at. Ended up taking keys and leaving. Management does not care. I'd say that goes for the integrity of how they would potentially handle your vehicle as well. read more

Horrible. Had inspection done and my car's computer wasn't reading the emissions. Got that fixed. Came back to redo the inspection and suddenly it wouldn't pass unless I got my brakes and rotors replaced. Since I needed my inspection completed, I just took the hit and paid. Now, i'm comparing my receipt to their website and they robbed me of over $100+. Would NEVER recommend coming here unless you prefer to be swindled. You're better off going to the dealership, and that says a lot. read more

I wouldn't suggest for anyone to bring their car to this Pep Boys. The mechanics are incompetent to the point I think they were trained via google, especially mechanic Barry Osman. The Manager Kristopher Malone is a pompous idiot. I had axle replaced by Pep Boys in April the work was done by Barry Osman after receiving my car back it makes a thumping noise coming from the area where the work was done when I' go from brake to gas. When I returned to Pep Boys a different mechanic advised that the axle was not properly inserted. That did not alleviate the problem so I returned 2 other times the final time Manager Kristopher Malone was there he had the incompetent mechanic Barry Osman place my car on the lift though I advised that issue occurs when I'm driving Kristopher Malone then advised that noise was coming from transmission. I went to Honda who checked my transmission and found nothing wrong with transmission they further shared in my conclusion that Pep Boys employs bottom of the barrel mechanics. Ultimately do not go to the Pep Boys location unless you want more issues than what you initially go in for. read more

I am not one to write reviews about businesses, but this was just horrible. First of all, the service there is unbelievably slow. It took them an hour and 15 minutes to change my oil, even though I was there from the minute they opened their doors. It was not busy only two cars. The workers just took their time and chitchatted with one another. Second of, when my stepdad opened the hood of my car he noticed that there was oil EVERYWHERE. They did not wipe the spills, just left it. Third of all, they did not notify me that any of my liquids needed to be refilled. Fourth of all, the service worker who changed my oil did not know simple math. The oil that I got is good for 3,000 miles. I am currently at 5,700 miles. So the next time I would need to change my oil is 8,700 miles. On my sticker he wrote 6,010, that is obviously NOT 3,000 miles. I would never recommend their services to anyone. read more

I am thankful that there are still honest people in the world- especially mechanics. I took my car to pep boys today for a second opinion after the dealer told me that my car needed new valve cover gaskets due to a leak. The staff was so helpful as well as honest. They did a dye test, visual inspection, and even asked me if I was sure I needed new valve cover gaskets and who told me that I did because my car was bone dry and there weren't leaks anywhere. They could have tried to rip me off like the dealership since I know nothing about cars but they didn't and I am so thankful for that. I will definitely do business with this location again. Took me no more than 5 minutes to have an associate Justin ask me about all my auto concerns, suggested options available and bring me needed part. Hardly ever I got such easy and fast service. I stopped in today to ask a question regarding my fuel pump relay. I was directed to the service desk, and then redirected to the parts desk, and once again sent back to the service desk. As I was going back to the service desk, I had the pleasure of hearing the mechanic say he could help me, but he doesn't want too. I then tried to ask him a few questions, since he wouldn't help me, and I couldn't even get him to tell me the name of the item he said I needed to buy. I had to go back to the parts desk, where I was at least shown the aisle I needed. I received no assistance, nothing, but attitude. I have never in my life, seen such horrible customer service, and I honestly would never go back to pep boys. read more

I went to this store because I was in a bind . I went on reputation and brand name. Boy, was that a big mistake. I was in need of a new battery so after a few attempts at other places to no avail I went to " reliable Pep Boys " the old battery tested bad and I could get a replacement for the "low" cost of 126.00 . The sales people had no trouble taking the cash. The labels on the battery as to when it was made were faulty , in my opinion as well as A.A.A. who came out to me 5 times since the purchase of this new battery. Each of the service people from A.A.A. said the battery wasn't good . Well when I went back to get some satisfaction the everyone in the place gave me a hard time. One lady told I didn't need to get"so nasty" . I try damm hard to speak kindly to service personnel for it is not easy to work with the public. One man I spoke with was somewhat reasonable to talk to but that was it out of six or seven service peoples. The battery got recharged after another day of waiting for an appointment.
