I get it, you hate your job and you would rather be less busy - Take that up with your manager. I booked an appointment for a late afternoon (3pm) oil change, and then about 2 hours later it was cancelled by pep boys thru their online system. When I called them and spoke they said "we didn't delete it, but regardless we can't help you today, we are trying to clean our floors and you may not get your car back by end of day". I just don't think this is how you do business, none of us want to do an oil change and I have other things I'd rather do with my time, but you had several online appointments available to choose from, and to cancel my appointment without any context and then to discourage me from having the service done today is terrible. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars with Pepboys over 20 years, and can't say I feel like I'll ever return. read more

Brought my vehicle in on a AAA tow on 5/28/2019 for a bad alternator that had me on the side of the road earlier that morning. Shop reviews price, roughly $300 for a overpriced reman unit, and I wait onsite for the repair. Not once, but several times, 2 workers in the shop can be heard and seen cursing, screaming and about to get into a physical fight within the waiting room window. Vehicle is done, bill is paid and I head out. 35 mins later, I am in Orlando and I hear a constant banging in the front end. I pull over, pop the hood and the serpentine, gatorback belt is shredding badly. Someone overtightened the pulley, trying to hide that they didn't put the pulley back on properly all the way. Furious, I called the shop back, to ask "seriously?", as the manager who answered, sounded taken back, but not surprised on the phone. I hung up, made a few phonecalls, and got a mechanic I knew to pick up a gatorback at a auto parts supply store and to put the belt on for me and check over their work to make sure I'd actually be able to drive this vehicle back home safely. I never, ever bring my vehicle to a Pep Boys, as I've had similar issues in the past, but never like this. The shop I usually used had the owner out of town, and this was recommended as a last ditch option for me by a friend. This was not a authorized AAA repair center, even though AAA mentioned it at the time of tow and on the call - besides this - I will absolutely never bring any vehicle I drive, own, operate or am responsible for to any Pep Boys location ever again. read more

Terrible customer service. I came in to check if there was a nail in my tire and the employee didn't greet me or do anything of that manner. I explained the problem and he proceeded to go to my car and check the sensors not checking if there's a nail in my tire and then told me I needed 4 new tires and 2 new sensors. Which I just got a new tire a year ago and then the others a couple years ago (but less than 4 years). When all I asked was if he could check if there's a nail. I told him to just fill it up with air instead. After I told him thank you when he was done, he just walked away and didn't say anything. I don't know if he was just having a bad day, but there's no excuse for that. read more

Everyone go see Ron and Jonathan at Pep Boys! I took my car in to have my AC checked, and they were so quick and efficient with the work. My AC is working perfectly :) Ron was very communicative in letting me know what exactly was going on and how much it would be. No extra fees or trying to sell me on other services. We've been going to pep boys since 2020 and have never had issues. They were actually able to diagnose something on my husbands car that several Nissan dealerships couldn't figure out. Bottom line was told i needed a new condenser (2019 Altima) 1400 later my ac still doesn't work only to be told now by them the problem is a leak in the hose . Adding insult to injury they didn't do a dye test in the first place apparently, the ac didn't work after the "new condenser" was installed. Not to mention when I returned the car they stated they didn't have a tech available for a couple of weeks. When I questioned why I was sold a condenser if there was a leak in the hose I was asked if I was implying I had been taken advantage off !!!!!! Terrible service and quite honestly it seemed like a total con! Now I'm off to seek a true mechanic who takes pride in their work and customer service. read more

This Pepboy has been our main mechanic for the last five years. The customer service has always been excellent, and their manager Ron is fantastic. The one time we didn't go to Pepboys was to change the thermostat in our Jeep Renegade. The dealership quoted us 1000 dollars to replace the thermostat. We decided to go back to Pepboys, and they quoted us 300 dollars. Since this last situation, we will always take our cars to Pepboys. read more

My dad used to go here for years back when they were "Big 10" tires and was always happy with the service. I serviced here for a few years as well and was happy. This was prior to the Pep Boys buy out. Even though they have the same manager as they had prior, they have become selective on service and have misquoted prices and even refused service presumably due to not wanting to waste time when they could focus on easier and more profitable oil changes and tire swaps - their specialty. Since moving back to the area I have had a few frustrating visits. First, I had my AC go out on my Pontiac (admittedly not a cheap part to source or simple fix) in the central Florida Summer of 2016. Pep Boys told me they would have to drop the engine and it would cost thousands to replace if they could do it at all (basically rejecting the job). I freaked out a bit and called around for a better quote and stupidly told other repair shops that "the engine would need to be dropped to fix the part." Naturally, other shops said they could not do the job if dropping the engine was involved. I ended up taking it to the dealer who quoted a *lower price*. SHOCKING, right? After the repair, I did ask, "did you need to drop the engine?" GM said, "no, who told you the engine needed to be dropped?" Didn't feel good. I may have saved hundreds just going elsewhere. I did end up going back to Pep Boys for a tune up in early Fall 2016 after calling around. Hey, they had the best quote! Well, they *misquoted* me on the job which ended up costing me a lot more because of the work and parts involved. Clearly, I am not a car expert, and someone with more knowledge would have known better. I had gone to Sears earlier for a quote and they had quoted me the high price up front and honestly and that I should watch out if someone was quoting low. Sears was very clear about the work involved and outlined exactly what ended up needing to be done. Not sure if it was incompetence or trying to get me in the door but this Pep Boys location called half way through the service only to tell me it would end up costing as much as Sears had quoted for the exact work that Sears quoted. Moral of the story, this does not seem to be the "mom and pop" kind of service I experienced growing up and in high school. I want to be as fair as possible, and I don't think this shop is out to "screw people over" but don't expect the folks here to look out for you. By contrast, I had a great experience at Sears for both tires and my tune up quote. I value customer service, especially not knowing much and that is worth the peace of mind and paying a bit more. If you know what you're talking about, try Pep Boys. Their work is solid. But my experience with their customer service has been very disappointing. read more

My brother-in-law uses this place all the time so I thought I would give them a chance. My daughter's 2008 Ford Escape had the brake master cylinder go out. I had already called some other places so I already knew the going rate for the repair. They quoted me a fair price that was better than any of the others. It ended up being a tricky repair (partially because I failed to give them all of the symptoms) and they spent a lot of extra time on it. They didn't charge me any extra, in fact, the final price ended up lower than the original quote. They were super-courteous through the whole experience and didn't try to tack on a bunch of unneeded services. I was very impressed and will recommend this Pep Boys to everyone I know. read more

I pulled my overheating SUV into the Pep Boys Oviedo parking lot. I left it there with the notion that the service men would give me an estimate on what was malfunctioning with my vehicle. They wanted $612 for a radiator, bottom hose, and thermostat, plus labor. I couldn't afford that so I had my insurance company tow it home. I bought the parts at Napa for half the price of Pep Boys. A friend came over to install my new radiator. He looked and looked and looked only to find there were no cracks in my radiator. He installed the bottom hose ($10), filled the car with fluid and I was set to go. Cost me $60 for my friend and $10 for the part. Pep Boys is a rip off taking advantage of a woman who knows a thing or two about cars. Oh, and I got to return the unused radiator and thermostat; giving me a $200 credit. read more

First off let me say that I am retired and worked in the automotive field so I know cars. I was on vacation when I had a left front brake caliper hang up. I checked it out and decided to take it to the closest shop seeing that I didn't have the tools to repair it myself. I took it to the Pep Boys repair shop in Oviedo and was told I needed a complete front brake job to the tune of $$$. I said no that it only need a left front caliper. I was told that they wouldnt do the job because it wasn't worth it for them. So I agreed to do the L&R calipers and bleed the brakes. When I went to pick up my car I was handed a bill for about $434. I said that was too much. They got the bill down to $377 which was still way high but I paid it to get out of there. When I checked the bill I found that I was charged $118 for each caliper when I could have gone 2 miles down the road to the Pep Boys parts store and bought them for $45 a piece on sale. Did I get ripped off, you be the judge. read more

I live in North Florida. My son, a college student, lives in Orlando. He took his car for the second time to this location and Kyle has helped him each time (full brake job the first time and then overheating issue the second time). Let me tell you something about Kyle -- this guy has a heart of gold. I can't get into the details of the transaction for personal reasons, but he made this second experience even more memorable than the first. I spoke to him on the phone and he explained the issue with our car, then went above and beyond any service station I've ever encountered... ever! Nobody does what Kyle did, and trust me when I say he went above and beyond. God will bless him and that shop because of him . Mgt is fortunate to have an employee like Kyle. He truly takes care of his customers. My son was speechless. I won't send my son anywhere else when there are professionals like Kyle working at pep boys. Go see him, you won't regret it. read more

I have been taking my cars here for the last 12+ years and I am never disappointed. The mechanics who work here have been here since before this was a Pep Boys (back when it was called Big Ten Tires) and they really know what they're doing. I come here for routine oil changes, tires, breaks, and any other issues I have with my car. Josh and Ron are always so helpful and make me feel very comfortable. There are no pushy salesmen here, unlike many other local tire shops. If you have a problem with your car, they will tell you exactly what is wrong with it and what parts you MUST purchase as well as any additional parts you might WANT to purchase but aren't 100% necesssary to make the repair. I truly trust every mechanic here and know that they will take excellent care of my car and not jerk me around with a bunch of things that I don't need. I would absolutely recommend THIS Pep Boys to anyone looking for excellent service and a quality job well done. Other Pep Boys do not have the reputation that this location does! The staff here is why I will never go anywhere else. read more

I took my car here for several years while I was in college. After being ripped off at several other places, I gave this shop ( previously Big 10 Tires) a shot. They replaced my brakes at a reasonable cost and gave me a good explanation of why it needed to be done. A few times I took the car in with weird sounds and they told me that it was a small problem and would need to be fixed eventually but not right then. They were always very friendly, fast and reasonably priced. I've since moved out of town and am STILL trying to find a shop as good as this place. read more

Went in for an alignment on my leveled truck and needed to install a part to adjust camber. Tried to charge me "at least an hour" of labor for something it would take me 15 minutes to install in my driveway, this was also after he quoted me less to do it. Making an appointment online doesn't even register in their system so they'll triple book or more. The manager at this location is absolutely terrible. I purposely called their location before coming in to make sure I could use a voucher I was given from another location right down the street and he told me to come on in. I get there and he proceeded to tell me that I could not use it at that location. It was a complete waste of time and I will NEVER be back. I wouldn't even give this place one star if I could. Over 20 years of having my vehicles serviced here and always courteous, friendly, trust worthy service. I moved to Melbourne a few years ago and have not been able to find a repair shop that compares. The Melbourne shops either they tell me that I do not need service (which I know I do) or they tell me that the service has to be done right away (which I know it does not). This Pep Boys (previously Big 10) have always looked at my vehicle and provided a list of issues or non-issues, a knowlegable list of options along with a quote for repair. PLEASE READ: I'm not one to normally write bad reviews as I usually just write this type of thing off as a learning experience and move on. But having now had a couple days to think, I just can't ignore the way this business treated me. After getting several recommendations I decided to bring my wife's vehicle here to address an overheating issue. The staff were all very friendly and I dropped the vehicle off feeling hopeful that I would have a better experience here than I'd had at other businesses. I received a call from these guys about 3 hours later where they explained what was causing the issue and how they would repair it. This was further reassuring to me as I knew what the problem was before taking them the vehicle and had even researched what it was likely going to cost to repair. The gentleman I spoke with was very friendly and said he'd even be able to offer me some coupons or discounts off whatever the cost would be. I thought "great, these guys know how to treat customers." We hung up the phone without him actually going over what the cost would be but I figured whatever it was would be reasonable given how minor the repair was. A couple hours later I received another call stating the vehicle was ready and good to go. After a little more friendly banter I told him I'd be down later to pick up the vehicle and before hanging up I asked him what the final bill was. He quoted me for 1.3 hrs. of labor plus parts and again mentioned that the final bill would of course be less with any added discounts he could get me. Mind you, I had already researched the cost of the part he replaced so when he told me the total cost I thought he was surely joking. All the van needed was a heater hose assembly which is available online for as low as $25. As this part is easily removed and replaced, I was a little taken aback by the 1.3 hours he says it took but was floored when he quoted me $589! He responded to my disbelief by again saying he'd be able to lower that with some coupons or other discounts and I hung up wondering what the heck the deal was. When I later went to pick up the vehicle, I took a peek at the initial bill and it wasn't $589, it was $627! They must have known I was about to lose it so they pretended to act as if they didn't know why it was so high and disappeared into the garage to presumably speak with the mechanic. They returned and started typing something on the computer and eventually asked me to come around and look at their screen. They showed me an invoice which was supposed to show their cost for the hose assembly which was $105. They discounted some of the other items and reduced the bill down to a final charge of $398.78. I usually avoid dealerships due to their high labor rates ($130+/hr) and endless maintenance recommendations but I'm quite sure even they wouldn't have charged such a ridiculous amount. I guess I should be happy that instead of paying the $262.57 they originally wanted to charge me for a $25 hose assembly I ended up only paying $145 (after markup)! By avoiding the $130+/hr. labor at the dealership I was fortunate enough to have paid $185.90 at only $143/hr., though once you include the labor they added in for draining whatever was left in the radiator I actually paid them $217.49 for 1.3 hrs. labor. To be fair, they did give me a $6.48 discount on the $14.99 gallon of antifreeze they advertise for $12.74 on their website. Even ignoring the $26 in taxes I still ended up paying about twice as much as I should have by the time I left there. It was in looking over my receipt again that the egregiousness of what transpired hit me. The strategy of overcharging me a ridiculous amount only to get me to accept them still grossly overcharging me worked flawlessly. My brother's a mechanic up north in Michigan and even he was shocked that a corporately owned establishment could be so brazen and figures these guys must work on some type of commission. If you value your money, do yourself a favor and don't lose any to these guys, they'll steal as much from you as you'll let them. read more

Pep boys does not do ANYTHING for less. They should change their slogan. I had a strange rattling noise coming from my car while driving so I had them check it out while also changing my oil. They charged me $20 just to take my car around the block and listen for the noise. You could have heard it just on the drive from the parking lot to the garage. They found a small part just bent out of place so they bent it back into place. After changing my oil they came back to me with a list of things that should be done to my car. It totaled $1200! My car only has $40k miles on it, give me a break. I looked into getting my tires replaced by them and they wanted almost $700 for tires and install. I decided to shop around first and every single place I called for a quote was $400-500 for the exact same tires with installation. This place is a joke. read more

I just wanted to tell all about my great experience at this location. First I had visited 4 different locations. I had a silly request my license plate was hanging off and the screw had to be drilled out. I first stopped at Goodyear the Tech told Paul who appeared to be the boss that he could do the Job. Well I had no Idea how much it would cost but what I was quoted. Was a bit of a shock, 50 DOLLARS to take out the screw. Well I thanked them thinking to myself if it cost 50 dollars for a screw I don't want to know what it would cost for a Tire Yikes!!! Then I Visited a few more places they were busy, willing to help but I would have to come back and it would cost 30 dollars. then I visited Pep boys I had gone here in the past and was pleased with there work.then I came in and told Ron about my problem he stopped what he was doing and came and had a look. He took my car immediately and had someone work on it. With in minutes it was fixed. And the charge was Zero with a smile on his face told me to have a great day. You just don't get such friendly professional service like this anymore. Guess we're I am GOIING when I need work done. I suggest you do as well. Thanks Ron for making my Day !!
