Folks have some strong opinions about this place. All I can say is I went in for an alignment and they did the work competently at a fair price. The only complaint I'd make is corporate really needs to do something with the closed retail area. It looks dumpy with a big section barricaded off like it is. DO NOT HAVE YOU'RE CARS SERVICED HERE !!!! My vehicle was serviced for an oil change and I was there for 3.5 hrs for them to then tell me I needed a new oil pan because the plug was stripped ! That was told to me 2 hours into the service. I attempted to have the incident Investigated through their corporate dept and it was a total failuer from start to finish, just like the oil change !!! If you value your vehicle and want good service and repair, NEVER take it to PEP BOYS in Orland Park or any PEP BOYS for that matter. Look them up on the BBB website and it will explain it ALL !!! Pep Boys on 159th and Lagrange...I've gone to them for oil changes for several years only because they are near my home. Mike is the most condescending service person I have ever encountered. Immediately after leaving every service visit to this location, and putting up with his BS attitude, I tell myself it was the last. Totally my fault for continuing to go back but that has ended now. My most recent experience (today) occurred after I scheduled an oil change online indicating that I would be waiting at the facility while car was being serviced. Apparently, my telling him I was going to wait, which is what I previously indicated when I submitted my request online, wasn't going to work for him. With a disgusted eye roll he told me it would be "a while" until it was ready. After asking multiple times how long was "a while" he said 2-3 hours. This was after he told the women in front of me hers would be 30-40 minutes. This is just the latest, and not the worst, experience I have had with Mike. I will never waste my time with Pep Boys again. read more

Looks like Pep Boys don't sell auto parts anymore ... you know stuff like jumper cables and windshield wipers. It looks like all they do here now is install tires and perform oil changes. So if you're looking for auto parts you may have to visit something like an Autozone store, but if you're looking for tires this may be your spot. read more

This place is terrible, untrustworthy and unsafe. I dont even know where to begin...they literally let me drive off the lot with a lug nut missing from each wheel WITHOUT notifying me. Instead of asking me if I wanted to purchase new lug nuts (which I would have) to replace the ones that were damaged they just put wheels back on with no care for the missing lug nuts. Also, car was given back with a deflated tire....how is this even possible at a tire shop. To top off I got charged for work that could not be completed. Mike the Manager is rude and incompetent as this happened under his watch. When I confronted him and asked how this can happen...his response. "These are kids and we are short staffed." read more

Got a lift kit new rims and tires and an alignment at orland pep boys store. 15000 miles later my tires are shot the truck drives straight but the lazy shop workers didn't adjust caster and camber causing the inside edge of the tire to go completely bald in 15000 miles . Now it's time for 2000$ tires again and a reputable shop to align it. I'm currently at pep boys getting my oil changed! I gave my keys to Dawn and she went out to check out my car. She came back with a big beautiful smile on her face and sat next to me. I thought, uh oh lol She said I found this on the ground in the parking lot next to your car and I assume it's yours. Turns out when I reached into my pocket to get my glasses I pulled out a hundred dollar bill and a few ones! I mean wow! My family and I have used this location for years, however my car recently stalled while driving and I took to a different Pep Boys who said they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. Obviously something was wrong. I then took to a Toyota dealership and was shocked when they opened my hood and were concerned with the way the battery and wires looked. They did a diagnostic test and found the battery and wires were off market and non factory which is now costing me $1000 to replace for a new battery, wires and alternator due to the janky parts this Pep Boys installed on my car. read more

I came in here a couple weeks ago for a LYFT inspection on my new car. Everyone was very friendly, and were able to finish my inspection in maybe 20 minutes. They have a really big parking lot which is a big plus, and I did not feel their prices were high at all. They charged me $20 to do the inspection. Had my van blow out a tire off the interstate on my way thru town. Van full of kids and on the 4th of July. Called everyone around this area and everyone was closed, except pep boys. Michael and Chris had me set up with a new tire, mounted and balanced, with speed and even stayed open long enough to mount it back on my van for me. shout out to these guys for helping my family and me in our hour of need. The lines here are really long which kind of suck , most of the staff is knowledgeable about cars as well. 90 minutes for an oil change on a Thursday night when I was one of 3 people in the lobby. I understand the time it may take but I was not given a warning and so I ended up super late to something I was supposed to be at. Had a appointment for 9:00, came in at 8:40 am. For a simpler oil change and tire repair. Sat for 2 hours watching people come and go all had large repair bills, someone they new Came in a half hour after me and left a hour earlier than me, because they new them. I listened to what they were telling people to get done on there cars, as they told me I needed a wheel alignment which I had done there 3 months ago over there They also tried to tell me I needed back tires from which they also rotated 3 moths ago. When I listened to them tell the many people with big bills that were service ahead of me ahead I realized these people don't need to do the repairs they were telling them to do. I'll admit it. I chase the oil change coupons and discounts. So, when I needed to get my tires rotated, balanced, and aligned, I went to Pep Boys Orland Park Since that's where I bought my tires on a great Black Friday deal. I got the oil change too. After changing the oil, the car leaked, even though it didn't before. I was told it was the oil pan. This surprised me as Pep Boys replaced the oil pan the only other time they replaced the oil Which was just 4 years ago. That time too, it didn't leak before but did after. What are the chances that both times Pep Boys changes the oil, I need a $300 service on the oil pan. I change my oil 2-3 times a year and have never had a leak anywhere else. Since mechanic error is one of the top reasons for changing an oil pan, either there's a competency issue or a scam or I'm the most unlucky person. When I called my mechanic, he just laughed And told me to bring it in. I'm trying to save pennies, I lost dollars. read more

After buying new wheels from PepBoys.com, it turns out the rims did not perfectly fit my car (even though ten minutes on the phone with the dot com rep assured me they would). I discovered all I really needed was hub rings. These were available on PepBoys.com, but I went to my local store to see if I could get them immediately. They were not in stock but they checked their intranet inventory and told me the PepBoys in Orland Park had SEVEN sets in stock. Cool! SEVEN!! I drove 30 minutes to Orland Park. When I spoke with the parts manager, he says something like, "No, we can't sell you these. They are a 'warehouse' item and are reserved for the Service Department." And I say, "Wait... I can order these ONLINE right now, and they can be sent to my home or my local PepBoys within a few days... but YOU ACTUALLY HAVE THEM RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW... and you can't SELL THEM to me???" And the manager essentially says there was nothing he could do. Wow. I've never heard of anything as asinine as this. SEVEN sets of a product behind their desk, ONE of which can be sold immediately, but they can't do it? So I go home and order the parts online to have them delivered locally for pickup. I get a call two days later and I pick up my stupid hub rings. I'd bet dollars to donuts that Orland drove them over to my local store. While this may not be a problem with this particular location of PepBoys, it is certainly miscommunication to the storefronts from PepBoys.com and/or a faulty intranet inventory management system. This is a STRUCTURE issue, which results in POS issues and, essentially, customer dissatisfaction. I'd say the system needs to be reassessed to achieve better communication from web-to-store as well as from store-to-store. While I can understand how Orland's parts-manager's hands were tied, I'm a far cry from saying I left that store as a satisfied customer. read more

Excellent service. I've been here for an oil change and brake pad/rotor replacement on my Mercedes Benz. For both services I waited for alittle over an hour, and my vehicle is driving smooth. The staff is extremely honest and friendly and I will continue to get my car serviced here. read more

No appointment was needed, just walked in with my 8yr old daughter. I told them that my dealership priced my oil change at $49.95, Pep Boys originally priced it at $76. Took the kids to KFC and returned in 45 minutes; after 1 hour and 15 minutes it is still not done. Stay away from pep boys in Orland Park. Went for tire repair. Mike the manager refused to have someone put the spare back underneath vehicle. Oscar put WAY too much air in tire. PSI read 49 for repaired tire & 33 for the rest. We have picture of reading. No inspection or balance. Tire went flat again next day & we found out from discount tire across the street, that a gummy worm plug was used instead of a patch and now a new tire is necessary. We had not even mentioned to discount tire that it was previously repaired. Got a new tire from discount tire & they put the spare back & checked the P S I 's on tires. STAY AWAY FROM PEP BOYS, should be called liar boys as at least 3 lies were told to us in one visit. Their website says "patch tire" not temporary plugs. read more

Never have used their car service department but have made many purchases over the years. The store us usually clean and well organized with a decent selection. There is usually younger people working the parts counter who don't seem to have much car repair experience so I usually leverage Google on my phone to obtain part numbers that I can simply supply to the parts person. read more

I called, inquired about wheel alignment. I was transferred to the service department tech who told to come in, and that "it's about a 30 to 45 minutes wait." I went right away, and when I arrived I was told by the salesman that there were 2 people ahead of me. So I waited and waited... other people who came in later than me already left assisted. Almost 2 hours later I went outside and saw that my car is still where I parked it. I finally approached the person at the counter, and he then told the technician that he has given my papers earlier yet than those other people. I waited and waited again, and I finally went outside and saw that my car has already been parked outside in a different area. I had to approach the salesman again, and only then did they send me to the next counter to pay for it. It seems that these people are being " selective " in giving their service. read more

Brought my car in for an oil change and was told an inspection showed my cv axle had a torn boot and grease was spraying out all under the car and it needed to be replaced for $600. I declined and took the car to another shop where they had quoted $320. When they went to do the repair, they brought me in to see that there was no sign of any torn boot or grease spraying out from the axle at all. It was in very good shape. They were trying to make money off of an unnecessary repair. Avoid a shop like this. read more

They found many questionable items with brakes and steering and John made it all work to get him safely on his way that afternoon. Thanks again for great trustworthy service Jim S. 4-28-14. Sadly, corporate decided to move Jim S. and Ron, then Katie left service. the place isn't the same. Now I get a "guard" with an attitude shoving the oil log in my face to sign when I bring in a gallon of used oil. Yes, I know the procedure. I have found that there is now no personality behind the service counter anymore, the crew I came to know well for years is gone due to a new manager that decided what will work better than years of prior success. Well it doesn't work that way. If it "ain't" broke don't fix it. I've spent thousands there on my seven older cars, both labor and parts. It's a different environment now, time for me to move on too. These guys keep a wide variety of auto parts and tools in stock. I used to do business off and on with these guys just because they were the closest auto shop. The prices are a bit higher than Wal-mart and Autozone. It seems that whenever any type of customer service is required, things tend to get weird from not honoring sale ad items or exaggerated sale ad items, to waiting 40 minutes so a mechanic can get off a break so he can dump my oil into a drum while the clerk stands there, to some clerks who have better things to do than answer a question about a service. Save yourself a hassle and go to a much more hospitable place with better prices. read more

George was extremely helpful from the moment I walked in. He welcomed me into the store while he was looking up some information for another customer at the same time. Once you completed help another customer and even have them install it on their car and then came over to me and then helped me locate the windshield wipers I needed. I have been going to this Pep Boys with all of my cars for many years now. I only let one mechanic work on my cars. His name is Chuck. He is the nicest, professional, patience and most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with. I have never had anything go wrong again with the part he fixed on my car. Jason is another person that is great here. He works the desk and will do anything he can to help you out. He is very professional and very nice.
