You knew your schedule before I started talking to you. It felt weird walking in. Always trust your gut. I left went to Pep Boys willow grove. He listened didn't question me. Last year rear brakes were ok with 5/32 . pepboys put on the rear new pads and rotors for $610.05 .Pa law says if less than 5000 miles per year-emissions is waived,pepboys charged $39.99 I guess they saw me hobbling on walking sticks as I have Parkingsons disease, and retired. read more

They tried to charge me $750 for an oil change, brake pads and rotors and when I asked them how much these parts cost to purchase, (because i've purchased these myself in the past and knew they were overcharging for labor) they avoided the question. i found a coupon for the oil change because no way i was paying full price for it and got the rest done at my usual shop for less than $300. also, evidently customer service isn't a strong suit. don't fall for this bs just because of the big name. read more

I brought my truck in for four new tires. After having the tires replaced I discovered the next day that they put the wrong size tires on the front of my truck. If I didn't happen to notice the mistake it would have never been corrected. I brought it in the following week to have them replaced. I waited in the waiting room, and was subjected to the salesman watching racially charged video on his phone. For some reason I guess he doesn't own a pair of earphones. My daughter needed an oil change and a tire rotation on her 2020 Lexus. She took it to Mike and the guys at Pep Boys, after the dealer told her it'd be a week and a 1/2 before they could see her. They did the oil change and a complimentary tire rotation, which the dealer charges $29.99 to do. They explained the recommended preventative maintenance that was needed to be done and made sure she understood what services she needed. They fixed my first flat within the day and the second one because the rim was bent so badly they were unable to do the work there, but had gave me a place to try and said they would hold an appointment to get my tire put back on. This is the WORST pep boys ever. Horrible customer service. They literally tell you not to book online bc it's inconvenient to them. Also, on more than one occasion, I have been sent away with them telling me that the problem I went in for (tail lights being out) were not out and working. This was completely incorrect, as my tail lights were most definitely out. It was close to closing time which is my guess as to why 'they noticed nothing.' Needless to say, I ended up watching a YouTube video, bought the lights myself from Walmart for $3 and easily installed them myself. Waste of time even attempting to have this location fix my light issues. I also have been turned away when my headlight went out being told it was too complicated to fix and they didn't know how to replace my headlight ( I have a Prius). Beyond frustrating. read more

In need of time there was an appointment made to get a car inspected @ Pep Boys on Easton Rd in Wyncote, PA. The appointment was made for a Friday afternoon. For whatever reason the appointment wasn't honored and they needed to keep the car overnight. The following day the car failed inspection. I understand that because of their attempt that payment needed to be made. That attempt cost $71. What wasn't understood was the need to remove the still valid inspection sticker that was on the windshield when it was brought in. Thought that was removed when new stickers were going on. Not here. Now the car doesn't have anything for inspection stickers and it's being driven daily. Legally it's now worse than it was when it arrived. Previous work on another car was completed at this Pep Boys too and their prices are on the high side. Almost $870 for a short distance tow and a starter. Never again for my family. read more

I'm not from this state but my boyfriend that lives in the area need some service done on his car. I was recommended to this place by a local. At first I was hesitant due to the location of the place and whoever I spoke on the phone gave me an attitude toward me. When I came in for an oil change, they took my information and vehicle for a service. I waited for about 45min-1hour wait. I was fairly surprised on how they did their maintenance. They made sure they took care of my car and what I asked for. They even do a complimentary car check and tell you right away if there is something wrong with the car. For me it was a tail light out so they told me they would fix it and gave me a price. I agreed to it and only because I figured why not? I came here solely for oil change but they said they would do a free tire rotation. Depending on the car, my oil change was starting at $38 before tax. I ended up leaving the store paying $53.55 (I added my tail light to be replaced). They even gave me a rewards member card so that was cool. Glad with my service and will be coming back. read more

I've been to 4 different Pep Boys locations in and around Philly, but the Glenside location seems to be my favorite. They are always so damn nice, easy-going and attentive--with nunna that patronizing condescension that so many of us ladies often experience when checkin' up on our auto parts. My most recent visit was this past Good Friday. I had the extreme pleasure of hitting a mega stank pothole that bent my tire rim. The shop was pretty busy when I popped in--and I always seem to pop in without an appointment--and they let me know it might be awhile, but they squeezed me in. This gave me the perfect opportunity to stroll into some nearby places I usually just drive by--which was awesome! (If you're ever here waiting, just walk down the street and sidle up to the bar in the Blue Comet. You will be fed and your thirst will be quenched in the loveliest of environs! The consignment shops along the way are also fun to peruse.) At any rate, after about an hour my car was ready to the tune of $30, which was less than I anticipated! read more

Went here for an oil change and a flat tire. Very Quick service. I thought I was going to need a new tire but They told me I would be able to just get it repaired!! How honest. In addition to the quick service, their waiting room is extremely accomodating. It features a Free Keurig Machine, usb charger ports, and a soda machine. Oil changes, tire rotation and balancing, brakes and inspections have been accomplished w/o problem and with efficiency. He took his car to a local shop and they informed him he has NO oil. The indicator says he should have 40% however it looks like someone from Pepboys did not not do the oil change and he still got charged. I'm not one to post reviews, good or bad, however my experience today just left me in disbelief. I went in to get a single headlight changed for my Nissan van, I was quoted a price of $127! For a SINGLE headlight! They said it was an hour's worth of labor and a difficult job because the bumper had to come off, I've seen it done before and I knew it wasn't that way. He said that's how it had to be done. I went down to performance auto in Roslyn, they didn't have the part but told me if I went to advanced auto and bought it they would install it. The part cost me $17 and I was charged $10 to install it... and it literally took him about 2 minutes to install the headlight,and no the bumper didn't have to come off. Took our car in at 12:30 for a 1pm slot inspection as we need to hit road asap and was told by the guy that it won't be a problem. Walked out for 1.5 hrs lunch and came back to find the car still hasn't been work on and was told that they won't be able to look at it for another 2hr. They skipped our car to work on the bigger jobs! Total waited time 5hrs for an inspection, wasted half a day. Dishonest customers service! read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. The end of July of 2018 I went to get my car state inspection done and thought if would be convenient to go near my work. Greg the Service manager looked at my car and said I needed new Brakes, rotors, tires and some lights were out in the back. I said that is strange because I got new brakes and tires last year. I wouldn't need new rotors because I keep up with the upkeep of my car. I told him to put my car together, I am not paying him anything. Greg said they do the vehicles right, insinuating my Mechanic has no clue. I than bought the car to my mechanic and I did not need these things, My bill was $150 in inspection and minor things. When I told friends about this they were not surprised on Pep Boys shady business practices. Where as the money hungry Pep Boys was going to charge me over $1,000 in work I didn't need. Congratulations Pep Boys you lost a customer and everyone is being notified of your shady business practices. I won't even go into your store to buy an air freshener. read more

I shop at Pep Boys pretty often, and in a fairly wide variety of locations, so this review is aimed exclusively at this specific location and the service/staff there. Brought my car in to have my battery checked and to diagnose a loud noise coming from one of my wheels. I had called 2 other nearby Pep Boys' asking for an immediate appointment and none were able to do anything today until I called this location. Real nice guy on the phone, answered other questions I had for him. Guy was wearing some sort of blue shirt with a little red text saying "Toyota" something. I spoke to him when I got there. When I walked in, I was surprised about how small the store was. Most Pep Boys' I've been to had more actual retail space, but this one had maybe one quad sided retail stand in the center of the room with 6 rows on each side of small products like air fresheners and lip balms. Oh, I can't forget the rack in the corner, holding all sizes of Rain-X windshield wipers. I personally like the Pep Boys locations I've been to that provided a little more in the way of browsing and shopping; I enjoy looking at parts and mods to budget myself for. Thankfully, they didn't sacrifice workable space too, what with a 4 door and very wide garage. They also have a large selection of tires available and others to be shipped in. Straight in the door, if the registers and door to garage is to the left, and you're on the right side wall, you walk forward past the windshield wipers into a comfortable waiting room. Straight ahead is a long hallway to the bathroom. Very solid store for comfort, not so great for retail, but they gave me a free lookover so that's dope read more

My husband & I brought our car there to get the tire plugged. It was 20 minutes before the store closed. The guy that worked on our car was very pleasant. And there was no wait time. He took the car right in & it took about ten minutes. Also the cashier used a coupon for us so we paid half of what we were quoted. That was certainly a wonderful surprise! Dishonest. I went in for an oil change. They said i needed $1200 worth of work, some was stuff i knew i needed and others were bogus. They said i needed new lower ball joints. I told the, they had just been replaced less than 8 months ago (ball joints don't go bad that quickly). He was trying to convince me that my serpentine belts would cause damage to my engine if they broke. Not true - your car will not work, its not dangerous to you or your car. Both my brothers are mechanics but live out of state. They said I needed a new battery because I had corrosion, I thanked them but said I only wanted an oil change! That is all!!! I might have listened to them for the other stuff had they not thrown the bogus ball joints and the crap about the serpentine belts at me. Oh and i needed a tuneup which i knew and I am quite capable of doing it myself. The tuneup was valid - and I knew about the serpentine belts needing to be replaced. I thanked them and told them that i just needed the oil changed. When I picked the car up they had a list of other 'recommended' repairs. shocks, struts, breaks, suspension.... basically rebuilding the car.... if you want to be believable then don't try to over sell... I drive less than 10K miles a year - They totally turned me off when they said i needed new ball joints. nope... I might be a girl but i'm not going to be taken for a ride poop boys! read more

I got a flat tire caused by a nail piercing my tire. AAA came and put my donut on my car. The next day I brought my car to this Pep Boys establishment. As soon as I got there, one of the guys there looked at my flat tire. When he comes back, he tells me the tire was not repairable and "was sorry to be the deliverer of bad news", but not only did I need a new tire, but told me I now needed 4 new tires since I had all-wheel drive. My car is a 2017 car. I said there is noooooo way I'm doing that. I told him if I bring my car to the dealership, and I do not need 4 new tires, that I was going to write a review to expose either their incompetence or their con (I do not know which it is). Sure enough, I brought my car to my dealership, and although it was not an easy patch job (they patched it from the inside of the tire), they were successful in patching the tire. So at the end of it all, it cost $27 and my dealer even gave me a coupon for a free car wash. Meanwhile if I were stupid enough to believe the three Stooges (Manny Moe and Jack), I would have been looking at hundreds of dollars plus they probably would have snookered me into an alignment too.
