They sent a wonderful technically who evaluated the situation and said I could make it to the shop while he followed me. They had to order a new tire, which would take 2-3 hours, he drove me home. Excellent family run business that takes care of their customers! Everyone there is very kind and professional and the mechanics know the ins and outs of all the cars I've brought to them. Recently, I took my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee because I thought there was an issue. They found a problem with the computer system and told me I needed to take the vehicle to a Jeep dealer since it was covered under warranty. The technician at Jeep insisted their was no issue but when I told him with B&W said it was, Jeep called back and said they were right. Although B&W did not service my car this particular time, they were able to diagnose an issue not even a certified Jeep technician could find. First off, I'm the son of two serious car owners who have frequented B&W for years, so I have experience both with my car and their cars. The mechanics here are amazing and the service is incredible. My first car was a '08 Volvo S80 AWD T6 (turbo I6) which lasted for a while (RIP) and they always kept that baby in tip top shape until it was totaled (not my fault too) My next and current car was a '07 Subaru Impreza 2.5i sedan. I've never left suspecting that they did unnecessary work, and I've never left without having my problem completely resolved. I really can't say enough about B & W. Every time I need to use them, they're always friendly and willing to accommodate if they can (I was driving to Texas on a Thursday, and called them on a Monday asking for an inspection. They did it all on Wednesday). I've never once felt like they did unnecessary work to charge more, and the work they do is always great. What really sells me, though, are the personal touches: they call whenever they have a question for you, send postcard reminders about oil changes or inspections, and they're always pleasant. My experience with B&W Auto service was very unsatisfactory; and it cost me more than $285.00. I learned that they don't care about repair results, only getting your money. I located this company by Googling "Isuzu repair shop near me," and B&W was at the top of the list. My car (1993 Isuzu Rodeo) was having trouble on longer-distance trips with "intermittent power loss." Several other local mechanics couldn't figure out the problem, even though they replaced numerous costly parts. I spoke with the B&W mechanic at length on the phone and he said they could investigate and likely resolve the problem. The car was in their shop for 24 hours, and when I drove it locally, it performed fine. But as soon as I took it on a 90-mile trip, the car acted up again with the same problem. I called B&W and reported my ongoing dilemma, but they were not interested in working on the car any further to resolve the problem. They explained that the car was old, and suggested that I drive the car "only locally." I paid over $285 to B&W to repair my car, but I got practically nothing tangible in return except rude and inadequate services. Grade: F, Not Professional. read more

I went to B & W on the recommendation of some friends and have always been happy that I did. I wouldn't go anywhere else in the Philadelphia area. The shop doesn't look fancy, but the service is excellent and very professional. They are also easy-going and very honest. You never have any worries about unnecessary work or inferior service. They are convenient to schedule an appointment with, and do their best to work with your schedule. My car is old and it began to have trouble starting up in the summer. We took the car in to B&W on a friend's recommendation. The first time, they told us there wasn't anything they could find but said we needed to change the oil because it was "dirty", and so we did. A few weeks later, we still had problems with the car not starting (intermittently) and we took it in a second time. Again, this time they said our 1 year old battery had a short in it and we should go replace. It was under warranty so we replaced it at Costco but we still had to pay for the car to be checked. We wondered why they didn't check the battery the first time but we hoped that would fix the issue. It did not, and we took it in a third time. We suggested maybe there was something wrong with the spark plugs. B&W replaced the spark plugs but I'm not so sure that they really tested it (or if it's possible to test the spark plug). All in all we ended up spending +$600 for the three times we took it in and we still have the issue of car not starting. We felt this was a lot of money for the same problem which still was not addressed. My biggest complaint with them is that when we tried to explain that this was a lot of expenses for a problem that keeps occurring and frankly they could not fix. The mechanic said "if it starts fine when I test it, there's nothing I can do". And when we fought the charges, he insisted that these were tune ups that were done and were justified. Yes, they were tune ups but that was because that's what you guys suggested we should do. They did not find the cause of the problem, and it almost felt like they did not understand why we brought it in the first place. There seems to be a breakdown in communication there. We ended up footing the bill each time and took the car home in not much better shape than it was when we first brought it in. After doing some online research, we found out that Autozone and Pep Boys perform free diagnostic tests to test your battery, starter and alternator when you have problems like what we had. We took it in to Autozone and with a simple diagnostic test, they were able to determine that the alternator was faulty and needed to be replaced. Why B&W did not do the same test in any of the three times we brought it in, is beyond me. We still have to pay for the alternator to be replaced but we certainly won't take it to B&W. They have ripped us off, resulting in unnecessary expenses. read more

On the recommendation of a friend I first took my 1994 Buick LeSabre there back in 2001-2002 for various problems. They did honest competent, quality work and I never had a comeback on what they repaired. After I got rid of the Buick I started taking my 2001 Civic DX (standard five speed) there for repairs. This past March I took it in because my transmission was growling. The car has 115,000 miles on it. By just taking it for a test drive, these guys figured out it was the intake shaft bearing in the transmission that needed to be replaced (good news). Now the bearing was only $38.00 (good news) but they had to remove the exhaust system so they could drop the transmission (bad news). Then they had to strip the entire transmission apart just to replace the bearing (bad news). They also had to machine a part and the clutch was worn down to almost nothing so they replaced that (what are you going to do?). They also changed the oil because it needed it. They said they checked the rest of the transmission when they had it stripped apart and said that it looked great (good news). Total cost was $1450.00 (mostly labor). This was cheaper than what the dealer would have charged and like I said: I trust these guys because they do honest, competent, quality work and they don't fix what isn't broke. So I was not upset at the price. Last night my Civic started to make a thumping noise in the front as I drove it. I hadn't hit anyone so I knew I wasn't dragging a body down there (I checked just to be sure). So I took it in today with no hesitation and told them what was going on, asked them to check out the thumping and set up some other work I had planned for the car. I unhesitatingly recommend these guys. They are very honest and they are very competent at their jobs. Are they expensive? Well you get what you pay for. With B & W I get peace of mind and no comebacks on honest, professional, quality work they have performed. They have never steered me wrong. read more
