TERRIBLE person at desk counter since was SO slow at doing anything on computer. I had call that my car was ready, walked back to pickup and had to wait 25 min since Barry had no clue what he was doing on computer so had to keep redoing transactions multiple times to get right. The service technician was excellent and found coupon to reduce my bill by $90. It's a shame that counter service is what you remember but it was grueling. if you never read reviews, please read this one. i went there for some tires and a sensor or two and tell me why all these dash lights started appearing once i got home! i went back and they told me it was an issue with my transmission like how the hell did that even come up when all i demanded was this fix what they damaged/broke/replaced. after arguing with staff for some time, they legit recommended i go to another pep boys without them even trying to fix what they caused. im.a working man just like everyone else and they just fucking the next person over without resolving the issue. after i called my lawyer and best believe we about to get paid!! he told me that store has had multiple allegations within this summer alone so im sure im not the only one this has happened to. please spread this so they get shut down. even the staff was sketchy. not sure if they even have any a mechanical background to begin with. stay away!!!! ‼‼‼‼ read more

I made an appointment for new tires and a wheel alignment. 3 hours later my car is still not done and no alignment. Told them I had to go and forget the alignment. I was there a week prior and quoted a price that included the alignment, when I went to pay, I was charged $70 over the quoted price with no alignment. But you know what I did get???? A complementary vehicle inspection along with a photo of my cabin filter!!! Pep Boys, you get 1 star and I'll be going to the Firestone down the street from now on. What a joke. read more

Came in 7/7/20 to see if I can get my flat tire fixed. Ends up my valve/sensor on my tire was also bad in addition to the flat tire. Long story short, I purchased the tires from this establishment 1 1/2 years ago and they fixed it free of charge. On top of that they went past closing time to make the repairs. My GF called pep boys and was quoted "about" $1000.00 to replace her alternator in her SUV. Are you kidding me? They told her the alternator was over 500.00 for the part that leaves another 500 in labor. I can't find an alternator online over 300.00 brand new let alone remanufactured. Are they selling gold plated alternators? Pep boys.com sells two that fit her vehicle. One is under 200 the other is under 350. Over 500!!!?? From where??? Let's go to labor. 500 in labor? Any 1 year decent mechanic can change an alternator in less then 2 hours. I can watch a YouTube video and do it in less time. That's 250.00 a hour for labor when the average is about 100.00. So I drop my car off at 6pm for a oil change and let them know I will be picking it up the following day! I asked what is the earliest it could be done.. The gentleman stated the earliest would be between 8:30 and 9:30. I explained its important it's done by that time because I have work and need it to be completed as early as possible.. (Especially since I'm dropping it off the night before, and a oil change should take 30mins tops! ) I walk into pep boys at 9:55am.. My car is no where near done!!! A different guy says it won't be done until 10:30 (which means 11) I explained about speaking to the guy the night before and what we talked about... He states we had online appointments this morning too!! I'm really disappointed in pep boys in Blackwood!! I'm not sure if they have enough people working or if the workers are communicating at all! But to wait 5 HOURS for a oil change is out of control!!! And to have the manager brush it off like oh well.. After he sees a customer upset.. Is not good customer service!! This Pepboys in Clementon NJ just scammed me. I went in there because my check engine light was on and still is on because they didnt fix the problem. I went there and told them specifically that i need my charcoal canister to be replaced but they told me it was fine and I had another issue. When whatever they did didn't turn off the check engine light they said to drive 50 miles and it will go off but it didn't. Just left there 10mins ago and when I was there all of a sudden my charcoal canister failed? What?!? I told them what was wrong and they told me I was wrong and had me pay over $500 to fix something that wasn't even the problem. That guy kennith or whatever his name is tried to make me look stupid when I told him personally what was wrong with my car in first place. SCAM!!! I want my money back!!! read more

Customers beware! I literally made a yelp just for this exact reason pep boys rips you a new one. I recently brought my nissan in for repairs i had a frozen piston on my caliper bracket and needed a brake line bleeding. After i called i was told to tow it to pep boys and they would take a look at the car first then give an estimate. In this situation your basically screwed, once my car had arrived they tell me they cant get to it until monday but mentioned nothing about that over the phone! They made it sound like they were going to do it the same day. Back to the topic when i passed by monday i was told they were still backed up and hadn't got to my car yet the car was on the lift with no tires. I saw the same manager but different mechanic almost everyday if your so backed up why is there only one mechanic working. Aside from that the major problem for me was: I was treated like a kid, i was told an outrageous price, and when i refused their services they told me they would need 2hrs to drop my car from the bed so AAA was postponed. I was told my pistons were ceased not only in the front passenger side but also the adjacent wheel i was also told i needed the entire caliper kit because the bracket could only be bought with the kit. Yea right! Tell that to autozone i had already purchased a new caliper the line was leaking from a loose bleeder screw they didnt even bother to tighten they put the wheels on the wrong side and i was told 530$ for the front with the bleed and they couldnt bleed the lines unless the pistons were replaced soo also 450$ for the back to replace the so called ceased piston After having a family mechanic fly out and take a look at the car the rear was falsely diagnosed because the pistons were not ceased at all the rear was in perfect shape, I found out that the wheels were on the opposite sides in front and i bought the bracket at pep boys alone!!! For 33$ +6 core trade in. No need for the entire kit the bolt came loose with a break bar socket wrench and the frozen piston was replaced! 95$ in parts excluding the previous caliper replacement 100$ for 2 hrs of labor including bleeding the lines Pep boys charges 115/hr 230 for two hours with part 263 Not over 1000$ They are liars the guys name who fed me the crap and basically belittled me was chris the same guy i always see at that location. Who knows how many people have been ripped off for hundreds of dollars believing there stories. And they say pepboys does everything for less charging dealership prices for mediocre work Customers Beware!!! read more

I came to my 9am appointment wondering why the bay doors were open and yet single yellow chain links kept customers like me from entering. Called the place to confirm If I was in the right place. The store manager, Darren, was enthusiastic to call me in. I drive a 2012 VW Jetta. My new Pirelli Cinturato tires were in the backseat. Darren took stock of my car and drove it into the bay area. Mind you. I didn't see any employees yet Darren took charge. And he was half my size.He unloaded all the tires. Put my car on the lift and started work. I sat at the waiting area, my mind already made up to stay maybe 2 hours. At exactly 10:10 am, Darren calls me to the desk and tells me everythings done. I said, tires are installed and balanced, the alignment also done, and the new rainX wipers installed. He asked me if I have any coupons. I was blown! This place rocks!!! Real professionals serviced my time. I am very impressed and would recommend others to take a moment and think about this. If you want quality work done fast, and done honestly with a smile, Pep Boys in Blackwood-Clementon Rd is the place to be. I will be back for more. I was coming home from work on Friday July 29th and decided to stop @ Mc Donalds, right next door to Pep Boys on Blackwood/Clementon Road and when I came out, my 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer wouldn't start so I walked up the hill and asked on of the emp if they could help me and they responded quickly. They tried to check my battery, however, that didn't seem to be the problem so I called AAA and had it towed to the front garage area. One of the gentlemen said he would hang around and make sure I got home that evening, I only live 5 minutes away, but fortunately, the tow driver said he would drop me off. I'm sorry I didn't get the man's name who helped me that night, I think he may be the manager, but I was called promply the next day and told what the problem was and approx how much it would cost. I received a call from Sean who picked me up the next morning and took me back to me car. The bottom line is that I felt they went above and beyond to try to help me My car was done in a timely manner and I will come back again to them all because I felt they really tried to help even though it was close to closing time. Summary of my complaint about Pep Boys: My biggest complaint is the inconsiderate and rude manner in which the Pep Boys Manager, Chris Pandolfo, treated me each time I was there over the course of two weeks (7/17-7/28). I had to come back 3 times before they would even look at the car, Chris wasn't there when he told me he would be, and it took them 5 1/2 hours to trouble shoot the car because it was obviously their lowest priority. Chris kept promising to call me back with an estimate and he wouldn't, so I had to keep calling him. The last time I went to get his final estimate, he made me wait over an hour while he was "working on a car". On top of all that, the estimate was dated one week prior, so he had the estimate ready, but he just kept putting me off, only to tell me in the end that he wouldn't do anything to help me get the car fixed. If he wasn't going to help, he should have said that right from the start. The sad thing is, when I asked him on 7/22 about the safety of driving with that bad tire, he said he "didn't know if it would blow in an hour or a week, but just brake and steer off the road". I'm sure he wouldn't want himself or his family to drive around in an unsafe vehicle. His sign in the service center says "I personally guarantee your satisfaction." That is just not true. I also called corporate to complain on 7/23 and they said they would call me back in 48 hours and they never did. It is now 7/31, and I have to go somewhere else to have everything done. My second biggest complaint is that I am out the $575, not to mention my time and aggravation. I also wonder what all that vibration has done to my car. Summary of my car problem: I took my Nissan Sentra to Pep Boys to replace the struts ($575) in February. They did not replace, nor did they tell me I might need to replace, the mounts and bellows. The bellows shredded, I don't know when. Pep Boys serviced it and rotated my tires on another occasion but never said anything. I had an estimate done for the exhaust system in May at another shop and they told me I needed new struts, but I thought they were lying because I just had them done! My car started vibrating and the tires wore extremely unevenly, one down to the steel belt. I didn't realize what was going on as it only vibrated when I was traveling over 65mph (not very often). When I brought it to a reputable mechanic to troubleshoot, he wouldn't touch it because it was such a mess. When I went back to Pep Boys, they gave me the runaround for 2 weeks, then said it would cost me another $1600 to replace the struts, mounts, bushings, bellows and tires! The new struts were bad now because the bellows failed and dirt infiltrated them. A total of $2200! That is ridiculous! Chris would not give me any kind of break because I "didn't get the extended warranty". He said they were giving me 20% off and not charging me for the struts and alignment but it was all right there on the estimate- $1000 for struts and $600 for tires. read more

I have had a oil change and two new tires on my wife's car. So I have bin there a few times and every time I have nothing but great service. The manager and his team always talk to me and explain everything so even I can understand they made sure it was only what had to be done and the price would not kill me. Went into this store very close to closing (about 15 minutes before closing) riding on a doughnut. I wanted to buy two tires. Person at the counter was very courteous and very helpful. Bottom line is I really need four tires, just couldn't afford them at the time. I had called around for prices ahead of time and the price was a little higher here but I will return for my other two from this Pep Boys because they helped me when they could have said that they were closing. Furious with the Pep Boys! Came out with the problem i went in with but $200 poorer right before Christmas! I've been driving my car over a year and suddenly the steering felt wrong. The wheel wouldn't return when I made turns. So on the way home from work I took it there because I thought it was something dangerous. Went home and an hour later they call and say they didn't really notice what i was talking about but i have a bald right front tire and my front brakes need to be done and an alignment for over $600 (a week before xmas mind you)I thought maybe the front tire was the steering issue. I told them skip the brakes and do the tire and alignment and oil change. $216 after coupons. ... i pick up the car and HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM I CAME IN WITH! I immediately turn around and go back and the employee i originally dropped it off too greeted me and said lets drive it. The whole time telling me he doesn't feel the problem and theres nothing unsafe about my car and "there's nothing wrong with your steering." I left feeling very upset and taken advantage of because there was clearly a problem. I took it to a family friend the next day and he felt the problem immediately! !!! Says I need a new wheel rack which is over $500! And I've already wasted 200 on the idiots from pep boys! Awesome! NEVER going there again! read more
