The gentlemen at this store took care of me after a flat tire from a pothole on 76. My lug nuts were stripped out on my wheel and they went out of their way to break them off. They constantly checked on me while I was in the waiting room, great customer service by everyone in that store. I called the store and spoke to the "manager" and informed him I would be flying home, the next day, for an emergency, and would need a battery. I went to the store and he checked the car's VIN and license plate, then wrote the order up. He said "CarFax" determines what battery is needed. I found this odd, but was in a rush due to having to be somewhere. The charge was more than the one I priced on the internet. I asked who do I comment to , and he said he would mark the file and someone would call ME within 48 hours. That never happened. I then wrote to corporate and a Robert Gibney contacted me. Went in for a customer supplied part job. Was told couldn't be handled that day but would be first in the pay in the morning. Finding this an acceptable compromise left my vehicle overnight. Come back the next day 3 hours after the first available appt would be (job quoted at 2 hours so...an extra hour) to find out why it wasn't done yet. Was informed that not only was it not even BEGUN yet but they put other cars in front of me. My car will not be done "by the end of the day".....not like I really have a choice! read more

What a horrible experience I had today at your shop in Audubon, NJ. I made an appointment for 9am (1st appointment since they open at 9am). Checked in, told the worker what issues I was having. He was great. Took notes, took my keys and called me a Lyft ride home. At 2pm, I hadn't heard anything yet so I called the shop. I was told the technician was entering the workforce and I would receive a call shortly. At 4pm (2 hours after my first call and 7 hours after I dropped the vehicle off), I called back. I was placed on hold for a few minutes. I was told the technician found a few things, which I already knew because it was exactly what I told them was wrong at 9am. They wanted to keep my vehicle because the expert technician wasn't in until the next day. I can't do that because I have to go to work, which was the reason I took it to you on a Sunday morning. I dont understand why it took 7 hours and 2 phone calls by me to find out they couldn't complete the job. If I had the 1st appointment, my vehicle should have been looked at earlier in the day. What if I had been waiting in the waiting room for the service to be complete? I feel like my car was forgotten about until I called in asking. Unacceptable. I wasted a whole day and still don't have my car repaired. Now I see why multiple people said to not go to pep boys for repairs. Such a disappointemnt. read more

We have used Pep Boys in Audubon for the 19 years with all of our cars and my kid's cars. When my son brought a work truck there for the appointment time they gave him, they quoted 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. to put new brakes on the front and back and do an oil change. At 2 1/2 hrs. he called to see how it was going and they said they were unable to do the back breaks cause there was damage to the back of the truck. and they would be done with a quote attached in 1/2 hr. At the 3 hr. mark, he went there and they said give us 20 mins. we haven't done the oil change yet. At 3 1/2 hrs. he went in and they said we have to put the tires back on. He kept telling them he needed to get back to work and he had to be somewhere in an hr., but it would take him 1/2 hr. to get there. 15 minutes later, he asked if he could get the truck and they again said, we have to put the tires back on. At the 4 hr. Mark, they came out and said it's ready and by the way we didn't get to the oil change!! They had the truck for 4 hrs. and only did 1 set of brakes and kept him from getting to his appointment! Our family will never go there again!! And I won't recommend they to anyone!! read more

The worst place I have ever gone to get a simple oil change. First off I was quoted one thing over the phone get there my bill was a completely different price about $30 more. Our appointment was scheduled for 11 on a Thursday show up there then they tell us they cannot do it for another couple of hours because they had so many call outs now my daughter is coming from over 25 minutes away you think they could have given us a simple courtesy phone call and let us know absolutely not. So my daughter and I go the following morning everything was all fine and good we both leave with a rattling noise in a car. My daughter left before I did call me saying she's stuck on the side of 55 because she's so afraid to drive her car mind you she's 18 and all but one of her cats for her tires were missing. In the meantime I had just taken off and start hearing a rattling noise in my car go to get my daughter from the side of 55 I drove her car cuz she was too afraid to drive it she drove my car she has a rattling noise in her car now as well. They proceeded to tell us that the cats were already missing, now first off you think they should have told us this if that was the case being that they were supposed to do the tire inspection this that and everything else no second off the ends where the tire caps go we're so shiny that there was no way that they were missing plus we know for sure that they were there. Now under my car it looks like somebody just took it and when I pulled out half of my front end no scratch marks no nothing this big old protruding dented up metal and broken plastic piece completely broken in half which they claim was there I just have the tie rods done on my car it was not there then. I do not suggest any female especially our younger female ever grow here on their own. They definitely try and take advantage, and as far as the price quoting I do have the recorded phone call of what they have quoted me and the bill what they had charged me absolutely did not care that I was quoted one thing and then being charged another so that will be a matter I guess to take up with the Better Business Bureau. Needless to say seeing a lawyer about the Damage Done to both of our cars which thankfully my daughter's tires didn't blow on the highway killing her and or somebody else. read more

Pep Boys has falling far and you should run before going there for automotive service. Took my 2016 Tocoma in for oil change and tire rotation. I told Alex the service rep to make sure they rotate the tires. In the past they have missed completing this service so I now mark my tires. Upon pick up I noticed they didn't rotate the tire. When I questioned it He gave me a bull crap excuse that my tire has a slight bubble and they can not perform the service. I asked him why they didn't call be to tell they could not perform the work. When I asked them to show me the bubble they claimed it's really difficult to see. The rep tried to run his hand along side wall claiming there's a very minor ripple. Totally made up (see pic). I drove up the street to a real tire center and they laughed at me when I shared the claim. Told me they could not sell me a new tire in good Conscious because there's nothing wrong with my tire. But he did say that's what you get for going to Pep Boys and letting a bunch of high school kids work on your truck. Point taken I won't be back pep boys!!! read more

I had a 12 noon appointment for front brakes and an oil change. The work wasn't done until 7:30 and I had to call several times to get any updates. Then, when I picked up my car, there was grease all over the door, hubcaps and interior, including my cloth seats. Now, my seats are ruined. Before my last car inspection I notice my check engine light was on. So I took it to Pep Boys figuring they say in their commercials that they can do a diagnostics on it and figure out the problem and fix it. So I gave them a shot. After dropping about $230 dollars on parts and labor I drove off with what I thought was a completely taken care of problem. The next morning I planned on taking it to get inspected. I got up and started my car ready to drive to the state inspection place in cherry hill. I turn the car on and boom, engine light is on. So I turned the car off, waited a few minutes, turned it on again and screamed. I took my car back to Pep Boys and had them fix it again. Shelling out about $180 this time even though at the time their tv commercials stated that if they didn't fix it the first time, the second time was free. Yeah, I call bull. I got my car inspected that day, driving right from that Pep Boys to the station. The next day, when my engine light was on, I took my car to an actual shop and haven't stepped into a Pep Boys since. I'm sure they're good for parts but I'd rather go to Auto Zone or Palmer's or Mr. Tire than deal with incompetence. read more

I walked in without an appointment and asked if my car could be serviced as early as possible. The service manager was very supportive and helpful and saw that my car was serviced almost immediately. I was in and out in what seemed like 5 minutes and will certainly be a returning customer. Great service is most important for both me and the car and Pep Boys in Audubon has just that. read more

Horrible experience, I called Friday Morning, wanted to make an appointment to have break pads put on an older car (spare car which had been sitting for a while). Was quoted a price of approximately $200 plus for the job. Dropped off the car Friday night. Saturday comes in the morning no call about the car, noon comes no call about the car so I call. They then tell me it needs pads and rotars (of course, more money) and they would need to see if it needed pads on the rear (well, I know a little about cars and this car has drums in the back, lol, I may be female but not completely stupid!) When I mentioned that there was no way I would need new "pads" in the back because the car had break drums they then changed their tune to say that the drums needed service, more money! I then waited for a call, no call, called back three hours later to be told something else was wrong, that a bold needed to be replaced, more money! This is a 27 year old car that has been sitting and is only to be used as a "spare car in case of emergency" that I only wanted to pay $200 for break pads and I am now paying over $1000 to have repairs done that I never wanted! Will warn people off this place! Also, I called around 5:00 to see if the car was done and the gentlemen told me the car was done and I need to pick it up today, it is the end of their pay period and they needed the money in to get credit for it, could I pay over the phone and pick it up whenever i can, are you kidding me? You want me to give you money for something i don't even know that you completed? I will be taking this care to another mechanic to see if everything you say you did is done, if not, I work for a large South Jersey law firm as a Paralegal and get free legal representation and will definitely be taking Pep Boys to court, deep pockets, will be looking for that!! Today and came to Pep Boys with a problem. My car remotes were not working well and needed batteries. The store manager, Frank Mihalic greeted me immediately and asked how he could help me. He was able to help me get the right batteries. I didn't know how to replace them, so he replaced them for me. I can't tell you how important it was that he helped. I've visited this place twice and both times have been a disappointment. I'm a reasonable person. I asked for an oil change and for them to inspect my tires. The guy, first, wasn't paying attention when I explained why I needed my tires inspected. But, ok, I repeated it- when he was asking and paying attention. Then he answers his personal cell, in the middle of our intake conversation, AGAIN.. ok, maybe he has personal stuff. I'm not unreasonable. I get it. He tells me two hours, and it shouldn't even take that long. He mentions the guy is almost done with the one car in the bay and I'm next. Okay, great. I have my kid with me and I explain that we will walk around town and shop and be back in two hours. I walked around the building and noticed there were two cars in the bay and a few workers in the back. Okay, good looking so far. Shouldn't be too long. We come back, two hours later. I see two workers sitting at the desk, playing on their phones. I walk up and say that I'm just there to check on my car and he replies " it's not ready yet" - yeah. I noticed. My car is in the EXACT same spot. I parked it earlier. Never even been touched. I ask him how much longer and the guy looks HIGHLY annoyed and goes to ask the guys in the shop. He comes back and says " he's almost done with the other car. Then he can start on yours". I am HIGHLY annoyed. But. I don't argue with workers. So. I ask how long and he said " I dunno" ok. Ok. I go sit down with my kid... and finally I realize that it's been two hours and they haven't touched my car. They had two cars in the bay. Had they called me and told me, hey it's gonna take longer. Or been honest upfront. Maybe I would be ok. But you wasted two hours. Had I known it was going to take all day, I wouldn't have brought my kid. I would have gotten an Uber and went home. This happened the first time I visited them. About two years ago. But I thought, maybe it was a random incident. I dropped my car off at 9am and my car wasn't done until almost 6 that evening. I couldn't even get my daughter from school that day! Stay away from this place. I'm a nurse, I work long hours and my schedule is hectic. I wasted two hours today and now I have to rush around and try to find another shop, to fix my oil and check my tires- before our trip next week. This place definitely doesn't care. That man didn't look the least bit concerned when I asked if I could cancel my appt and have my keys back. Now I see why other pepboys are closing down. Horrible service. Horrible wait times. I walked in today to have a sensor changed in my tire. I had been in earlier in the week and spoke to someone who very nicely told me they were backed up, to come back over the weekend, they had tons of the needed part in stock. It wasn't urgent so no issue. When I walked in today, the old guy behind the desk ignored me for five minutes while he typed on the computer and then picked up the phone and made a call. I understand he may be busy or the middle of something, but he didn't even look up to a acknowledge me or say I'll be with you in a moment or anything. When he finally helped me, he had a gruff attitude. I decided to just leave and have the work done at Mavis Tire across the street. Not only were they friendly, they were much cheaper than the price I had quoted at Pep Boys for the same work. There are three tire places right across from each other. Bad place, shitty service. When you pay $100 for a diagnostic you are supposed to get all the details on whats wrong, not 50% of it. Paid $500 for a fuel pump and they did a shitty job. I am a mother who went there to replace a worn out tire on my daughter's car. John at the front desk was VERY HELPFUL. He came out and looked at the car and showed me that the opposite tire was going to be next in line. He was NOT pushy at all and showed me the damage and dry rot on the tire. I was THANKFUL and had that replaced too. My daughter was driving to Stone Harbor in 2 days and I was relieved that she had 2 new tires not one. Prior to coming in, I had multiple engines lights on and one that was even starting to flash continuously over and started to make sounds. As you can imagine I was nervous as to what was going on and if I could even make it to a local Pep Boys that was near my location (I typically go to Pep Boys, rather than a mom and pops auto shops). Luckily, the Audubon Pep Boys was not that far out and I was able to make it there without my car falling apart. I am glad I did because it was by far the best experience I've ever had at a Pep Boys location. I had the pleasure to meet their Manager, Vinny, who helped me identify what was causing the multiple check-engine lights issues (and sounds) with my car. He identified that it was a faulty thermostat, which was causing the check engine light, sounds, and flashing lightning bolt symbol going off on my car dashboard (never saw that symbol before haha). In addition, Vince and his employee also identified that my windshield wipers were starting to peal off and could cause to scratch my windshield next time it rained. With the heads up I was able to purchase new windshield wipers prior to any damage occurred. Overall, from start when I walked in, to when they completed the work and finished it took about an hour to an hour and half. I would highly recommend this Pep Boys in Audubon, NJ if you are in the South Jersey region and definitely recommend Vinny. read more

they are not trustworthy and condescending I give them zero stars, but the lowest it would let me click was one Had brakes checked out. While sitting in the garage watching, I decided to wait on the job. Mechanic had only taken off two tires. But was pissed off for not being given the brake job. He retaliated for not getting the brake job by first, turning the air pressure all the way up on his impact gun on and running the bolts in tight, holding the impact gun for about 40 seconds. Then he put a hand wrench on the nuts and stuck a 6 foot pole/pipe on the end of the wrench, pressing his entire body weight on the bar, bouncing up and down to make it even tighter. I had someone else attempt to break job but could not get the nuts off. He actually broke two socket wrenches trying. I contacted the central Pep Boys office, was instructed to and subsequently brought the car back where the manager had someone different tried to loosen the nuts. At first, he was unable, asking me, how long have these been on here, they must be rusted on. The manager replied to him, yesterday. One of our guys tightened it up. He had to use an extremely long bar and a special that cuts into the meat of the nut in order to loosen them. When I mentioned this to a supervisor sometime later, he defended that mechanics position stating that, maybe he was using a torque wrench. A previous mechanic for many years, I know the difference between an 18 inch torque wrench and a 6 foot long pipe. As he continued to postulate the un-postulateable, in a pseudo-sarcastic way my mocking and condescending, he then said, maybe the nuts wore out. Sure, all 10 nuts on two wheels wore out in one day. Of all the years I've been working on cars, I've never seen a single nut wear out and neither has he. More condescending, assuming his customers are stupid and ignorant. I can't believe they're still in business I spoke to someone who worked in the Cherry Hill store years ago and she said, they had a quota on every service job that came in. That is, no job would be charged less than 300, even if it required, doing work that was not needed. read more

I had a blow out on 95S this past week. Called ahead asking for the exact tire- I had given the "exact" numbers from the tire. The employee who answered the phone confirmed he had the tire - when I arrived he had the tire at the desk. After it was put on and I paid I checked it before pulling out of the lot- it was not the exact tire. When I approached him on it, he said it would be fine and to "trust him". After a stressful discussion where he did not want to refund me the money I asked for the manager. Both managers were fine to deal with- I did have to wait to have the tire removed- a waste of 90 minutes in total and a lack of trust in dealing with shops like these. It was a hard enough day after traveling alone and having a blowout on 95- As a mature woman he was trying to take advantage of me- he should be ashamed of himself. Went today after calling up to see if they had my tire in stock. Service was fast. done right. no complaints. i was in out in 15 minutes.

I had coolant service done on my Volkswagen Passat and it was worse service I received. They did diagnostic test and stated the coolant pump was broken. The coolant pump was replaced paying $245 dollars. One week later my car was having coolant problems again. I took the car back they stated I need a new radiator, thermostats, and other things done that totaled over more than $1,000 dollars. My car was under warranty so I had to pay $100 deductible and another $450 on top of the 245 that I already paid. This was done 12/31/15 and I am still have coolant issues where I have to fill the coolant in my tank every three to four days. Pep Boys in Audubon, NJ completely messed up my car. How can I have the same problem over and over again after all of the work they have done. This makes no sense. Do not go to Pep Boys.
