This Pep Boys location is one of the most unprofessional businesses I've ever encountered. They don't respect appointment times. After giving them my information 3 times they continued to have the wrong name for me in their system. They quoted me $110 for the diagnostic and then $372 for the repair. They recommended an extra service for an extra $150 in which I declined over the phone. When I came to pick up my car they told me my total was $665.66. Although I explicitly declined their extra recommended service they did it anyway & charged me for it. I spoke to the what I assume to be the manager (Cedric) & he told me he was the one that talked to me on the phone (which I don't think is true)--he gaslit me saying that I said to proceed with all of it. I stood my ground & reassured him I said that I only wanted the needed repair. He proceeded to go back and forth with me telling me I was lying in front of the whole store. I am not one to argue at all & I was just so shocked at what was happening. He ended it with an attitude saying "I'll take it off but I know what you said." I finally got the $150 off and even with a free service I promise I will never come back to give my business at this store EVER again. read more

I'll keep this short, If you need something repaired or replaced and you know EXACTLY what it is and know the cost will be cheaper than the dealership, come to Pepboys. However, If you come to Pepboys and aren't sure what's wrong with your car they will use a bit of fear to make you believe you need more work done than you actually need and run the tab on you! You will spend at minimum 1K. I had a minor situation with a part in my car and was advised I needed a new alternator. In my head I immediately called BS. The associate advised the issue would get louder and worse and the particular job I needed done could not be done without a Full Replacement! Again, total BS and lies! They quoted me $1,200. Another shop down the road diagnosed the issue, and made a pulley alignment and replaced a pulley with no issues. Under $250 with labor! These guys tried to pull a fast one on me and I don't appreciate the dishonesty. This location is going through a remodel so be advised of the disorganization and construction going on. Also, the staff tends to congregate around the cashier when it's slow. It wouldn't hurt to get a dust cloth and wipe the 1 inch layer of dust all over the waiting room- Just being honest. It's a post pandemic world. Keep the waiting room clean! I will say the mechanic was EXTREMELEY helpful, honest and diagnosed the issue, however the desk staff are there to meet the store sales goal! read more

I feel bad for the manager that was working when I came in. My battery needed replacing and I was afraid to drive it home as it was Sunday and not many places were open. It was clear this guy knew exactly what he was doing but his crew did not. I saw a mechanic ask his boss if a filter needed to be changed. So I would NOT trust them with serious repairs or even small stuff for that matter. However, because it was only my battery, the manager replaced it himself and I was out same day. The cost was fair. I get being understaffed but I did everything I was supposed to - made an appointment, was on time etc. and for 4 brake pad replacements (NOT ROTORS, JUST PADS) I sat there from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. I told the technician i had a work obligation at 2pm and told him I'd need to come back for the car and he insisted it would be done in time yet here I am still here at 2pm waiting. For pads??? I'd also like to note the cost for pads only was $670.00 - i refused to pay that and magically my bill came down to $350 - $81 for parts and $240+ for labor fees! The Pep Boys are still using old ways to make money for part purchase and labor for a car repair. When I plan to replace my car alternator at 1880 Buford Hwy, 30041 , they told me the compatible alternator was stocked in workshop at price $585.00 and asked my wait. but after my 2 hours waiting in waiting room, I saw a deliver car sent the alternator "Carquest" to the front. I asked them why you said the part was stocked in your workshop and let me wait for two ours for the part delivery. the auto part store "O'Reilly Auto Parts" is in the same plaza and just 5 minutes away and the price is marked as $345.99 for the same brand part and ready to be picked up in 30 minutes if buy it by my self with 20% off online for more discount. The part was $200.00 more then the normal price even. They charged me more than $900.00 total to replace my Toyota Camry alternator with the above part and labor and even only with 90 days warranty. I felt I was ripped off much. They are not honest and please keep away from Pep Boys. read more

I will never take my car here for service again. I brought my car in July 10 2024 for a basic oil change. After they finished I noticed and complained about a scraping sound coming from the front left undercarriage area of my car as I was driving home. I brought the car back, they put it up on a lift and then claimed that it was fixed. A few weeks later an undercarriage cover (that I confirmed covered the oil change area underneath the car) partially detached while I was driving and was dragging underneath my car. I brought my car back to this Pep Boys location and complained about that - they again put the car up on a lift, removed the damaged cover and said they would order a replacement cover. Do NOT take you car to Pep Boys on Piedmont Road in Atlanta. I came in to purchase tires and get a wheel alignment. While there they told me my battery was weak so I came back the next day to get a battery. They couldn't finish that day so they gave me the option to leave my car overnight. Three cars were vandalized that night and mine was one of them. My window was shattered , the police were called and Pep Boys said they would pay for it. That was 9 days ago! I told them that my car was headed to get an alternator repaired at a different shop and I would come back to them for the window since they had to set up an appointment for my window anyway. They set the appointment up without confirming it with me and when I called to get the window fixed after I picked it up from the other shop, they're saying well WE were ready on Wednesday. I told them the window is getting ready to fall in any day and I can't wait any longer . They keep telling me that they have to call and set up the window repair since they're paying for it but there's no sense of urgency and ZERO customer service skills. In addition, my steering wheel is still turned to the right which means the alignment I paid for wasn't done properly. Oh and the 4 brand new tires I purchased...well they scratched my rims up horribly trying to put the tires on AND left tire lube all caked up on my rims and brand new tires! The car was picked up by someone and I didn't see it until the next day. I asked them why on earth would you let a car out of your shop looking like this???? It's as if they don't care, it's as if they think it's a game or a joke and it's as if they don't comprehend that there is a CORPORATE office that is over them. I came to Pep Boys in April during a period of house/townhome/condo touring prior to making a purchase in May. I got my FIRST (I know, surprising) flat tire after hitting a curb across from an open house on a busy main road. I came here on a weekday, and after calling was able to helped that day. I just waited in the waiting area of the shop while the mechanics worked on my car and did not feel unsafe. In the past two years I had to buy three replacement tires for the same tire!!! The other tires on my car have not had an issue! The last tire I bought in October went out in January! Called them and they said it's no warranty on it!! What a joke! They up charge and lie about the prices. It's close to where I stay so I kept going back like a dummy. Even called about replacing my battery they wanted to charge me $500 for a battery I got at Autozone for $200 plus free installation. They always lie about finding you the best price option. This place has officially become the worst place for parts. I would come here cuz it's super close to my house but ever since they closed the main part of the store and make you work through the cashier for anything, it's just been absolutely terrible. They always try to up-sell everything, they usually recommend the wrong parts and there's always lines because one person is working at the counter. One time I tried to get disk breaks. I go to the counter and tell them the parts I need. He comes back with drum breaks and tells me they go on the back. I say no, they're dish breaks and he continues to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I got to the paint where I said something along the lines of "go get me what I asked for." The final straw for me was when I tried to buy wipers. I go up to purchase and the guy just types at the keyboard for minutes then just gets up and walks away. He comes back with a different set of wipers and tells me I need those ones instead. I ask why and he comes up with some reason where the ones I grab don't clip in. I asked why he event sold them in the first place. Then he told me they were over $30 a piece. FOR WIPERS! I walked out. Never coming back. I'd rather drive to autozone. At least they give me the right parts from the beginning. read more

I tried to handle this as maturely as possible by calling the shop, but since I was cut off and put on hold for over 3 minutes, I'm going to just take to the internet. About three weeks ago, I came to the shop because I had an oil leak. After 6 hours of waiting for them to get the part and fix the issue, a mechanic tells me that the problem was not what they initially thought. I had to leave, and come back in two days so I made an appointment. They put no oil in my car in the mean time. When I came back for my appointment, they discovered that they ordered the wrong part. So I had to wait, again, for them to order the right part. They finally "fix" the issue, but they were still uncertain what the actual issue was. In fact, they thought the issue might be something they already fixed earlier this year! Here I am, two weeks later at another mechanic because my check engine light came on and puddles of oil were visible under my car. He tells me that the cover gasket they just replaced, was not sealed properly and oil was leaking all over. My engine had zero oil in it and I was lucky to have came in when I did before it caused more damage. They had to put in 3.5 quarts of oil. My car only takes 4. Honestly, don't waste your time or money here. They take forever and don't pay attention to details. Their customer service isn't that great and they nickel and dime you with shop fees which they say "is for inventory and parts" but ironically they never have the parts in stock that you need so...??? Go to a family owned business that actually cares about the customers and keeping their clients. I will say that Joe is very helpful and has good customer service. He really did help me through a lot of the confusion and I appreciated that. Otherwise, you rarely see the same people because the turnover rate is so high. I brought my car in about a month ago for misfiring & the service engine light was on, they had my car for 3 days for them to replace the spark plugs & ignition coils....I got my car back & within 24 hours (& driving less than 15 miles) the service engine light was back on...I brought it back & this time they said it was the oxygen sensors, but I didn't trust them so I picked up my car to get a different opinion since I already just spent $1k with them. Not even a month later, my car is misfiring again - I take it to a shop down the road because this is pretty insane....what do I need replaced? The spark plugs & ignition coils, AGAIN!!!! I will never take my car to this location again, if you need to take your car someplace nearby look again Anthem Automotive right down the road. I went from a maxim of 9 rating to an 8 which is a reduction of 1/9th yet I have to pay 33% of the replacement cost of the tire. They do decent work but will nickel and dime you to get their money.
