This is a thrift store with curated items and has some of the best vintage goods you'll find at some of the best prices. I went to the Zionsville location looking for dinner plates and side tables. I was very close to pulling the trigger on some vintage ceramic plates, but decided to keep looking at the last minute. The friendly woman behind the counter said that the merchandise changes very frequently, so I should check back soon. This store has lots of home goods, including frames, flatware, furniture, decorations, mirrors, rugs and light fixtures. There is also a small supply of raw items like kitchen sinks, doors, cabinets and other materials. The prices are very good, but just a tick higher than some of the other Habitat ReStores that I've visited in the Indy area. Still, I'll be back soon to see what new goodies have come in!

The woman assisting rudely told me I need to park in the bay next time when donating. Today, I arrived and parked in the bay as instructed. However, the garage door was closed and when I peaked in a window, it appeared dark inside. Due to the fact the store had just opened, I assumed the bay was not yet operating. I walked around the building to notify an employee of my desire to donate. Again, I ran into the same woman as before. This time she rudely asked me, "Did you ring the bell? That is how we know someone is here. Otherwise, we don't know." I did as instructed and was greeted by a gentleman who asked me if Restore was expecting my donation. Meanwhile, I am donating a $500 microwave and lightly used, in almost new condition, upholstered armchair. I understand in both instances instructions for proper protocol may have been the intention of this employee, but TONE and body language should also be considered in delivering a message. This is a great organization, but I feel conflicted after BOTH donations. I am turned off rather than inspired to continue donating to this location. Perhaps it is time to find an different charity.

Per what I could find out, it's an all-volunteer effort and this is one of three locations. I will also note that this location relocated from a spot further south. There are also spots in Taylorsville and Beech Grove. I was in the area having some care work done nearby, and I decided to make a quick visit on my way from visiting some spots in the area. What can I say? This is true thrift. There are occasional community giveaway days. Prices are pretty amazing, and the selection is quite varied. There's a strong element of faith throughout, of course, and that includes attitude, decor, and to a certain degree even selection. After a quick visit, I was pleased to see a friend of mine on one of their social media posts. The entry is pretty accessible. The layout leans toward comfortable chaos, but I had no issues with getting around for the most part. I would enter with, well, humble expectations. There's really nothing fancy to be found here, but I found friendly volunteers with affordable items supporting a good cause. So, while this may not be the best thrift store in town it's a meaningful one worth the support.

Lux & Ivy is that store for those of us who love unique clothing and want other people to do the heavy lifting. I saw so many items that I loved (including some gold sandals), but I left with a long black skirt that had cork buttons running down it. See what I mean about unique?! It fit perfectly, and even better: It was 20% off! Even without the discount, the skirt (and the other thrifted clothing on the racks) were priced reasonably. Lux & Ivy offers not just clothing and shoes, but also jewelry made by local artists, beauty products, vintage home goods, bags and lots more. The store is cute and smells good, the clothing and products are all arranged nicely, and it's just a pleasant place to shop.

My son has been here often so he's becoming familiar with certain areas and found what he wanted. I, on the other hand, was overwhelmed. Asset Recycling is a division of Youth Fair Chance, Inc., and in operation since April of 2003. They are a non-proft organization who works to divert usable building materials from landfills while offering donors all allowable tax incentives for their contributions. The charity's focus is to provide today's youth with a fair chance for a safer and more environmentally friendly future by eliminating usable building materials from landfills.  It provides neighborhoods and individuals, especially the ill, needy, and youth, new and affordable building materials for home projects. While the Asset Recycling warehouse primarily contains windows, doors, paint, plumbing supplies, flooring, and lighting, you can also count on finding interesting deals, arts and crafts items, holiday and party supplies, home decorating items, fabrics, and more. Asset Recycling is open to the public with a focus on serving those most in need of assistance with safe and affordable housing.  Inventory changes often, so frequent visits are encouraged.
