The staff denied my online reservation, saying it was for another of their stores, but they gave me a replacement car. The problem was the tree sap or some other sticky stuff on the hood of the car. They tried to wash it off, but no dice. They didn't have any mineral spirits in the mess of a garage. I showed up at the location at the confirmed time, only to be "walked" and told there wasn't a truck available and that "someone" in inventory was supposed to have contacted me. I left and made a reservation w/UHaul who actually guarantee to pay you $50 if a confirmed rental isn't fulfilled. To make matters worse, Budget charged me a $75 no-show fee even though they were the no-show. I had to call customer service and after about 5 min was able to get them to process a credit. Their initial response was that I was supposed to cancel my reservation. Go figure.

Surprise (or not)! I've got another *ONE* star review to add to this UHaul's collection of bad…read morereviews. We rented two trucks for our move on back-to-back days. On each day, we made sure to make note of the gas tank at the beginning of our move and on each day, we went out of our way to stop by a gas station and fill the tank back up to where the line was. And much later, we found that we were charged an $80 tank filling fee for each day ($160 total). We obviously called to argue these charges and after two days of investigation and back and forth were able to reverse one of the charges because they couldn't find documentation of any gas check occurring at all. UHaul refused to reverse the second charge because they did have a picture that showed the tank line being 1/32 of a tank lower than starting. However, we noticed that the picture had a timestamp was 2+ hours after we returned the truck. We asked them to pull video footage which showed the truck was left at check-in (i.e. left on) at the direction of another UHaul employee. Gee, I wonder if an idling engine could use up any gas? Was this enough to reverse the charge yet? Despite all logic, they devolved into repeating the same line over and over, that they could not reverse the charge and we could not speak to the manager of the location. These people are the scum of the earth, who in addition to tacking on a lofty penalty charge, literally robbed us of the extra gas that we put into the tank, as a result of their own incompetency. UHaul might be too big to go out of business, but here's to hoping this location does!

Before I arrived, Timmy was really friendly and helpful on the phone, and even told me to come in without an appointment on a busy weekend afternoon. This is not a big operation and it seems Timmy does almost all of the work (there was a young helper there), so I appreciated it even more that he was able to accommodate me. Even though he was working on another car at the time I arrived, he took the time to come to the counter and answer a few quick questions for me. The hitch installation was perfect and he even spent a few more minutes with me afterward to clarify a few things I asked about. He threw in a little sarcasm with some of his answers, but that's OK -- I can take it. Oh, and the best part was it took only about 45 minutes. I went for some lunch at a local Westwood restaurant and the hitch was done when I returned. Couldn't have been easier. Cost around $160 total for the hitch installation and trailer wiring. (FYI, I supplied the hitch which I purchased elsewhere.) Thanks Timmy!
