This experience was very different we had to keep explaining to the same "general manager" our situation and we didn't have a clear drop off date due to our vehicle being in the shop they kept asking us to pick a random date of return and when it wasn't returned by that morning they asked us to set randomly we would get non stop calls from "spam likely" numbers and text messages demanding us to return the vehicle since it's past the return time of 847 am. This happened over and over. when we would call back the "ghetto general manager " would respond yes I know who you are when you returning the van... talk about customer service or professionalism. I'm spending $1700 a month renting a van and get treating like this how great for a local business!

She immediately turned nasty saying she never said that and the added fees would remain. She stated U-Haul was doing nothing further to help those effected by Covid 19. Meanwhile, we are in NYC and aren't even in phase 1. She told my husband "doesn't even understand what he's talking about" and that U-Haul is an essential service. We asked to speak to someone else. She replied in a nasty tone "Call anyone you want. They'll just send the call to me." Meanwhile, Charlynette is a manager and U-Haul is not a franchise. Customer service has said U-Haul leaves these decisions to their manager's discretion. So her claim that "U-Haul isn't doing anything further" is incorrect. The decision resides with her. Apparently, Uhaul is ok with this disgrace passing as customer service. This woman's name is on many reviews around the internet, few of them positive.

I tried renting the van for 2 days to celebrate a family birthday party for our grandmother. Needless to say, the whole family was severely disappointed that we were unable to travel together and celebrate her 80th birthday. I received two confirmation emails with confirmation numbers and writing from the company that said the staff is looking forward to taking care of me. One major problem... there was no vehicle for me and the staff blamed me for not calling to confirm... REALLY?!?!? There was a phone call to me, which I returned TWICE. One time I left a message confirming the vehicle and the other time the voicemail was full. The day after my calls, I received the second of two emails with confirmation numbers on them. I arrived as planned and NO VEHICLE. The staff was not only rude, but did nothing to apologize or try to get me another vehicle with someone else. They blamed me for not confirming the vehicle. I finally left after pleading my case for 15 minutes. I played the voicemail I received and showed them the two calls. I returned to them I can see they were getting aggravated with me once I told them it's all on tape. They were directed to stop talking by one of the workers behind the desk. In short, I was told that two email confirmations with confirmation numbers doesn't mean anything because it didn't come from a phone call. HELLO?!?!?! THIS IS 2025! Unbelievable. And yes, I waited two days to write this review so I could digest what actually happened. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. There are not many reviews for this company and I assume the positive ones that are there must've been made up by them.
