I bought a 150cc Vespa scooter in the Spring of 2008 and in the course of insuring it as a…read moremotorcycle my insurance company accidentally canceled the coverage on my regular car. In order to re-gain coverage on my car my insurer required an inspection and the closest agent they recommended was Auto Depot. I drove over there one day and walked up into the office. It turns out that the business was officially closed while they did inventory (and I think some staff were on vacation). Despite that, when they found out I needed an insurance inspection they grabbed the paperwork and a camera and took care of me. I was pleasently surprised that they did this while "closed" since I don't think inspections for insurance companies are a big money maker. A few months later (and after dumping the vespa on a street one day thanks to a wet manhole cover) I brought the scooter to them to see if they could repair a couple of dents and a lot of paint scratches. After taking some gentle ribbing about owing a scooter (I think some of the staff are serious motorcycle heads) they gave me a price estimate and told me it may take a few days of work since they'd have to custom match and mix the paint. At that point one of the owners offered to give me a ride back to Roslindale Village where I could easily walk or grab a bus back home to my house. They were unable to get official Vespa paint so they used some sort of optical scan gun to read the colors and generate the info they needed to have a shop mix up a custom batch. The end result was fantastic - except for some scratches on some chrome bits that I don't care about they fixed all the dents and matched the scooter paint *exactly* when repairing the body scratches. The final price was exactly what they had estimated as well - no surprises. So in summary: * They opened the shop just to perform an insurance inspection on my car * An owner drove me to Rozzie Village after I dropped off my scooter * They mixed custom paint when fixing the scooter and did great bodywork * The paint/bodywork estimate was exactly what I ended up paying Obviously this is just my $.02 but they've earned my loyalty and I'll be bringing the car back there some time to get some body panel scratches fixed. -chris

I called Auto Depot as soon as I got to town and they were able to get me right in. The service was incredible. Friendly, upfront staff. Not only fixed my car through the insurance claim but also a handful of other things, like an oil change and brakes. They're an all-service shop, which is really helpful. They were also able to somehow get my deductible lowered, which was really awesome and unexpected. My only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that I had also asked them to check my wipers and they forgot but that's really not a big deal. I'll call them and take it back in at some point, but really not a big deal. Overall, I think I've found my new favorite body shop. I would highly recommend them.

My son's school laptop is missing out of my mom's car and I called to ask about it and they hung up…read moreon me. Told me they nothing to do with it. Told me he's been working since 7am. Told me to stop talking before I even finished asking him a question. I mentioned how impolite he's being and he even acknowledged it and kept on going. I called back and he was even more rude and hung up again. I called back and asked if I should come back with police and he said I can do whatever I want and hung up again. The office that inventoried the car also wonders where it is. I'm hoping the person that took it "finds" it and does the right thing. That will save me from having the school track it on Monday.

I called Stephen's back in May (apologies for the delayed review) in the hope that they could…read moreresolve an exasperating problem with my 2006 Jeep Wrangler ... chronic water leaks on the passenger's side door. I bought this Jeep new and it never leaked ... until I made the terrible mistake of having Certified Automotive Disasters (Upham Street, Melrose) do a substantial amount of mechanical and body work (see my Google and Yelp reviews for details of that monumental debacle). I was almost ready to give up on the water leaks when I called a *real* body shop, Stephen's, to see if they would be willing to at least look at it. I wouldn't have blamed them if they declined to try to fix Certified Automotive Disasters' mess, but, luckily for me, they didn't, and I was able to quickly schedule a time to bring it over for them to assess. Enter Shawn Bolger ... although he rightfully made no promises, he said they would try to adjust the door to stop the leaks. I dropped off my Jeep the following week, and, to my absolute elation, their adjustments seem to have solved the dreaded leak problem. Although it didn't rain a lot this summer, we had several heavy downpours and occasional lighter rainfall, and every time, without exception, my Jeep stayed bone dry (including, most recently, the all-day heavy rain on Sun 09.13). To say I'm thrilled is an understatement ... until you've had a car that has water leaks, you don't know how life changing it is to again have one that doesn't. So thank you to Shawn and the techs who were not only willing to try to help a complete stranger with an unconventional request, but who also had the skill and experience to fix the problem. I can't recommend Stephen's enough based on this brief but outstanding experience ... thank you again.
