Expect a larger crowd (it is free after all)--there were about 25 people in our group. Our tour guide, Michael Schefts, answered all questions and was very accommodating. The tour didnt go super far, so there wasnt much actual walking involved, all the stops were quite long and none were very far from each other (some cities this is more the case than others, app depends on geography). He gave us a 20 minute break during our tour because it was absolutely freezing out, and it seemed like sometimes they give the break sometimes not, depending how the tour is going. The tour company was very easy to find as the instructions on Trip Advisor regarding meeting place were very clear, and a woman organizing had an umbrella with the information printed on it. The tour mostly focused on history with a some architecture sprinkled in. Wolfgang also threw in some dad jokes periodically

I was a bit dubious about this tour company given the reviews, but we did the hop on hop off tour…read morearound the city and had a great time. We initially got on at a stop without tickets but the bus driver just let us on, gave us headphones, and told us to pay whenever someone selling tickets got on the bus (which happened about 6 stops later). Unfortunately the upstairs was very hard to access if you're on crutches (especially if the bus is moving), and the "guided tour" is a location-based audio tour. We were stuck in traffic for a really long time between stops so we got a lot of Strauss piped to us while we waited but no information. Not the company's fault though. The other thing was that the upstairs windows don't open so they fogged up a lot with the Vienna winter air so in order to see anything at night we had to constantly wipe the condensation off. When we arrived at the opera house we also asked the guide there about the night tour, and he offered us a free ride on it which was super cool!
**Salzburg Day Trip**…read more Of the 13 hours of the trip, 10 were on the bus. While technically a day trip from Vienna, I would recommend doing the trip to Salzburg on your own if you're adventurous. Salzburg is pretty compact, with most of the sights in the old partod the town. During this time of year, the town is decked out for the holiday and the Christmas market is fantastic! There were two parts of the tour: the part on the bus and the part with a local guide. Our guide on the bus led the Spanish speaking tourists while we English speaking ones had a local guide (Hans), who was awaiting us at Salzburg. While I understand Hans was probably trying to maximize our free time, I felt the tour was a bit rushed. I also felt like he was okay with losing half the group over the course of the tour. We started out with 19 and ended with 9 in the group. I wasn't sure if the others left and did their own thing or were lost. We started at the Mirabell Palace and ended in old town. At the end, we had about two hours. This was enough time to have a snack and tour the Christmas market. There wasn't enough time to go see the fortress or the Mozart museum. This tour was a good one if you need a way to get out to Salzburg and don't want to deal with the travel logistics. Next time, we will take the train and do our own thing. Not sure if this tour was worth $300 (for two people).

SF reserved the tickets online and we picked them up at the vendor. It was a small shack near the entrance to the sewer and we chose the English tour. The tour was less than an hour but it was so exciting! Coincidentally, it was raining right when we started our tour, so we actually saw the rainwater infiltration when we were at the grit chamber part of the tour. That was pretty cool. I loved how different sections of the sewer tour had lights to showcase. Most people do this tour because there were some chase scenes from a movie, but SF and I went on it to learn more about Vienna and their wastewater process. Pretty enlightening and hands-on, definitely recommend!

We bought the package for red, blue and green bus lines and unless you don't get off bus it's not worth it. We barely saw a few stops on Red then a few on Blue. We got off at Palace since we bought Palace tour and when we got their it was over a 3-4 hour wait to get in. This was well over the 1 hour that was quoted by sales rep. He said he can get up to 3 hours but if we rush their in the morning we should get in soon. Unfortunately I don't think you will get their any quicker since it just takes forever to get their with all the stops. I still have a 4 star review because the staff is very friendly and the drive is smooth. I shared a few photos when taking pics from second floor on bus. It does get hot but have a nice breeze when bus is driving.

The Summer is more recommended as you can picnic and tour their "Maze" (think Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire maze scene). It was still beautiful and majestic in the Winter time. While staying in Vienna, the Schönbrunn is easy to get to from any U-Bahn Station. You transfer to the u4 (Green Line) and Schönbrunn has its own stop so you cannot miss it! In the Summer, I rented a bike and rode from Karlsplatz to the Schönbrunn and it only took 45minutes while riding through the NaschMarkt. (Note: If you ride a bike or scooter to Schönbrunn, you must leave it on the North Side of the Palace so make sure you have a lock!) Give yourself PLENTY of time (3-4hrs) so you can tour the Gardens, Fountains, Maze, and hopefully get a grand tour of the Schönbrunn Palace. A must see in Vienna, Austria!
