When we arrived at the front door, the right side door wasn't unlocked, so we tried the left side, and got in. This is a "kiosk" restaurant - they have 4 TV screens where you order your meal, and several people hustling to make the food in the back. We both ordered single cheeseburger combos with fries. I got a strawberry shake (suggested sale from the street sign!). You grab your own drink cup and help yourself (except for the shakes). The shake arrived next in a tall glass shake cup, topped with whipped cream and a cherry. A few minutes later, our meal was called. The burgers were hot and juicy as you would expect from Steak and Shake, and the fries were very hot and tasty. The ketchup pump wasn't working well - they had some pre-served in cups with covers, but that has to be fixed. The mens room was okay, but the fixtures had some really nasty black stuff in them and were gross. How hard is it to remove the old deodorizers?

The chicken was extremely dry, the fries were flavorless, and the ribeye sandwich was cut into small pieces and was tough to chew. I called the restaurant to let them know about the quality of the food. Alex told me a refund would be issued and said the manager approved it. Later in the same phone call, the manager agreed to the refund and then a different manager reversed course, saying the food would need to be brought back. By that point, the food had already been thrown away because it was not edible. I did take photos of the food in the garbage and will be including them with this review. What was most frustrating was not just the poor food quality, but the inconsistent and contradictory response afterward. I reached out to give the restaurant an opportunity to address the issue and instead received mixed messages and no resolution. Clear follow-through from management would have gone a long way in resolving this experience
