I have driven by this children's museum many times, but today I decided to stop with my children.They both really enjoyed this museum. It is a science/inventions museum ("pennypickle was a crazy scientist"). It is only $5 per person. They have the times set up in sessions of 2 hours. When we arrived it was 30 minutes after the session had started, so we had 1.5 hour to look around (it's a small museum... but there is lots to see). I figured 1.5 hour was enough... it wasn't, my youngest didn't want to leave. Everything is hands on. They have a science show of about 10 minutes (during your 2 hours). The museum is very clean. The employees are very helpful and patient with the children. You are not allowed to enter the museum with any food or drinks, they have a special area for that. They also have a gift shop in the entrance, the prices of the merchandise are very reasonable. We will definitely be returning... my youngest asked if we could go again tomorrow. Cute little museum in Old Town Temecula. There's ample parking around the back so you're not hassling for a parking spot around Old Town. This place is cute and a great way for the kids to explore. There are a few sessions throughout the day for you to enjoy and choose from. We chose the 10 am to 12:15 session on a Saturday, and it wasn't too busy. The place is a little small compared to a lot of other museums, but it was still fun. It wasn't very interactive and certain things that should work, were just objects to look at. Like the piano, it would be great if it worked and not have it be just for looks. The microscope was just for you to look at and not for you to look into. Certain rooms were a bit intimidating for my 5-year old, so every child is different. She seemed to like the big Light Bright Wall more than anything and the x-rays of our skeletons. The gift shop was cute and a great way to bring home a piece of the museum. Memberships are $25 annually and your admission counts towards the membership too. read more

What an imaginative and creative space for toddlers and kids alike. The perfect space to spend touching, playing, and having fun. With an adorable front store to purchase cute toys, there is plenty of rooms to explore and play. Most of the attractions and gadgets don't really work but that staff was so pleasant and helpful. Our favorite room was the kitchen with lots of pretend cooking going on. As an adult its fun to see old technologies and retro items. We will definitely be back but it would be nice if they had a rewards program for frequent users! read more

Pennypickle's had been recommended to me for years. So many years, in fact, that I thought I missed my chance because my daughter was 9 by the time we finally got over there. I was worried it would be geared more toward toddlers and she'd be bored, but she loved every minute of our 2-hour session. The scavenger hunts were engaging (there are 28 hunts, each progressively more difficult than the last). She and her friends did 3-4, but I did #28 and really enjoyed it. The rooms in this "house" are packed with so many detailed and interactive things. It's a thoroughly immersive experience. read more

I absolutely love bringing the kids here. Super cheap and so much to do! They kids have a blast! The staff is very kind. The only complaint I have is the place is always hot and stuffy. I get lightheaded sometimes there's just no air circulation or something. Other than that this place is amazing. Highly entertaining. What a fun place. I'm a fan of anywhere that I can let me kids touch whatever they see. Lots of cool things to play with so much so hay you couldn't possibly do everything in the two hour slot but it's a perfect amount of time for the kids to play. The price is right at $5 a ticket and I like how they let kids watch science experiments during the time and there are so many different blocks, puzzles and toys to tinker with. I considered giving 5 stars but I'm limiting it to 4 for two reasons l. I get that they don't want food or drink with the kids in the back but if you want parents to helicopter kids the entire time and not openly explore this closed in environment, let mama have her cup of coffee. She needs it. She has twins. 5 star establishments allow me to be caffeinated no matter where I am. The gift shop is amazing too but all the little chockablock type items are right at the front. It's especially tricky switching from the back where the kids can touch all the things to the front where it is a look don't touch situation. Some activities seems dirty but it's bc everyone's touching everything lol it's a very hands on museum. If i was going to nitpick, I say they need to redo a lot of the information signs, so it's more engaging for kids. My friend introduced me to this Children's museum and workshop and im very thankful it exists. If there is nothing to do, i just take the kids there and, between the local parks and restaurants, we can easily spend a couple of hours and the kids come home happy. We took our 4 & 6 yr old girls to Pennypickle's Workshop for the 2nd time. They were so excited! They were so happy to play & touch everything, & they even discovered new things this trip! I love how the visiting times are broken up into sessions. It seems to allow you more time with less people, & more access to the staff if you have questions. We went with our grandkids today to Pennypickles's workshop. What a kick this is. I don't know where to start. There is so much to see and do here. Every room is different and full of things to see. From the time travel chair where they can go back in time to the fireplace you can duck under and it's dark and everything that is light colored glows in the dark. There are also things painted on the walls that glow. That room is so much fun. There are skeletons and giant clocks and things to duck under etc. Your kids will not be bored here and you don't have to tell them don't touch. I highly recommend this for a fun experience for adults and kids. read more

I was really looking forward to taking my girls (age 3) here and for quite some time. It was a bit disappointing. I think it would be better for ages 5 and up. There were many things that didn't work but nobody bothered to put an "out of order" sign on anything. That was frustrating. The highlight, by far, was the science show, where this lady gave a presentation and microwaved a bunch of stuff. I loved that, and it seemed my kids did too. We paid $5 for each of us, which seemed reasonable. Their website said they were doubling the price (end of August, I believe), which seems absurd to me. I doubt we'll be back at that price, but possibly in a couple years, if it seems to be more age appropriate then. read more

My 7-year-old son loved this place! We actually went there first time for the Santa's visit last Christmas season and decided we might as well try the workshop too. My boy tried a lot of things there and had so much fun! It wasn't a very big place and we stayed the full 2 hours there, but he didn't seem to get bored at all. Since he begged to go back there again, we sent him to one of their drop-off events, which turned out pretty awesome as well. It's been almost a half a year since he did that, but he still talks about the experience. So, we will probably make another visit to the workshop soon in the summer! read more

Welcome to the world of Professor Phineas T. Pennypickle at his childhood home in Old Town Temecula! I am a new resident and was excited for my sister and her three small children to come visit my new home... I do not have children but work hard for my "favorite aunt" status and was looking for something fun to do with the kidlettes and for the sisters. A friend at work suggested the Children's Museum in Old Town, I am glad I took her suggestion and am surprised I am the first to review! The museum is open for a $4.00 admission in 3 sessions daily. Definitely go early and plan to browse the unique shops and boutiques in Old Town. The Old Town itself is very charming with a Wild West theme with many historic and well-preserved buildings... we got an extra bonus by being able to enjoy all the Christmas decor for the holidays. We enjoyed hot chocolate and did a little holiday shopping before we ended up at the Professor's door! When you walk up the stairs and open the doors to this place you know you are in for something very special! It is very warm and feels like you are in a Norman Rockwell painting... The kids were wide-eyed and instantly went to examine all the toys and goodies in the gift shop. We made our way to the museum entrance and were all given stamps of a mouse on our hands... and a very kind lady told us the story of "Beaker" the mouse who is Professor Pennypickle's friend. The children were told to look for clues of penny's and pickles as they toured the Scientist and inventor's home. Each room was cooler than the next and was very interactive.. Kids were encouraged by the staff to try all the inventions... I don't want to give away all the surprises but can tell you it was a perfect blend of art, science, history, adventure and FUN! I loved the music room and kitchen the best and got a great laugh at seeing my 5 year old nephew use an old fashioned telephone. (Something he had never seen before or had any idea of how to use!) The women working here were so friendly and sweet... you can tell they are doing this for the love of children and teaching. At the end of the tour we made our way back into the gift shop and started to explore all the scientific toys and gadgets. The toyshop was a wonder in itself and had treats for every budget. I purchased some "pickle" Christmas tree ornaments for myself and for the kids: foil-covered Chocolate Pennies and some "Grow your Own Christmas Tree" out of crystal sets... remember those? Kinda like sea-monkeys... the kids thought they were so cool! I want to go back for the Erector Set my nephew was eyeing. Overall, my only regret for this afternoon was not getting there earlier for the two hour session... (and not buying the leather bag I saw in that little boutique on Front Street!) This hands down has to be one of the best places ever to bring your kids. Its hands on, fun-interactive, exciting, interesting science made easy for kids to relate and really get into the fun of it. As a parent I feel, no, I know Prof Pennypickles has made a difference in interactions of kids and parents who visit here. Kids want to come, some parents don't, but then, you get interested and find that YOU as a parent don't want to leave.. WHERE was this when we were growing up? You never have to say" Don't touch that", "Put that down" "stop talking so loud", "don't run" -- its all good and okay to touch, run, play and have fun. This is the place for kids to have fun and learn and parents to just relax and go with it. They offer events through out the year Polar Express being one of them, our little one has gone 3 times and has loved LOVED it! They also offer events that go towards badges for Scouts and other groups. With it being so inexpensive to attend, you can spend 2-3 hours there and not even know it, there is something new around every corner. Fun place for kids under age 7 ish. Our granddaughter is 5 and she had fun. It would be helpful to place simple instructions by the things that are to play with. There is so much stuff even with the penny and pickle icons it's hard to spot them all. Directions would help and keep them simple such as " pull lever on right to work" or "push red button" etc. there were a quite things that were not in working order. . I would still recommend as a one time visit knowing that all is not quite as good as it could be. read more

I also appreciate they close for half an hour every few hours to sanitize. It's only $5 so fun on a budget can't be beat. Parking behind the museum is limited and shared with other businesses. For what this place is, it definitely gets five stars. My mom and I took my 2.5 year old here. Several rooms with knobs, gadgets, inventions, hands on activities, and teaching videos. They have a mini glow in the dark maze as well! He wore himself out for sure. They close for about 30 min a couple times a day to sanitize everything which is amazing. The gift shop is packed with cool stuff. We bought a marble tower and he absolutely loves it. Laughed at the marbles going down the shoots, and then tried to make his own tower afterwards. Well worth it, and would definitely come back. Price is perfect. Add a pressed/smashed penny machine please! read more

I came here as an adult without any kids and I found this place really cool. It's a place I wish I would have gone to when I was a kid. There are tunnels to crawl through and all kinds of buttons and switches to play with. The place encourages you to explore and discover with hands-on learning. There's so much there to spark a kid's imagination. The best part is that the price of admission is only $5. Kids' entertainment can be so expensive so $5 is a steal for a place that can both educate and entertain kids for a few solid hours. There were a few sticky handles from the tiny, germy hands but considering everything is made for kids to touch, the place is actually pretty clean. Also, even though I'm not their demographic and am a grown adult without any kids, I had fun and wasn't bored. With a party of two adults, we were able to go through the place easily within 1 hour. read more

I took my 3 kiddos here for the first time a year ago. It blew away our expectations! I would have given it 5 stars, hands down, but am only giving it 3 because they doubled their prices. We have been a few times in the past year and it used to be $5/child and I don't remember them charging adults. Kids aren't going to be there without adult supervision. I'm not a big fan of paying an entrance fee for myself so that my kids can have fun. If you don't mind paying $10 to get in, it is a great place for kids. read more
